  • Watch the newest short video in our series Inside the Sculptor’s Studio, which explores the design and fabrication methodologies of four accomplished kinetic sculptors! The video was produced by gallery owners Brigitte Micmacker and John Denning and edited by Scott Saraceno. In addition to the video, the kinetic sculpture exhibition "Kinetic Sculpture in 4 Movements" runs from May 4, 2017 - August 4, 2017 at Sculpturesite Gallery in Glen Ellen and nearby wineries in Sonoma and Kenwood. See exciting and mesmerizing work from Pennsylvania artist Jeff Kahn, California artists Jeffery Laudenslager and John Tyler, and Washington artist Troy Pillow, all powered entirely by wind!

I've always been fascinated by kinetic sculptures, but I'm sure that's lots of people also. In any case, seeing these things just makes me wish every sculpture was kinetic!

    Where can these be purchased?

You cannot afford any of these sculptures. These are sold to foundations and cities and organizations. Mark White of Santa Fe New Mexico would probably be your best bet. His are not cheap but much more affordable than these in the video. Jim Lapaso from Texas would be another source as would Don Cecil of Bellevue Texas. Cecil of Texas probably pays more attention to detail and balance and his work is fantastic. His will turn in a 1 mph wind and withstand 100 mph winds. His are stainless steel and aluminum. My wife and I have 4 of his sculptures and they are so mesmerizing to watch in our backyard while enjoying a glass of wine. Good luck in your search. Any of the kinetic sculpture builders mentioned above are top quality.

@@HeartAliveToday you are welcome. Anyone of the 3 names you will get a excellent wind sculpture. Another name I forgot to mention is Lyman Whitaker out of Utah. The only thing that I do not like about his is the single bearing that is housed in the top and covered with a cap that is soldered on. Just if you ever had to replace the bearing it would be a bear for the average owner.
