Is 147 kph considered high speed in China? I doubt it. Normally their high speed trains travel at 300 kph.

It might be the speed during acceleration...not necessarily the train's top speed.

High speed overnight sleeper trains generally reduce speeds to give passengers a full night for sleeping.

There are two types of high-speed trains in China: G trains and D trains. G trains are faster than D trains but D trains are still considered high-speed trains. It is high speed train, but the speed is decreased about 50% for the sleepers to have enough time for sleeping, otherwise, it will too soon to arrive at the destination.
