I would say that they were about equal in intellect. But Mycroft is still smarter than Sherlock, and therefore most likely smarter than Moriarty as well.

I'm disappointed that Mycroft's Introduction scene in the first episode didn't get a mention. The way it's played, you are led to think it's Moriarty and you come away from the scene with a serious feeling that this is not a man you cross lightly.
A mention, yes. IMO I think there are two many other bits that would edge out that scene. I do recall playing it over again several times. I too thought it was Moriarty. There is only one thing that bothered me about it. Mycroft goes a bit over the top by crossing his legs and posing the umbrella at an angle as John walks away. A bit too stagey and campy for me. So much better if he stood prim and proper like. A small point but it kind of ruined the perfect ten I would have given the scene.

I'm surprised Mycroft's on-screen debut didn't make it at all on this list as it is one of my fave scenes. I would pick it over Sherlock/John getting drunk (although this scene was was also intriguing.)

I love this show. It`s the only movie/tv series that gives me this beautiful adrenalin feeling, when you can`t predict plot twists. Really well-written, performed, directed. The Reichenbach fall is my favorite episode EVER (of all tv shows). This scene on the rooftop is pure perfection. Sherlock vs Moriarty has the most amazing hero vs. villain scenes, with all this chemistry (not in a slash way!!!!) between them. Can`t wait to see the 2nd episode of the 4th season, because the 1st one was really good.

It's like the mobile game "Criminal Case" I cut out all the waiting time, so people get to watch it uninterrupted for each case. :)
That irene adler episode was one of my favorites. They need to bring her back.
A wonderful character. I would like to see her and Sherlock trade favors and information for their mutual benefit, all the while maintaining the awkward sexo-intellectual tension.
In the latest episode Irene texts Sherlock to wish him happy birthday!

4:50 Mycroft is the smartest person on the show. He solved the mystery of The Abominable Bride before sending Sherlock to confirm. Even though that was a hallucination, it just shows how much Sherlock knows that he knows.
It's been stated several times on the show, and even in Doyle's original stories, that Mycroft is the intellectual superior to Sherlock
Mycroft may be smarter than his brother, but he needs his brother's physical prowess to confirm things for him. Sherlock, on the other hand, usually does his own legwork.
Kay As shown in the Sign of Three (for the show), Sherlock does believe that Mycroft is more intelligent than him which is why it was Mycroft who Sherlock imagined in his "mind palace" during the wedding when he was having trouble deducing who was about to be murdered. John helps Sherlock to calm down and focus but Mycroft helps him get the facts straight and solve the case
In the show, the only reason why Sherlock does the physical work is because Mycroft is a Government official who would rather not be seen doing such work. Sherlock doesn't really have any edge over his brother, except too much free time.

It was on in the UK tonight. It should be available on BBC i-player if you have access to it. Alternatively there's a site called tvids.net that I occasionally use to catch up on some shows and Sherlock episodes usually appear there three or four days after first airing.

OK Alex, I guess BBC America have some sort of deal with Netflix (US) to put episodes up at the time of airing or something. I don't mind too much, I already own the box sets of the first three seasons and the blu-ray of The Abominable Bride but it seems a bit weird that a brand new episode would be on Netflix at the very same time it's due to air on TV.
When Sherlock acts as John and Mary's waiter when he reveals himself IS THE BEST SCENE HOW DID THEY LEAVE THIS OUT?!??!?!?!
My fav is when Sherlock pretends not to know how to diffuse the bomb, and him and John have this lovely, sentimental conversation.

"I am Sherlocked" is my all time favourite Sherlock scene. The music, the tension, the resolution. What an amazing scene.
I can’t believe that they left out the scene where Sherlock begs John for forgiveness on the subway train. That scene was so emotionally powerful and it showed some of the best acting from both stars. Honestly, it brought me to tears and I don’t cry easily.
You couldn't wait 2 weeks to have a whole new season to have more moments?
Because then there'd be mad spoilers for anyone that hasn't seen series 4 yet. Anyone watching this has probably seen up to 3. I won't be surprised when they either update this list or do a list for 4.

In the last episode of season four his mother describes Mycroft as the cold minded one, Eurus as the genius, and Sherlock as the emotional. So yes, Sherlock is very allowed to talk about feelings

Jim Moriarty's helicopter scene with 'I want to break free' song on background is my favorite and one of the most iconic moments of television series history.
To be fair, every scene with Moriarty in it are my favorites.

The "Deduction used as a weapon" scene from Hounds of Baskerville should be at least an honorable mention, it's a moment of doubt and confusion we rarely see Sherlock in and also one his best deduction speeches ^^

Sherlock's Fall was probably the best scene. Watson's reaction is what made it real for me. The way he says 'He's my friend' brings it home to me every time. The chemistry between these two is priceless. The sequence I most replay is Sherlock's return in The Empty Hearse. I like seeing the reactions of everyone but of course Watson's range of reactions are like going through the five stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Throw in some humor with that head butt in the coffee shop and I have to use that word again, priceless.

Not the only one. Actually, I love pretty much everything about "A Study in Pink." :)
My favourite scene is his first use of deduction in front of Watson, where he explains to John in a cab ride the abilities he has and introduces the us the audience to the new characters and technology for this reinterpretation. We pretty much have the same reaction as John does when he's finished.
My all time favorite scenes from Sherlock are when John and Sherlock get drunk, as well as the part in that scene where John says "he's clung for looks" and Sherlock falls over on the carpet

My top moment in the show is 'SHERLOCKED' when he finally figures out the password and confronts Irene Adler. It's just played out so well, when Sherlock leans in to whisper in her ear "...because I took your pulse." It just gives me goosebumps every time!

Funny thing is that at the end, Sherlock was not even a sociopath. He was just emotionally blocked because of his childhood traumas.

No plot, again centering around Mary, giving her additional backstory and then killing her to introduce new female character into series. Imo first part was good until they found AGRA usb. After that it was boring.

This show is amazing and I love Watson/Holmes friendship it is so sweet.
I personally think the scene where he gets shot should be much higher on this list. I was absolutely blown away by the originality, creativity, tension and execution of that scene after I first watched it, and I keep coming back to it

I love this show so much. So glad it's back man.
I loved John in The Abominable Bride... "I'm an Army Doctor... I can break every bone in your body while naming them." And in season three..... "I'm a doctor. I know how to sprain people." Just sad that none of the episodes showed us John's contribution to solving cases, using his skills to keep Sherlock alive (or from being punched).
