- Many are skeptical on pulling the trigger with ROG Ally “Being harder to Use” I think there are Ups and Downs for the Steam Deck, Legion Go, & Ally. But the narrative that you should not get the Ally only because it’s not “ease of use” like the deck is not worth its two cents in my opinion. That is if your a PC Gamer already, Here’s why.
There are Other good pros to the steam deck than just “ease of use” like it’s extended battery life. But if you want Better performance and A larger game library, don’t let this argument hold your decision back. - Hry
Could You make a video tutionals on what to do when you first buy the ROG ally, how to set it up and step - 10, I am a older fella and wanting to set it up for my grandson
Rog Ally in Jamica is $1000 brudda, I am better gaming on phone, I play Subway Surfer, and Fruit Nigha
Subway Surfer, Fruit Ninja and most mobile games are mindless experiences with zero artistic value. They eat your brain away and ruin your attention span
Real games, like Red Dead 2, Witcher 3, Elden Ring... you can't play those on a phone

how often do you need the keyboard, lets say I go on a trip and only have enough space for the ally, without having a keyboard would be softlocked out of games
Never got soft locked but side text features in games won’t work are one in a million.
Im loving mine! I dont even use armory crate. Got mine loaded with nes, snes, ps1,ps2, gamecube and saturn games and it runs them great!
Bro, Saturn games sound lit. 🔥
@@Biggrittz yeah got a few! Including panzer dragoon, nights into dreams, powerslave (exhumed). Super fun! If you or anyone is interested search “ emulation station setup guide EMU DECK” by dna mobile gaming. Pretty easy to set up and have all ur roms/emulators in on slick program.
is the ROG Ally a hard alterative for kid rather than a Switch,
is it more complex for adults
and The Steam Deck is the PC version of The Switch?
Do not buy the ally for a child they will hate it.
@@riomendoza1111 from experience?
@@EazyMcQueenmore so the rog ally is using windows 11 in a handheld format. And unlike steamdeck you end up needing to update a bunch of drivers, launchers etc that simply would make it too hard to get into for a kid. Assuming that kid isn't a PC gamer. The rog ally's users generally know what they're getting into and don't mind trade-offs
@@eon4831you nailed it on the head.

It’s called the gimmiebox keyboard. Here’s a video I did about it. czcams.com/video/6n8aU5J7pfk/video.htmlsi=mob9CJy5rEXm7wXZ the link to buy it is in the description of this video.
I have win 11 on my steam deck 🤷♂️
Friend of mine told me he thought of putting win11 on his deck intriguing. How do demanding games run on it?
i sold my ally only played steamdeck windows sucks for handheld i could give you a list with shit i got
Intriguing, could I hear the list? Lol
Did you know Ally can run Linux w/ Steam deck kernels? Steam deck can also run on Windows 11?
@@Biggrittz in windows ui it shows my sd card in steamdeck ui not . red dead II does not work graphicscard error it fried a sd card also it sucks
i know i payd 650 euro it not my job the make it work

I mean the problem with Ally and Lenovos version of a portable game console just gets blatantly obvious when you compare it to the steam deck. The steam deck is simply superior in build quality, battery life, more polished and significantly more optimized. On paper the Ally & Lenovo should smash the deck, but in reality the steam deck obliterates the competition, the 1% lows are so much better on the deck it's not even funny. Gamersnexus has several comparisons between the ally, Lenovo & SD and on the benchmarks it becomes very apparent how superior the SD actually is, thats where the Go and Ally fall appart, shittier experience in every single way possible, this isnt to crap on Lenovo or ASUS's console, they are still better than GPD's offerings, but it really shows how important optmiziation is especially for a handheld console.
Build I disagree, the ally is smaller, quieter, Joysticks are tighter.
The steam deck is a optimization masterclass. But it kind of needs to be. It’s got a team of developers to make it run todays games. Which I give credit to valve for doing.
In gamersnexus videos, it seems he had the ally capped at a lot lower wattage during the benchmarks. Thing is ally pushes 30-60w of power when taking heavy. Hence why the battery is worse. Is their any where videos where he benchmarks in 25w or 30w turbo mode?
@@Biggrittz While the ally is smaller it's not by a significant amount at all, quieter is not entirely true, this is where it depends which fan you get with the steam deck, the delta version is louder while the huaying, especially with TPM pads is essentially inaudible, joysticks are better on the Deck imo, however the default configurated deadzones are ridicolous, so I'll give you that one, however shell, buttons etc. are far better on the Deck not to mention the motherboard and daughterboards are better designed on the Deck, the ally isnt exacly known to be a long lasting product in partcular the SD card positioning on the board is very much a hot topic.
There are benchmarks where it goes full uncapped TDP on the wall plugged in and it still loses against a 15W steam deck. The ally has higher average framerate, but due to the massively unstable nature of the framerate which gets represented quite well in the 1% lows, the steam deck gives you a far better experience. It's essentially a battle between laggy high FPS or smooth low FPS.
What makes this even more insane is the Decks insane 3rd party support, be it software or hardware. You can buy displays, hall joysticks, custom shells and whatnot to upgrade the deck significanly, the ally doesn't get the same love due to it's unreliable, limited nature and confused role. ASUS seemed to have missed the memo about what the ally is supposed to be, a gaming handheld, the very poor battery life is simply silly at this point in time.
@@danishblunt9698SD card is by far the worst thing about the build in the ally. I hate it. ASUS put the slot right next to the fans and hardware they could have put it on the bottom or anywhere else.
I held both deck and Ally I think both are great in build. Ally has softer buttons and I’d argue the dpad is better than deck or the legion.
0.1% lows I feel a hard metric to go by. Consistently lagging is bad and where I draw the line.
However Just having a low 0.1% fps for less than half a second booting up than being smooth for the rest. Imo is just pc’s being pc’s.
I’m not sure the case with the two handhelds. I’d like to ask games tested or link to specific videos where this is shown. From experience the ally does not have laggy gameplay Or crappy 0.1% spikes. At least for me.
In benchmarks I seen the ally clears deck in all metrics when the 25w turbo or the 15w performance mode is on. Or It Doesn’t scatter around in fps like a pc without drivers.
Also, what interest me. The deck can Run Windows 11. & Vise Versa, Ally with Linux w/deck Kernels attached. I’d argue this could affect benchmarks.
