- Here's my Tutorial of how to use the controls/shortcuts for the Redragon K580 Vata Mechanical Gaming Keyboard. I go through all of the different RGB settings, all of the customizability of the lighting, and how to program the G1-G5 Keys.

You know a keyboard's pretty good, when the same model is available, two years later. I've got three of them, but I never remember how to set up the lighting, so this video was helpful.

I think controlling it without using a program is a plus. Less junk software on your computer. Usually more reliable as well.
Once I set it up, I never changed I again, so that's totally reasonable.
The only downside to that is it doesn't change according to what program you are using. With my old keyboard, I programmed it via software to highlight frequently used shortcut keys so I would remember them. But I moved it to a new computer, and lost all of my programming. On the plus side, with this one, no matter what computer I plug it into, it will keep my color coded keys. I just wish there was more than one set.

I don't have this model, but this helped program my Redragon G keys. Thank you! I have a half keyboard that I got for digital art and couldn't figure why it wouldn't record what my other keyboard was typing. I do wish they had a driver instead since I can't program keys that aren't already on the keyboard.

I found this video when searching for how to fix the page up and down keys on this keyboard. If I plug in a microsoft keyboard my page up and down work fine, but when I plug this back in, page up and down act like home/end. Anyone know how to fix that so they work like page up and down keys?

i must have had a brain fart or something reading it, but just hearing you say it out loud i was able to make my keys red in under 4 min. thanks dude. keyboard is loud as hell though lol.

I bought that same model of keyboard on Amazon and I must say that I loved it, I just have a small problem.
When I press the Rec button to program a "G" key the lights on the right do not turn on and it does not allow me to change the programming of the keys, I already tried to restart the keyboard, download the software and reset the keyboard macros but it seems that the Rec key is not responding. Any idea what I can do?
Unfortunately no. I made this video so long ago, I don't have that keyboard anymore.
i like how because of how the prices here in my country were. i now basically have a k580 and a m801-p too
just like grant here. both go just the tad bit further than the competition for the same price. even among redragon.

Great review, I was just going through this to see if there was any additional details for the G keys. Great keyboard, but a bit disappointing that there isn't more capability in terms of the length of custom macros, and also like you mentioned, the lighting is a bit of a hassle with no integrated software. Razer has a much better handle on things in that regard, but at 5 times the price point. 🤣
Yeah, I prefer my Logitech keyboards.

Hello so when you make a custom colour setting, How do you save it on one of the macro keys?
The backlighting of the macro keys aren't programmable.

Found this keyboard at a goodwill so i didn't have a manual to read. So this was a big help for me, thanks! One question I have is can you change the color on the top bar where the custom keys are?
I'm not sure. I don't have that keyboard anymore. You'll have to go into custom key color mode and see if you can change those ones

How do you turn all RGB off, including the sides? That would be my preference.
I show how to do that in this video. FN+"Pause" button will change the color till its "Off" I also show how to do the keys themself in this video too.
I ordered this now. After your unboxing video. My first mechanical keyboard as well. I just use keyboard for sending scathing emails to employees at work. Might as well add some color to it. I wanted to get the corsair k70 mk2 se... But that needs two usb ports...
I've never heard if a keyboard needing 2 usb's must be pulling a lot of power for all the lighting on it.
@@GrantButler one was for the keyboard itself the lightning and all, the other USB is for the USB pass through.

At the left of the scroll wheel there are 4 lights, dont know what does or how to select the 3rd light the one that has a arrow pointin down, any help please?!
That's usually indicating if your Caps Lock is on

@AAlmurik oh, that one is Windows lock; locks out the Windows button on your keyboard.
@@GrantButler in my vata pro the light for block the windows button is the last one, the light I'm asking about is in between the caps and windows, the icon over that light is an arrow pointing down
It got delivered to me today, the numlock and caps lock indicators are not glowing, do I need to program it? Is it a problem?

I don't think this one stores more than one profile.
Does anyone know if the lights under the media keys/buttons can be turned off? They are kept on even if the computer is powered down. Thanks for that useful tutorial, Grant!
That's odd. I don't think that you can. Hopefully someone else will see it and be able to tell you for sure

@@adityakrishnamalhotra1 I actually returned it after 2 months. I've never had a mechanical keyboard, and especially one with the metal frame. The tin-y and loud clicking was too much for me. And the spacebar wasn't sensitive enough for me too so I was hitting it and it wouldn't react
@@adityakrishnamalhotra1 the browns are quieter. Depends on if you like the tactile sound that the blue switch offers or would prefer a quieter brown switch

I prefer my Logitech g610 much more than this one. I haven't touched this Redragon one in years
hey i want to have the rainbow keys back but now everzthing is just this pink ish color i know i can change it by fressing fn + spacebar but in want it to be just like it was before i customised it please help

I don't have this keyboard anymore, but I think its FN+"Right arrow" then it should get you to different colors and eventually Rainbow. You may have to press FN+"Insert" too.

I have the keyboard, and it feels great. However, my record button doesn't work...when I press it, there're no flashing lights, so when I press G1, it's just like pressing F1. Any helps?

Does anyone know how to unlock the FN key? I'm trying to program a backlight that has all my gaming keys highlighted, but when I press the FN+` combo, nothing happens. I recall this worked a couple months ago when I was watching this video for the first time, so I don't know what I did but I can't figure out how to unlock it.

Unfortunately since I posted this video 2 yrs ago, they've updated their software. Its now different, and I don't think it allows you to copy the Operating System anymore without paying for an upgrade.

@samh A few questions, because we may have the same issue... Is the update from using the software from Redragon site? Is your spacebar one of the buttons that doesn't work (possibly Function FN key as well)?
That software that have on their site did seem sketchy. I may need to contact them. Is their a manual way to Factory Reset this board? It was working fine and I tried replacing the switch or see if the contacts were loose. That all looks fine, but Spacebar doesn't work. Now it seems the FN key doesn't either. No combos respond.

@@GrantButler lol, I found out why, you just need to be in a mode where multiple colors aren't needed, THEN you press FN+Spacebar. So if you're in the Christmas Tree mode, it won't activate, because it needs all the colors.

Try pushing the FN key
Facing the same issue. Don't know which key combination I pressed. Now scrolling volume key brightens/dims the keyboard light. Please help if this issue is resolved for you. Thanks
same issue here. Press the button above the F12 key to toggle volume or lighting fade with the scroll wheel.

weird we got the same keyboard and mouse .... there is a program for the keyboard I got it on the site that had the wrong mouse program.... lol i did see the video cuz I couldnt get the mouse to work with

opposite but same issue and help the other fix it....... even weirder
That's weird, I wasn't able to find a link for a program to that keyboard anywhere. I did find the website for the mouse on a different site that the same company owns. Check out my video from a few weeks ago on that one
there actually is a software to control it. The only thing you can't control with the program are the side strips
Must be new, that's awesome! When I first got this keyboard I reached out to the company, and they didn't give me any information on where to find drivers. They just pointed me to the instruction manual

i bought the keyboard but im kind of dissapointed because you can't really customice the color, you have somo default opcions/colors and thats it, if you want a diferent color like IDK a very light blue you just can't and the software is bad because if you select a color the keyboard will show you just the one that it haves from the default opcion
