I loved Cobweb and Evil Dead Rise. Hell House Origins was awesome at Halloween. Looking forward to what horrors 2024 brings!
I really loved Hulu’s “NO ONE CAN SAVE YOU.” Such a great take on alien 👽 films, and makes it exciting and scary again. With almost zero dialogue as well.
I really enjoyed the no dialogue aspect and loved the lead actress
@@mandysmorgueofhorrorI just realized remember world the wor and e t times
really loved thanksgiving.
also love how the kid deals with the bully in cobweb. shit made me lough out loud.
When Evil Lurks was my favorite of 2023, but all the other films on your list were very enjoyable experiences. I laughed when I saw the title of Horror in the High Desert 2 written on the screen at minute 11:54, I think this "alternative movie" would be even better. Thanks for the video!
lol did I misspell it?! 😂
Lol I missed that, but yes, looks like you spelled it “dessert”, such as an ice cream sundae :)
@@sciwhiz805conjuring movie all about magan in James wan knows all about it before
Great list, I'm gonna check out a bunch of these. I was slacking on watching movies this past year
Great list! I’ve seen all of them except Horror in the High Dessert, will check out! 👍
I loved Influencer, too. I totally agree on The Outwaters and Skinamarink. I'm glad Huesera: The Bone Woman got a shout, great movie!
Saw X and Thanksgiving were the two of my favorites of the year 2023. I also really like Evil Dead Rise as well
Thanks for this list! I've seen some, definitely going to watch more. I really appreciate someone who can do a list like this and give just enough info to talk up the movie without giving too much away! Giving you a sub :)
When the evil lurks, Evil dead rise and Talk too me, are the ones that I really liked!!
That's scene you described in Hell House got me so good!!
I even got chills while you were talking about it here!
It gives me goosebumps whenever I think about it. It was such a well done scare!
@@mandysmorgueofhorror I agree! I love your taste in horror movies!
Thanks for your list! I didn’t even know there was a new Horror in the High Desert. The first one was just okay for me but sounds like the second is better so I’ll give it a go! I too really liked Saw X, and I’m not really a “Saw guy”. Another that I really enjoyed was Totally Killer!
Talk to Me is definitely the winner of the 2023 releases I have seen. Really enjoyed Totally Killer as well but for entirely different reasons. Still need to see Cobweb, Influencer, and Megan.
Great list, Mandy!
Great list! Solomonic selections!👏👏👏
And Skinamarink is a film that polarizes audiences. Some find it boring and others love it. (similar to Dashcam)
I'm one of those who really enjoyed it, Skinamarink. (And also Dashcam).🙏🙏🙏
When Evil Lurks messed me up so bad but in a good way, lol! I had to sit there and rewind multiple scenes because my brain was just not accepting what I was seeing. That movie was wild! I don't think I can re-watch it, though. I loved Horror In The High Desert and the Hell House one as well. Those genuinely creeped me out on the verge of paranoia 😂. Great List!
Great video Mandy😊
What a great list. With the exception of M3gan, I either wanted to see these movies, or have seen and loved them, or now want to see them because I didn't hear about them. First, I have to watch Horror in the High Desert though, because I've never even heard of the franchise.
Your welcome, love horror by the way , The list you made was pretty spot on 😊
Contact info conjuring movie part in Joey King she was Chrisne parrey only she was 12 years old girl she was 2013 in movie part in new movie sounds great and good to see it
I think my two favorite movies were When Evil Lurks and Talk To Me. They will make a sequel to Talk To Me.
Another good video. I love horror movies.
Thanks for the list. A movie that has slipped under the radar seems to be Chad Gets The Axe which I would recommend to anyone that liked Deadstream.
Ohh thanks for the rec!
Talk To Me HORRIFIED me. It was the first horror movie I watched in my new apartment on my new projector. I'm aussie, and the accent was legit and didn't annoy me, the streets were too familiar, it was all just shocking and fast and I had to watch You're Beautiful Kdrama all night to calm myself down after. I'm going to watch it again!! (Also I has history of sleeping paralysis, and this movie didn't help. NO REGRETS LOL)
Cobweb was so good, the soup scene 😵, the same kid was also in the Demeter.
My top 10
10. The Popes Exorcist
9. Megan
8. The Boogeyman
7. Dark Harvest
6. The Last Voyage of the Demeter
5. Birth/Rebirth
4. Thanksgiving
3. Evil Dead Rise
2. Talk To Me
1. Cobweb
The soup scene was so good! I literally gasped out loud lol
While it wasn't as good a year as 2022 for Headliners, 2023 was actually a better year for Indy Horror; 'Herd' really stuck with me; A Spoonful Of Sugar, Influencer, Resurrected, The Puppetman and The Bell Keeper were all incredible; Children Of The Corn, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines and Monster High 2 too, but Wintertide tops my list...
(of 11 because I saw Leave The World Behind after finishing it but It really stuck with me too...)
I haven't watched a horror movie since before October last year pretty much, depression kicked my ass hardcore in the end of the year but your list and enthusiasm and recaps are putting me in the horror mood, thank you. I've got some catching up to do 😅
I hope you are feeling better and I hope you find some movies from this list that you like!
Our lists are close. Influencer, Hell House, swallowed and horror in the high desert i have not seen yet so thanks. Of my list you didnt mention Boogeyman or Thanksgiving. Also, i hear the new Godzilla movie has horror aspects to it that have me intrigued.
My top two were Thanksgiving and When Evil Lurks! Also watched Cobweb because of you and loved it. Not what I expected but in the best way possible!
I also really like Thanksgiving as well. I haven't seen When Evil Lurks and Cobweb yet
So happy you loved Cobweb! I also loved Thanksgiving- kind of forgot about it when making my list 😅
@@mandysmorgueofhorrorI guess I gotta see it now. 😂
Thanksgiving was horrible to much unnecessary gore and 61 actress pregnant w sheriffs baby. Pathetic
61 year old
Evil dead rise was so awesome!! Saw x was awesome also.
When Evil Lurks is probably my favorite “pure” horror film of the year. But I loved El Conde, Project Wolf Hunting, and In My Mother’s Skin. This was the year for a lot of great adjacent horror or fusion blends that fall into horror.
I haven’t seen those, so def need to check them out!
The Morguer the merrier for horror movies 😁😁😁😁 Bad joke. Thanks for the post love the movies on the list.😊😊
What a great list! Have you also seen Raging Grace and In My Mother Skin? They are pretty good underrated horror films of 2023
Thanks! Not yet, but I’m hoping to get to them eventually!
The Boogeyman was okay too but I liked that movie more than Cobweb. Also I agree, No One Can Save You was good too, a little bit derivative if you really think about it against the mind blowing underrated movie Upgrade (2018).
Hell House LLC 4, yeah!! I thought I was the only one with that in my top ten. Scariest clowns ever!
They’re the worst!
We have seven of the same movies in our top ten. While have hell house, scream, and horror in the high dessert 2. I have the last voyage of demeter, sick, and Thanksgiving.
Cool! I still need to see Sick.
Definitely giving me Kaley Cuoco vibes... subbed 😊
Omg thank you, I love her lol
Saw X and Thanksgiving and evil dead rise in cobweb in talk to me my favorites horror movies
About time I see somebody giving Hell House a rightful place in a top 10 list as well as Minerva. Both of which were downright eerie. I would say Project Eerie deserves a spot too.
I haven’t seen that one! Need to check it out
a chick that likes horror, that is freaking awesome. agreed saw x was so good
godzilla minus one is the best horror film of 2023 and perhaps the best film of 2023.
I still haven’t seen it! I’m not a Godzilla person - would I still enjoy?
I watched Craving on Tubi which is pretty cool horror movie
Thanks for the rec! Tubi has some pretty great options right now
I lovedddd Saw X so much!
I loved The Evil Dead Rise too!
Omg yes some of Talk to Me was so shocking!!
I watched Hellhouse LLC Origins on Halloween and it was perfect for that!
Skinamarink was the best horror movie for me, Talk to me the worst. When evil lurks was great.
Interesting! What did you not like about Talk to Me?
Story was empty, not interesting at all, nothing new in this movie. Not scary at any moment. Characters were flat. End is predictable.
@@tanjab.7753 oh wow! I found the embalmed hand party trick to be fresh and fun. But thanks for sharing your thoughts!
huesera and cobweb were boring 😴😴 i will see skinamarink this wknd.... other than that your list is flawless in my opinion 👌👌
lol thanks…I didn’t think those two were boring 🥹
M3GAN was the best one
Infinity pool?
Hated it
You reveal too much, especially number 1 and 2.
No I don’t
So, Scream VI and Saw X were better than Infinity Pool AND Godzilla Minus One? Eileen was better than Influencer and Hell House Origins combined! Gtfoh...
So, I hated Infinity Pool and haven’t seen Godzilla Minus One or Eileen. This is my list and I can make it however I want 😂
@@mandysmorgueofhorror Then title it: "My 10 Favorite Horror Movies of 2023."
Too bad that you can't be objective about Infinity Pool, but not having seen Godzilla Minus One is inexcusable for a movie reviewer. For a 'best ' top 10, you should've seen every horror film released in 2023. Back to Infinity Pool, why did you hate it?
@@yusefendure it’s impossible for me to see every single movie released in a year. This is a hobby, not a job. Also, maybe “hate” was a strong word for Infinity Pool. It just wasn’t for me.
@@mandysmorgueofhorror I work full time and have seen nearly all of them, so it's possible, but I'm a cinephile, so there ya go. Don't walk it back. If you hated IP, you hated it. I was just curious why.
Great video! However I'll have to disagree with you. I thought Skinimarink was scarier than Talk to Me or Cobweb, I think it might be because of the analog horror aspect of it and the grittiness which makes it seem more realistic than the aforementioned movies. What I'm trying to say is that everything looks so "clean and perfect" which reduces the scare factor compared to the grittiness which forces your brain to immediately fill in the negative space this scaring you 😅
I can see how you found them to be scarier! I love the whole analog aspect to it as well. They def unsettled me in their own ways.
