I'll always argue that Morrissey as much as Johnny gave the Smiths their signature sound. Both their music is shit these days, that doesn't change the signature brilliance to morrissey's lyrics and johnny's guitar playing.
I met this guy in 2019, after one of his concerts in Italy. Nicest dude ever! He was so humble and polite; he even took some time to chat and ask questions to every single person who had been waiting for him. I remember him asking me what genres I listened to and if I played any instruments. I was shaking so much, I almost passed out haha! He really did his best to calm me down, lol! I'm 18 and Johnny is literally one of my biggest idols. I'm so happy my expectations were not disappointed, I swear I'll remember that day until I die.
He's so down to earth I told him my lil bro was starting his journey with the guitar and that i randomly try to play it too and he went into the venue to get a pick for me and my bro I was so shocked and shaking he kept hugging me to get our picture taken 😭 He was so generous and kind I wish I asked him for an autograph but that experience he gave me was all I need for my life to be honest 🥺
Hey, I saw him with the Pretenders on U2's Joshua Tree tour, and swore to God that Jim Honeyman Scott had got up out of the grave to play the Pretenders' best hits!!!!!
I was privileged to see The Smiths 26/10/86 London Palladium at the age of 12. They closed with Bigmouth, this song is beyond perfection. When God made Johnny he was just showing off !!
Omg Guys pls this man has released 3 solo records and a live record if u would have showed any interests at all in Johnny then u probably would have known this.... gosh OFC HE CAN SING!!!
His set for the hi hello tour is straight fire. Just enough of the old stuff if that's what you came for, but all the new stuff on the set list is great
Johnny marr one of the best ever of telling the whole story with the riff alone. What a player. Now that Jeff has passed I think this has to be the living hero of the instrument. My muse
Just saw this band a few months ago. FANTASTIC and Johnnys solo music is great. I mean it....if there was ever an artist to support its Johnny Marr. What a band...
Do you really think that Morrissey or anyone else really gives a flying one about how Joan of Arc felt as the flames rose up her Roman nose and her hearing aid started to melt?
@@dannywestwood4113 Why are you asking me if I think that anyone would care about the way Joan of Arc felt? It's not relevant to my comment. But I'll try for the sake of conversation. I'm not sure what you mean by anyone, that's a big number of people, so I don't know if anyone out of the whole of the population cares for Joan of Arc. I definitely think she was an amazing individual. Regarding Morrrissey, I have no idea either. He wrote a song about her, I would think he at least got to think about her story. And something to keep in mind would be to understand that the most important thing about Joan of Arc is not that she got burned. It is what she accomplished with the little tools she had.
Morrissey and Marr need to do at least a few concerts together again. Marr's not bad at singing but he is a God at guitar and Morrissey has terrific vocals still. Please for the good of humanity get back together.
Damn I didn't know Johnny can SING! Amazingly well considering how difficult it must be to play this song. This is the first time I ever heard him. Nicely done Mr. Marr.
I could hear the thoughts of the drummer and he was cursing mike joyce's way of playing the cymbals. "it's almost over" he thought when he wanted to faint.

Johnny Marr IS the signature sound of the Smiths. His guitar efforts gave the Smiths their soul.
I'll always argue that Morrissey as much as Johnny gave the Smiths their signature sound. Both their music is shit these days, that doesn't change the signature brilliance to morrissey's lyrics and johnny's guitar playing.
Andy Rourke is super underrated in my opinion and really adds in Headmaster ritual to name a few.
PK Fawful I agree
@@Wilantonjakov The vocals are just as important as the lyrics. Smiths guitar without Morrissey vocals is like pizza with non-dairy cheese.

Johnny Marr is a great guitarist, but his ability to play these intricate riffs while singing is just amazing.

I had never heard Johnny Marr sing before. Wow!
O duh he's guitarist only
Dude - I’ve seen Marr live x2 in the last 12months (in Canada!). Was brilliant! Last yr he dropped his 3rd solo album.
he is multi-talented since the early days ....
@James Richards sounds much better than when he first started solo. his vocals then were truly cringeworthy.
