I just rewatched Ginger Snaps like I said I would and the Halloween vibes are so good. I watched The Mangler as a teen. That was such a crazy movie! I'm due for a rewatch on that!
Glad to see love for SALEM’S LOT, I think it gets left out of the ‘best of’ Stephen King film lists way too often. THE CURSED looks like my jam for sure, thanks for the recommendation! 🎃
Paranormal Activity, the first movie, I went to the opening at the theater with a girl, after the movie she cried for an hour, I thought she was having a mental break. It freaked her out so much. She calmed down eventually, but when Paranormal Activity came out, people were crapping themselves.
Ooh good call with all those 90’s classics! I’m going to be watching Demon Knight, Trick R Treat, and Flatliners too. In keeping with the classic Kiefer Sutherland theme, I’m also going to the Alamo to see Lost Boys later this month. My other Halloween must-watches this year are: The Craft, Stigmata, Fear Street trilogy, and possibly Dark Harvest when it drops. Man, I love spooky season! 🧡🖤🎃
I start with the old classics and go through my favorites from each decade and genres!.... I'm an old 80s kid and grew up watching horror movies. My first horror movie I ever saw was creepshow when I was like 5......parents let kids watch anything back in the day!....
Just rewatched Salems Lot a couple weeks ago. Love that movie! It scared the pants off me as a kid. The book is excellent too for anyone who might not know.
Oooo I've been waiting for your list haha We watched Hell Fest last night for the time. No idea how I ever missed this one but it was super fun and screams halloween! 🙂
We actually watched it when it came out in theaters right before going to a local haunted forest! Great movie, we actually bought it and watch it multiple times. So fun!
Hi Mandy :) Here are some of minr, in no order: 1. Nightbreed 2. The Tingler 3. The Abominable Dr. Phibes 4. Blood: The Last Vampire 5. Strangeland 6. Jacob's Ladder 7. Village of the Damned (original) 8. Cat People (original, 1940s) 9. Judge (anime, 1994, also called Judge of Darkness) 10. What Lies Beneath 11. GANTZ (anime series) 12. The Body Snatcher (1945, Boris Karloff) 13. 13 Ghosts (original, 1950s) 14. Ghost Train (Japanese, not sure about the year) 15. Devil 16. Fallen (with Denzel Washington) 17. Blood Beach 18. XTRO 19. A Bucket of Blood (original) 20. The Hunger (with David Bowie). Yes, most of these are old, but they're great
So you have your own personal Horror Festival, too! I've done mine at least 15 years. I always include Rocky Horror because it is such a celebration of the genre and the fans who love it. I make it either the opening or the conclusion of the festival as a nice way of tying everything together. I try to include the obscure, underground and the grindhouse I used to watch in the Grinds of old Times Square. You can't beat that for atmosphere. Lately I have started to include ARG, Backrooms, Red Room Torture, spooky Tik Tok, and other cyber offerings. Its a whole new frontier in Horror, I feel. As time goes on I'd like to include vintage TV like Karloff's old show. I am torn between Blair, the Exorcist and The Shining as my favorite of all time. Soon I'll add Eyes Wide Shut after my first seeing it, I am sure. Room 1413 ? with Samuel Jackson and John Cusack is another fave. Not to mention the original Dead movie. There are so many others I try to include each year. I think Rob Zombie's is an incredible, nascent talent, perhaps the savior of the genre.
Loved so many on your list like Salem’s Lot, Cobweb and Barbarian. Other Halloween favorites are The Texas Chainsaw Massacre both the original and 2004 remake, the original Omen, and the original Village of the Damned.
Great list!!! I also have Cobweb, Hell Fest and Halloween 4 on my list (all first-time watches). Yesterday I watched Hocus Pocus 2 and tonight I'm watching Urban Legend!
Have you seen Spellbinder and/or The dark secret of harvest home? Spellbinder is witches and it has a twist. The other movie is on CZcams and is just so creepy.
There is a movie that I have to watch every Halloween, The Houses October Built. The thought of a group of friends traveling around to find the scariest haunt, what Halloween fan wouldn’t love that. Then when things start to turn, it’s just one of my favs!!!
Great video and reminder of so many good movies! Holy crap! You haven't seen Event Horizon?? I can't wait to hear what you think of it! And, thank you for reminding me of the Changling. I also can't wait to see your response to Anthony Perkins performance in Psycho. So darn good!
Fun post as are all your videos. You have excellent taste in horror films and your very eloquent and your critiques are always positive even if the film is not for you. Great list, has a few I need to check out like the cursed. My list has many of the classic universal monsters ( dracula, Wolf man , Frankenstein etc). Keep up the great work). 31 days is just not enough 💀
That's nice! I actually do the 31days of horror challenge, but I haven't planned all my movies, just a few because I like to have the choice. I also always watch movies I have never seen before (maybe on Halloween I'll include some rewatch as well :D). Cobweb is on my list as well. I need some new movies; I watched almost all of the ones you mention. Maybe I'll check out Deadstream and THe collingwoods Story which I've never heard before and Event Horizon.
This is a great line-up. I must say though that being in my early 50s, it really hurts to hear you refer to stuff from the 90s and 2000s as nostalgic really hurts my soul.😊. Happy watching.

@@mandysmorgueofhorror it’s the scariest tv show I have ever seen, but it’s also well made with a good story. I recommend it to every horror fan I can; since it only lasted one season and didn’t get much attention. Subtitles are the best way to watch it imo, dubbing just doesn’t do it justice.
