They’re not upgrades they’re just blinding everyone on the roads! I hate the law doesn’t enforce headlight and safe following laws. If you can’t see with regular low beams you are too blind to drive! Get your eyes fixed!
Wet sand the headlight lenses with 1500 then 2000 grit and clear coat them. That’s what I did on my truck and it’s been probably 10 years and they still look great.
What type (brand) of clearcoat did you use on those plastic lenses? They didn't peel? 10 years is phenomenal!
If you buff the headlights with a buffer they will look crystal clear
Those lights brighten up nicely. Pro tip: if you have a small pad with a drill attachment and some old school white Colgate toothpaste, the Colgate is just abrasive enough to plow through that oxidation with relatively little elbow grease - the drill does the work. Man, those LED's will POP - and your front grill will be minty fresh! Safe winter travels and a Merry Christmas!!!
Led lights are an amazing improvement over the stock headlights, but you must get a quality brand like these shown. Also, on older vehicles it is best to verify that your headlights are properly aimed, they go out of adjustment just like your steering alignment. For the newer trucks that you add a leveling kit to, you must realign your headlights, because the light beam has been lifted and is not shining at the road anymore.
Great job showing the difference between the old and new.
I definitely prefer that soft white/yellowish color of LED headlights because the harsh white or blue completely blind you at night. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been driving blind because someone in a Tesla is driving the other way.
Those seem to be a nice warm light spectrum that doesn’t seem as obnoxious as the super bright blue ones that definitely blind me on the roads here on the Olympic peninsula
Thanks for this video ! I’m going to get a pair for the 92 plow truck ! As well, will try that lense clean product 👍
Great upgrade. One thing if those headlight lenses fog up again. Use old school white Colgate toothpaste to clean them up. After you clean them. Get a can of clear coat spray paint. The clear coat spray paint adds a layer of protection.
Also if you really want to light up the night. eBay sells led light bars. You could mount that on your front bumper. The led light bar with the low beams almost eliminate the need for high beams.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Using a buffing pad on a drill will make those headlights much clearer, Clear coating them after buffing makes them stay clear alot longer. For anyone living where there is a lot of wildlife crossing the road LED's are a necessity
Wow! It seems most everbody here in the comments has outgrown Christmas like myself. Now I don't feel so alone today.
Let's have a bonfire party by headlight. Tungsten filament, led or arc, all are welcome...
BYOB! 🤠👍
Been using mothers for years. tip, use a green 3m kitchen scrub pad, it will get even more off. thank you for your vids.
nice to see vendors recognize you and your content..well deserved..Merry Christmas folks..
Thanks for sharing Austin, stay safe, warm and healthy throughout this winter season brother! Kirk from Louisiana, sending prayers and positive vibes to you and your family! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am going to get these for my truck! They are great! That is a cool truck, it looks real nice cleaned up!
Love that truck
Great to see the OBS truck again. She is a sweet ride!!
Awesome
Holy Sh*t ! Moose Avoidance ! I thought the deer we have in Michigan were bad ! Austin you'll need to wet sand those lenses with 2000 grit to remove the micro pitting and haze then seal with a headlight glaze. I believe Mother's makes one along with other brands. You'll have reapply the glaze now and then. Cool bulbs. Cheers Man ! 🍻👊😎🤙🍻
BYA, great tip! Just what I'm looking for! Thanks! Early winter dark taxes the old eyes!
With us being in Alaska, the better lights are needed.
On converting marker lights and turn signals, I haven’t done it because on my old ‘75 I think the housings and connectors really depend on the heat to stay dry. I haven’t done a test, so this is just my ‘guesstimate’. I’m currently changing my old Honda motorcycle headlight to LED. Thanks for the info.
Great video. Have a Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas
Nice job & Merry Christmas
Bad thing about LEDs in your type of climate is they don't produce much heat so the headlights could get covered with snow and ice. Some military LED headlights have a heating element you can turn on..
This is a spiffy video and are impressed with the lighting. I will get a set for my Ford Ranger. If your going to hit that Moose you may as well bilnd em first.
Austin, I bought some because it was getting hard for me to see the road at night! I love mine and I’m not afraid to drive at night now!
Bravo brother! Merry Christmas
Mother's polish is great stuff. Aluminum and anything chromed will brighten up nicely. AL B.
Yes, much better. Love the old Fords. Merry Christmas, Gary.
I've always used chainsaw gas to clean the lights. Takes the faded yellow grime right off.
Great stuff !!! I will have to check out those lights!! Big improvement!!! Thank you for sharing your journey!!! God bless you and Merry CHRISTmas!!!! Eddy
Great how looking lights. I want a set for my explorer. Good seeing you again.
I run LED,'s on everything o own here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA. Only problem is, your headlights will no longer put off enough heat to keep them melted off
That works great on headlights got to use a machine buffer on it whatever you got. Nice truck by the way.
the incandescent test is exactly how my 1994 is. I turn the brights on and it makes almost no difference, yet I get flashed if I forget they're on lol.. They're hella brighter if you do flash to pass tho.
Huh I didn't know LED light kits have fans in them. I'm curious about the expected lifetime of the fan with it being a moving part and potentially being exposed to the elements. Is there a thermistor to prevent the LEDs from burning out so someone can diagnose and swap out the fan if it has failed. Instead of it just burning out the LED it turns the LED off or maybe flashes a pattern before it shuts off.
Love your content, your demeanor, your delivery, and your awesome machines. But sure would appreciate some longer videos. 10- 15 minute long videos are over just about the time that you begin to enjoy them and it makes it seem like they are being made only long enough to monetize. Thanks for your creations and time.
I polished my light buckets less glare for oncoming cars
Just an algorithm comment Austin.
Best Wishes to You and Your Family for the Holidays.
I've been using cutter deep woods off . To clean lenses on my car and it works great. Anyways thanks for sharing.👍😁
Those lights seem to be a big improvement over the stock lights. I'm wondering how they look to oncoming traffic Thanks.
Try the mothers on the paint you might be surprised at the turn out of it.
The only negative I have on led is they won’t melt the snow and ice off the lens
4:17, way, too much. Perfect.
👍 👍 👍 👍
Nice job, really enjoy your videos. What editing software do you use? I've been making a few videos but haven't been able to decide on a good editing software. Thanks!
I recently bought a 1997 OBS powerstroke and my lights do the same thing as the original lights on yours
I've had good results with WD40. You have to seal the surface with a clear coat otherwise they'll oxidize again
Visibility!
🐿️
No deep field “hot spot”? ….. Order new one😆
i used to have an OBS GMC, it would blow out the headlight fuse every 10 minuets and the light switch even started on fire several times. hope the LED's don't do that
had a huge problem with those trucks, for some reason they are a cop magnet down south... so i drove it so far north in 1 DAY, that i seen green grass and got stuck foot deep in the middle of the road at the end. thousands of dollars in spare parts deposited over a few bills for gas, just to get a quick lunch or tow... i mean two. tow because the fake owner of it cant drive it legally back down without paying for thousands of dollars in tow bills... big city pan handle, sold and deactivated with a remote too collect fake fix it bills endlessly. Day one on the car I have now was... cut out the electrical tumor. "50 miles from the sea shore one would ot to be good, weather?"
Older stuff doesn't have relays for the headlights, so all the current goes through the headlight switch. As stuff gets older, contacts corrode and the resistance in the wiring increases, causing heat and voltage loss.
Installing a relay harness for your headlights will stop things from melting and will also improve your light output by alot.
I bought the same kit as you, but I can’t figure out how to get it inside the Ford socket
Takes some doing, you need to clock them just right and push them in and then twist.
@@BackyardAlaskan I didn’t realize the flash ark LED’s came apart to fit through the socket. Got it done. Now it just shows off how mid my headlight lenses are 😂
Well I just went and ordered a pair isn't something I really really need rn but hey I've been wanting to upgrade free shipping 56$ with your code worth it to me I gotta buff my lights out I've also been wanting to actually get like smoked out lense front and back do you know anyone that makes them
