  • The Fender HM Strat is back and louder than ever. Originally released in 1988 by Fender Japan, this new model shares the same look as the original with updated high-gain HM humbucker and single-coil pickups in an HSS configuration. A fast thin “C” maple neck with maple or rosewood fingerboard and 24 jumbo frets helps your fingers move quickly, and the Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo keeps your dive-bombs in tune. Available in eye-catching Ice Blue, Frozen Yellow, Flash Pink and Bright White with black hardware, the HM Strat is a powerful guitar that gets you to turn up the volume. We invited Chris Garza to check out the new HM Strat and share his first impressions.

I think this guy is new. Because, the Strat, has been a staple in the heavy metal Community, for decades. Just listen to ...and justice for all. Jimi Hendrix was using a strat to create the most metal tones ever heard. Well Tony Iommi pulled out Mary Ford's guitar. To create Black Sabbath sound. When you hear Black Sabbath, you instantly know what guitar he's playing. Because they all sound the same. But when you're listening to a musician with a strat in their hands, there's all kinds of debate as to what guitar they're using. Which only proves, the Fender Stratocaster is the most diverse guitar ever made.
I've owned my Strat for over 25 years. And her and I, won't be parting anytime soon.

@@claudelee5382 Heck.. Even my G&L legacy made in Indonesia would blow this out of the water.
I have other guitars that are more expensive or higher specs.. But that one is my favorite and most played.
It also is way more versatile than this guitar.
And.. I think it cost me around $500 or so.
If I wanted this style of guitar.. There are so many more affordable options for 900 bucks theae days.
This seems like quite a rip off..and I think that "strat" logo on the headstock looks cheesy AF.. Even if that's kind of the point, I would find it incredibly irritating.

    • @questionmark5463
      @questionmark5463 Před 4 lety

@@gmmakesmehurl Actually, I would have to disagree. G&L tribute guitars use the same parts as the US ones and the QC on mine seems really impeccable.
I did some minor upgrades like putting in a graphite nut, changed the bridge pickup to a Duncan JB and some gotoh locking tuners, but that's about it.
There's no Floyd, but I rarely use a floyd and have other guitars for that, but I have the bridge floating and it stays in tune extremely well.
Maybe I got lucky with this one because it just feels and sounds so good.. But I have played and owned other G&Ls including a beautiful ASAT Deluxe and all of them (including the Indonesian made one) are high quality and get more play these days than my Ibanez, old Jacksons etc.. Maybe the only other one I play as much is an old 80s Hamer Steve Stevens signature.
Usually for gigs or recording I can just take the Hamer and G&L.
      You should try one.
Edit.. Don't get me wrong. I have a lot of respect for Japanese made guitars. This though seems to have about 300$ tacked on because of the Fender name and nostalgia.
Hard to justify unless you are a big fan of the original ones.

I used to hear similar bad sounds years ago from my $199 Ibanez with muddy stock pickups played through a 20 watt Fender Mustang solid state amp, and I didn't need a bunch of pedals to make it sound equally as bad. This is why you put something in the online shopping cart, and then cool it for a while before you purchase it. These guitars were alder back in the day, and not basswood (which sucks). The pickups in this thing are cheap, the Floyd bridge is cheap, and I suspect the tuners are as well. And during this guy's "performance" you can see quite a gap between the neck and the neck pocket 1:08 . So, all of these things for over a grand, while there are Charvels, ESPs, and similar that are better made and for less dough. This guitar is marked up high based on the nameplate alone. This is a $699 guitar, not a 1k+ guitar. Come on, Fender!

@@nickford3328 yea I'm saying they're going to have to stop making the same thing over and over..some new body shapes, some 7, 8, 9 strings and be innovative. The biggest events that revolutionized the insturment were the creation of the electric, creation of the amp, EVH super strat and guitar tone and the invention of the 7 string. These things help breathe new life into the genre. Right now it's still living off nostalgia and that only goes so far bc to most younger players that is not what's in demand. They gotta stop repeating themselves, keep the old stuff but don't be afraid to explore it won't keep people from buying Les Paul customs to have a killer 9 string Gibson or something else new for these traditional companies.
