Saying Good Bye - My Farewell Letter To My Dying Dog "Angel Annie"

- Saying good bye to my best friend is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but it was time to help her be free from her pain and I know if the tables were turned she would have done the same for me... as that's what best friends are for.
I wrote this letter and wanted to share these last intimate moments we shared together in the hope that it may help others who are having to face the same difficult decision.
When I first adopted Annie when she retired from her racing days at just 4 years old, I made a promise to her that i would be there for until the very end.
Annie was 12 years old when she passed, so we spent 8 amazing years together and I have a billion great memories to look back on.
Annie had an old race track injury flare up in her shoulder joint and her last few months were difficult for her to live the quality of life she was used to. Two weeks before this video was taken, a huge and aggressive tumor had appeared under her shoulder injury and had spread into her lymph glands, she was so brave and courageous right til the very end.
I wanted her to be at home, feeling safe, loved and cherished when she passed away and I laid on the floor with her nose to nose, and we looked deep into each others eyes and deep into each others souls.
It was the most heart wrenching but spiritually beautiful experience we ever shared together and I miss he so much, but feel at peace now I know she is too.

Such an emotional sad time we go through with our loving animals, parting this way and having to say farewell remains in our memories forever. Thank you for sharing your beautiful memories with Annie, made my cry. Love and light x

Oh Nikki, I'm so sorry I didn't realise that you'd lost dear Annie. Losing one's best friend is so sad as all of us know who have lost their dog. My little Sheltie, Meg, died suddenly but I was able to be with her at the end. LIke you I talked to her, thanking her for all the joy she'd given us and telling her she needed to leave now and not stay for my sake. After a few months, I got Sophie, another Sheltie, who was a nervous wreck but you helped me restore her confidence. She's nearly 9 now and time is going too fast BUT she enjoys life so much it's such a joy to see. I love her dearly and am taking her to The Lake District next week as she's so good. Aww Thanks June, I still miss her so much.. she was such a special dog.. Well they all are, bless their little souls for coming and spending time with us and teaching us about unconditional love. Have w wonderful time up in the lake district and hope the sun shines down on you both.. if it does know its Annie looking down at you and smiling ;)

Aww Thanks For your lovely Comment Stevie, She loved me as much as I loved her..It was a two way thing... In the final days, I caught her looking at me and tears were coming out of her eyes too.. She said "Mom I'm going to miss you as much as I miss you! But I will be in all the beautiful things you see and I will be in the sun and the stars, shining brightly on you..!" xxxx
