#freeskates #jmkride - Sport
This is why I ordered skates. It looks so relaxing. My first week - I’m sore, but I’m making progress but still a long way from effortless like this.
Baby steps! Jack (in the video) didn't even know about tricks for the first 5 years of his progression, so all he worked on was flow. Learning to pump, carve, etc in the real world and just becoming very good at that 😁
How are you getting on
@@hannahbickford7123 ooh it’s tough. I practice every day but I’m still waking up some muscles I haven’t used for a while. I’m doing pretty good with balance, less good at pushing off. It’s still fun though!
@@origGooglieWooglie glad to hear it
@@origGooglieWooglieyo thats cool, i just learned to pump efficient and i suddenly dont use all those muscles anymore when i started, its more like jogging now
It's impressive the level of control you two have to swerve through crowds and cars like that. Although it seemed like there were a few close calls and you might've spooked a few pedestrians. I hope everyone was chill with it; looked like it anyways.
Appreciate that! Freeskates are incredible for maneuverability but yes, we get a little carried away sometimes 😅
To learn to maneuver like this (safely), it’s best to throw yourself into busy environments like college campuses, city paths, etc, even if you start at a slower pace. Eventually you’re able to think on the spot and act quickly when needed 👌
I've learned something really important from this vid -- the Asian squat resting technique, which also reduces air drag! I'm gonna be doing that when my legs need rest. Also from this vid, I've learned you can do pseudo crossover pumps while turning and leaning so you can gain speed during turns.
Always good to see your cruising videos, JMK 🎇
Glad you like them!! 😁
That squat riding was awesome 🤩
Those were some nice spins. I am going to freeskate to work tomorrow morning. It is more than a mile to get to work! This video is an inspiration!
So glad you enjoyed, stay safe out there!!
Just ordered mine last night. Upgrading from cheap amazon skates!
Man, size doesn't matter when u know how to use it, same goes well with drift skates 😂
Happy to hear that!! You’ll notice the difference immediately. Enjoy 💯🔥
@@jmkride why would you be so sure?;) Anyway I am not Amazon but AliExpress fan 😸
Really great seeing free skating in these real world situations!
So glad you enjoyed! What was your favorite part about it? :)
@@jmkride I like how he changes up his technique and keeps it fresh the whole trip!
I nearly landed my first Tokyo throwback today
You got this! 👏 It’ll only get easier with time.
Ótimo vídeo! Muito bom ver passeios de Freeskate! 🇧🇷
Obrigado!!
That is so cool. Awesome skills.
Thanks!
getting myself these as a b day gift so excited
As long as you push past the learning curve and stick with it, it’ll be the best birthday present ever!
Jack out here vibing! Super fun watch
He's in his happy place
Nice man, also nice music.
This video was amazing
Thanks so much!! What was your favorite part?
Good thing Jack is so skinny. It helped him in those tight quarters. Fun as always.
1:43 *Micheal Myers enters the shot*
Gabe! Great job 🎥 tailing Jack through the crowds & cars! Phew! 👮🏼♀️🥶💪🏼👏🏼😅
😂😂😂 thank you James!
Just ordered a pair. Yall should do a maps app for rating routes and riding surfaces. Would be cool for planning the smoothest and/or safest rides when traveling to new locations or something.. just an idea.
This is such a nice video. Loved the deadpool moment :D
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m so tempted to buy some
Wow i enjoy watching you
Wow, this is amazing! I'm from Brazil, but unfortunately, this would never be possible here because of the hostile architecture we have. You can barely get by with a bike, let alone with skates like that
This is crazy awesome....just ordering my 1st pair of quad skates since the 80s....i got inspired by all the skating videos. Cant wait to get out there....im a bit nervous cos im in my 50s now....dont wanna break a hip :o
I’ve these hip pads that drop in & clip to the inside of the pants-quick & EZ. Grab m’helmet, & drop one in on the way out the door. Stay safe & enjoy the ride! 🤙🕊️
Oh, & they can be heated & molded to the shape of one’s hip! I dig’m.
Beau-ti-ful! 06:02 pedestrian surfing ))
PS Ive got freeskates in Kyiv and training to skate for a few days - now I can roll already! And that's very fun! I like to roll it roll it!
You can do it! Would love to see some footage.
I should learn that spin, it's elegant way slowing down in narrow space
Jack has it down like crazy. Yes it’s super effective! We’ll probably make an updated tutorial from his perspective 👍
Great Vid again ! id love to have him give a tutorial about some of his flow technique and that of Fish.a_a please
Noted!
can u make a tutorial about how to take the grip tape off for replacement
We can add that to the list! For now, a heat source like a hair dryer will soften up the grip tape. After that you can use your nails or the edge of a blade to get a start on pulling up the grip. Of course, do this safely and under adult supervision 👍
@@jmkride how long should i use the hair dryer for
@@JeremiahWee However long it takes to soften it up from the heat, so it can peel up more easily

How fast is it possible to go if you skate on perfect level ground in a warehouse AND what happens if you hit a piece of wood while skating?
I measured on very rough road, beginner here
I got average cruise speed 9km/h (5.6mp/h)
Top speed
19km/h (11mp/h)
I'd imagine on perfect ground it'd be a lot faster than that
If you hit a piece of wood, chances are the skate will just fly out from under you, and you'll land on your feet
Lmao what was the lady at 6:40 trying to do? She looks pissed and like she's trying to touch you or knock you down or something!
Crazy ride !! I love it ! Wish I can freeskate just like that in 10 years.
I'm a beginner, can you help me out please guys?
Witch feet is leading the game for standard beginner training; the front or the back feet??
You can ride with either foot in front, left or right! As far as which foot generates power, ideally it’s equal between both feet. As a beginner though, it’s totally normal to have a stronger foot… So you can continue to skate like that, but just make sure you focus on strengthening the other foot as you continue to progress :)
Many thanks for the advice.
Love the content and the skates.. Could you guys do another video on braking (the hard stop rather than carving).. Can't see a video focusing on this braking technique.

Thank you! I missed that!🎉🎉
Looooooveee itttt!!!
Thank you!
how long does it take to get used to using free skates?
Really depends on the time you put in! If you really want to get used to them fast, you should make it a routine to use them consistently in the real world. For some of us, that meant riding them to classes in college, or commuting to work. In those cases, a lot can be learned in the first 3-6 months. Of course, over the span of 10 years, Jack has made all sorts of improvements along his journey. Hope that helps!
Really love freeskating! I have the basics down, mainly just cruising around. Recently I've even made a short cruising music video for my Instagram! Really fun to play with. Love from Malaysia!
That's awesome! Hope you can share it with us there
@@jmkride I will!
I practice with my freeskate for a few weeks now and getting better but there is a thing I don't get.
To keep my feet at the right distance, I have to use my inner thy. Therefore I can't really relax on it not even while cruising. I got much better and got somewhat used to the burning muscle pain but I don't think I will be able to ride several kilometers. Sooner or later the muscle will get tired.
Is there a trick to be able to relax more?
Learning Tokyo looks like would do the trick but it is kinda overkill solution for a simple problem.
Thanks in advance.
Love your videos, they help me a lot ❤
More practice is the answer! You'll gain endurance in those muscles. The more you practice, the longer you'll be able to go, and the longer it takes to get sore or tired.
@@ReavoEnd obviously.... but with a skateboard for example if I have a bit of a slope I can just relax on the board and not get tired. I cannot do the same on freeskates.
It's not a convenient answer, but the solution to this will be time on the skates. Once you've freeskated for a a while, you should find that the soreness simply goes away, especially in those instances where you're just chilling on a slope. In fact, one of my (Gabe) favorite things to do is just relax and stand still when out cruising, and just take in the view. In these moments, there is no soreness/tiredness whatsoever - it's very relaxing. Your comment, however, does remind me that yes, there is an initial period where you feel like you're having to keep your skates from splitting apart... This feeling should subside, as I've seen it does for everyone that continues to ride. Hope that helps you in some way!
Oh, and as far as some actionable advice... A common beginner mistake/habit is keeping your skates far too spread apart. If you're doing this at all, it's totally understandable that there would be some tension/soreness, as this is an uncomfortable way to skate. Really, once you've learned where your balance point is, go ahead and close up that stance to shoulder-width. If you want, close it up even more so that the skates are close to touching (always remember to keep your weight centered in this case). This should create less strain and also give you so much more freedom with your range of motion. Bending your knees will help as well! Lastly, maybe this distance tips video will be a good refresher: czcams.com/video/mao6bPg3uQs/video.html
Good luck to you, don't give up!
@@jmkride ohh I definitly won't give up. I love over all. Thanks a lot 🥰🙏
❤️❤️❤️
I dig it.
I luv board sports, skated since 13, Onewheel daily, now I’m 45. Am I 2old 2learn this?
Hey, thanks for commenting! We have a friend in his second year of freeskating, and he’s 74 years old. If you’re riding those other things then you can totally pick it up!
Is this just like balancing in a roller skating? I think i can do it, i want to try it too, its look very fun and enjoyable, i want to try it even do i am in my 50's 😂
man it is crazy how much control he was with so many people around
It's wild!
Watched this twice, then still couldn't quite see it, watched it a third time and dropped the speed of play down to .25 (hilarious vocals) and realised that grapevine move is so similar to ice skating, so much skating content to analyse. I think you could easily make another video presenting slowed down content from this video and do a voice over and break down of technique on individual moves, like that grapevine you do at 4.15
Thanks for the idea! Glad you got a lot out of it
The movement looks like you're always dodging bullet fire.😂
🤣😂🤣
At 4:16, Jack launches a fork with his freeskate
You could say it was a fork in the road...
Can you use these in the mall?
People have, but security doesn't normally allow wheeled rides
@@jmkride Do you or any of the rest of the JMK team ride them in the mall/airport?
I also like to rollerblade and videotape it.
Sir can I get emi payment on freeskeats
I an from India
We ship to India 👍

Nice Pedi-surfing
Please what is the name of the first song?
dont bother - tshirts and sweats
Maan i want to skate that spot soooo baad
You should if you’re ever in San Diego! This video was a blast to make
Is he gifted or something?
Can an average skater learn to ride like this and make it seem so effortless?
Absolutely! Jack is insanely dedicated and passionate. He's amazing. But anyone can learn if dedicated
Danm I want achieve that level
You can with practice! Where are you at with your progression right now?
Not possible in Germany.
what do yall think is it cool if a 19 year old uses them ?
Any age is cool!
