    Great video as always. Interesting brake track on those wheels. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the inboard cable clamp on Shimano rear derailleurs as you have to cut the cable short so it doesn't foul the spokes. Gone are the days when you could easily remove inner cables and lube the inside of outer gear cable.

    The B screw probably needed adjusting because the toggle link (Shimano call it the 'bracket axle unit' Y3E998020 for Ultegra) was too high and not against the stop on the hanger. Its easy to tighten them in the wrong place because the action of tightening the derallieur attachment bolt tends to pull the toggle link up like it has here.

    Just before Covid hit I bought myself a Rockrider ST520 MTB. It was at the cheap end of their range but I liked the look and it fit me well (I'm 1m90)
    It came with a "free inspection" after 3 months of use but A) Covid hit and B) no way I was letting those spanner boys near it. I saw the way they treated other customers bikes and how they spoke bull 💩 to them and me.

    • @kuanhau4323
      @kuanhau4323 Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@allenincabra it is just as a comparison, the weight in itself doesn’t matter. But it would be interesting to see if using oil based lubricant or wax lubricant makes a significant difference. If the comparison showed that a ‘clean’ looking bike also had the same weight as a ‘dirty’ looking bike then it would help people understand that regular servicing is more important than they realise.

    Having worked in as many groupsets as you have, which wouldnyou say give the most useful features for the money to a non competitive cyclist?
    I run 3x8 speeds, and have older 105, sora, deore and altus on different bikes. The seals and bearing race quality, as well as the springs and "wiggle" tolerances, are significantly different. So, out of the latest incarnations, would you recommend, say, tiagra/alivio or have they not benefited yet from trickle down tech improvements? (I daydream of _a perfect setup_ more than I'd likento admit.)
    Thanks for keeping this channel, it's quality content and you have honed a great formula for your videos. Cheers!

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  Před 11 měsíci +1

      There are so so many different variants of each range I don’t have an answer that even comes to mind. In terms of “wiggle” anything up from ultegra is perfect and everything down from there is about how much you’re willing to spend and how much it matters to you. Having said that 105 is very durable and offers as good value on the low end as ultegra on the high end 🧡

  • @ajfrog699

    Wow. Another cracking job and what a difference from before to after 🎉👏👏👏 Wanted to ask about the b screw, adjustment, what is it you're looking for a d adjust too when you make the adjustment?

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  Před 11 měsíci +6

      The B screw adjustment is down to the gearing you are running. It will bring the jockey wheels closer or further away from the cassette to help guide the chain across the cassette more positively. I always perform this in the easiest gear the bike has and then check the chain length in the two smallest cogs to make sure it doesn’t need shortening after the adjustment. I recommend a distance of around 5mm between the jockey wheel and the cassette in the easiest gearing.

Another great service, thanks guys.

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  Před 11 měsíci

      We actually have many of the plants you saw stuck in the derailleur locally, so just about anywhere is the answer to that one. We rarely see this brake set and now we’re doing another one for next week! And yes press fit bottom brackets can be an absolute nightmare, they’re low quality and occasionally we end up replacing ones we’ve fitted through no fault of our just poor manufacturing!🧡

    • @Bikespeeds
      @Bikespeeds  Před 11 měsíci +7

      Much different. It’s first of all more sticky so doesn’t peel up like electrical tape which to us is far more pleasing. And it’s also brings the depth of paint even in the black. So it doesn’t stand out like electrical tape and even glosses up with a layer of polish over the top. If you like your bikes to be mint it’s that last 10% of details that takes it to perfect 🧡
