I say "Here" way too many times in this one - see if you can count them all! Barf.

That was great you highlighted the retaining ring recess area in red.

    Excellent video!
I recently purchased this same exact bike, for an off-season machine, and it needs new fork seals.
    Thank you Sir!

I'm going to cut my plastic seal setter longer than the as to use a dead blow hammer to give it love taps.

I don't know if you even still keep an eye on this video - but what other methods are there for removing that bottom allen bolt? The one on my 05 Vulcan 500 just spins & spins. There's no way to hold whatever is spinning inside the cylinder without some $50 tool from Kawasaki. Thanks

I used a length of threaded bar, which I ground down, to jam the bolt from spinning.

@@edtaylor8408 awesome solution. I ended up using the rounded end of a 1/2" breaker bar. had to hold it with one hand and turn the bolt with the other... But it worked.

I always use air impact wrench to give a proper spin to open it. It helps a lot since the piece inside that the alley key bolt is attached spins around easily.

I found on my KZ440 LTD that compressing the fork almost all the way while removing the bolt worked. After drilling one of them out of course.

I've got oil leaking out of the fork on my 04 gsxr1000 on both sides. Is it likely to be the fork seals or could there be other causes for this?

Aaron A - Fork seals are the most likely thing, yes. Unless there is significant damage to the fork. If you've been doing wheelies, then it's most certainly seals. This week I'm editing a video where we rebuild a set of 2007 GSXR forks.
