These are made at Fujigen where they make the Ibanez Prestige models. When looking at it in that light the price isn't that bad.
I bought the 2020 Ice blue skeptical about the$1300 price tag, but I gotta say, I did not expect it be so into it out the box, you know when it the neck just feels right, it's like the perfect handshake, really loving the 17"flat radius, yes I could've got a charvel 24dk all speced out and I do wish this guitar was in the $600-1000 range but somehow I don't feel any regret about my new hm! Honestly if you can get your hands on one and even test it, it's worth it! Also personally the coil split and pickups sound are really tasteful for many genres
@@Boostlu you still have your hm strat? Just picked up an ice blue one today, barely got her home 😅
Not bad for a 90's kid. 😂❤
Looks awesome, but would make sense at 500-600 USD/EUR price range. Jackson offers much more for the money and for lower price tag.
I've owned many of these. The only ones that were good had serial # E8xxxxx , made in 1988. They had far superior necks than the same HM's from 89 and 90 . You could visually see the difference in the maple and hear a marked difference. Not sure how these new ones are but if you ever get a chance to buy an original that has an E8xxxxx serial , GRAB IT . Great playing and sounding guitars !
I have an original HM strat. The bridge is different & the bridge pickup is a Dimarzio super distortion.
Yes,they had Kahler Spyder heavy duty locking tremelos..I had 5 of the originals and I hate the Floyd Special, but I buy some guitars and keep extra german Floyds for guitars with stock tremelos I don't like. easy swap.
I love Fender, and obviously they make great instruments. A lot of the new stuff (or old and rereleased) this year like the Lead, the squire Starcaster, etc. all look absolutely amazing. My issue with these Strats is that they are basically a Charvel. Fender owns charvel and I feel like they are competing with themselves. I understand more people will recognize the Fender name and it will be a good competitor with Ibanez and Jackson, but I don’t know. I mean the instrument is amazing. Maybe I’m just butt hurt. There’s a reason I didn’t make the most iconic (or second depending on who you are) guitar company in the world.
Ophelia Rose im surprised this superstrat is back on the market, im a jackson ibanez and ltd fan for a longtime, a white with rosewood fingerboard definitely i would consider to buy!!!!
Jackson is owned by Fender too.
That is kind of their pro rocker division no wonder it’s so popular
and now please reissue the 85 one pickup HM Strat Fender ! doesn't even need a Floyd Rose
Isn't that just an EVH striped series? czcams.com/video/WV0BW4npSYw/video.html
They gotta bring back the showmaster line
Especially the Flathead
Great demo.
Just wish they did the maple fretboard with the other colors
the original ones had the walnut skunk stripe in the neck & had super bright tone almost to the point of being cold & brittle.
Without stainless steel frets... and graphite rods :(
... and with a Floyd Rose Special
Don't worry, I'm honestly thinking Fender will start putting stainless steel frets on their guitars around 2040, so only 20 more years of having to pay an almost $400 on refrets for your Strats and Teles.
Iv had two of those iv always believed they were underrated
No way they used a Floyd Rose special at that price point 🧐
It’s a bad move when charvel put them on the pro mod series . I have a special on my Jackson SLX green crackle but that was only £500.
I’m getting serious lust for these though as not many pink pro mods around
I agree. They should have gone at least with a FR 1000 if not FR Original
My exact thoughts
wheres the link for the couch
Sounds great! Awesome playing as well!
Awesome but utterly and unnecessarily expensive, ill stick to my jacksons and charvels.
I mean to have a Japanese model for the price of 999 I think that's pretty cool.
Joss
fazeel ashraf ha it costs more than the Japanese Ibanez Rg550
@@pablo9364 as a guitar shop owner myself these are value for money and are better than the RG550 Genesis guitars IMO
@@GakCoUk I have an original one which ive had from new 1989, a great guitar, thats why I still have it, I am interested in these, is the quality comparable to the originals? Fabulous playing here!
@@deanlunn1969 THE NECKS ARE AS WIDE AS AN RG550?
i have an original HM. these new ones don't have the TVX pots like mine does, and the humbucker should have been replaced with a PAF Pro. makes a big difference in sound.
No matte black?that's a pure heresy !😎
These are made in the Fujigen factory where the Ibanez Prestige models are made. In the UK I've not seen a new Ibanez Prestige for less than £1300. The price is decent for a Fujigen made Fender.
Ibanez RG550 Genesis was under £1K...
The local guitar store in town they used to have two of them the real one back in 2005, one was white and the other one seafoam green they tagged it for only 300 bucks each, at that time that was soo uncool and outdated to have that guitar and now 2020 i still feel the same lol.
if you need to change your frets so often that stainless steel is a deal breaker you're doing something way different than most players
Yea honestly I've seen a lot of people complain about how they don't come with ss frets and im just surprised how do they wear out regular frets out so fast
They are a deal breaker for me now that I have guitars with them. I find myself needing to polish my nickel fret guitars every string change to get as close to the slippery smooth feel of my SS fret guitars. I just can't see spending more than $1000 on a guitar that doesn't have modern features and to me stainless steel frets are near the top of the list.
Also I've done a handful of fret level and crowning on my guitars and I do wear down the frets. I play typically at least 2 hours a day. That adds up for sure. The casual player who logs an hour a week, sure any frets will do.
@@SixString_J5 picky people are always picky....if you can't slip n slide to your liking then you should probably butter up your fingers more LOL
John Hooten didn’t guitarists just do fine with just nickel frets for decades? People act like stainless steel cant wear out either just takes longer
@@danielvelkovski3156 Yes they did. Cars owners also used to be just fine with carburetors, wooden wheels with inner tube tires, etc.
Something better exists, so it's not a crime to want that better feature.
Love my 3 Original HSS, HM's I bought in the 90's. For $500 $300 New. Also found a used Body & Neck at $225. So far I've looked EVERYWHERE to see if they still have the Two TBX Tone Controlls they came with in the 1st version's? It does sound like it on most Demo's I've seen? However I haven't been able to verify that in ANY Advertising I've come across & I've been looking EVERYWHERE?????
Ps: I would LOVE 💘 to own a new one However the price (Though Not Excessively Expensive as Value per $/€?) would probably force me to find an original 88/92 for less? But I think the Rarity of a New One would be for Bragging Right's & It's Still The Most Awesome Guitar Fender EVER PUT OUT. (In my Book) & @ 55, I do Own Lot's of Fender American, Charvel/Jackson, Schecter, Ibanez, & BC Rich 😁
James Tippens Sadly they omitted the TBX on these reissues.
I remember chatting to Joss over a year ago about trying to help him track down an original HM Strat in pink. It’s crazy to see this and I now think that fender have been tapping my private messages…
I would've bought one if they had it in ferrari/candy red with rosewood fingerboard
How the pickup bridge sound ? Like dimarzio super D or not ?
Dissapointed in the pickups, but im glad they used a floyd rose instead of the horrible knock off on the originals. a bit expensive though. I would probably get a charvel or jackson over this.
SonicAids - I have a couple of the originals from the 80s, and don’t consider Kahler 2720 Spyder to be a “horrible knockoff” at all. In fact, Spyder is a solidly machined piece of precision engineering and a real rival to Floyd Rose’s Original. The model that really combines all the best features of both Floyd Rose Original and Kahler Spyder AND makes them even better is Gotoh’s GE1996T. Whilst stock pickups on the re-issues may not be all that impressive (and neither is a Floyd Rose Special, in fairness), there’s an (over)abundance of aftermarket pickups to suit any taste. And, swapping out the Floyd Rose Special for either a Floyd Rose Original or Gotoh GE1996T is a piece of cake, since both are direct replacements.
@@BeardyAirways I love the kahler on my original. I like it better than the Floyd 1000 on one of my other guitars.
I love your strat, not to mention your couch!
Not a bad price, might spring for this as opposed to a charvel dinky. But then again the dark neck on the dinky is so nice
Used to have on just like that! Bought it in Jed's music in North KC back in 1991. Paid $800.00
JOSS ON FIRE !
Well if they're not making any left handed models I really not intrested and sense they bought charvel and aren't making but a few left handed models in black only Im not interested in them either. So it looks im stuck with gibson prs esp which makes fine guitars but always wanted a charvel just not in black
Joss deserves a place beside YJM and Vai!
Holy shit he can play
Why is the vibrato not being used?
You could put a Hello Kitty ukulele in Joss' hands and I would still need a moment alone after watching him play.... \m/
Amazing, need to buy one.
I already own a White Strat Standard USA (SSS), but this is pretty cool!
What do you guys think, should i go for the White or Pink model?
Some things from the 80's can be left there - like that Strat logo .
Reminds me of Tony MacAlpine that was Guitar’s look 👀 killer!
How about the tone of that Blackstar amp?! Wow! Nice!
What happened to the Floyd rose? I wanted to see if you can keep it on tune , I bought me one and it never tunes when I use Floyd rose, the pick ups are terreble .
sounds awesome
is 80's cool again? when did that happen?
Never , the 80's weren't cool in the 80's . I was there !
I was there! And it was the best era of all musicians and vocals.
@@chasingtone5748 I'm a musician . The 80's were the beginning of the end as far as I'm concerned lol.
Everybody in the band had to be good, vocals, drummer, bass, and guitarist. As a teacher! I can teach mostly any student how to play this new stuff in a very short time frame. 70's, 80's, and until mid 90's you had to have talent. After then?
Stranger things
where's the whammy bar?
Fatt Philosopher yeah you can’t have a metal strat without a god damn whammy bar
I really want one!
I love my fender hm 80’s made in Korea
waw what a comeback!!!!!!
How does it stack up against a Yamaha PAC612VIIFM Pacifica?
BEAST!!!
That swirl line is so 80s..
Hi Josh, your sweep picking is sick man. How can you do it so smoothly?? 🙌🙌🙌
"Fucking Practice" Jared Dines
At this point the guitars are irrelevant cuz joss can make anything sound good...and TBDM is the shit, nice shirt 🤘
I would rather buy Ibanez or Schecter for this type of guitar.
ARE THE NECKS ON THE HM AS WIDE AS AN RG550?
I cant say I like anything about this guitar. It's been done before and much better by Fender and a half dozen other manufacturers with better quality components. If it was half the price and my GAS was acting up maybe, but I'd still probably get something else.
Too late. Already bought my Friedman Cali.
Those are such amazing guitars, completely different league from the HM Strat.
Nice guitar
I want one so bad!
Fuck my old boot, I want one! If only they were hard tail.
What price?
Theses must be great guitars I can't find a fender hateshem anywhere
Floyd Rose Special?
No.
Fender is greedy. I predict they'll finally put stainless frets on their guitars around 2040, and I'm serious.
GET OVER IT!
just buy the tom morello strat, why would they release this the same year?
This is how you demo a guitar
heavy metal strat but , no color option in black. WTF
Haich, what's a haich?
Basically an Ibanez 🤷🏾♂️
floyd rose special is the worst trem which is not made to last many years (i have one with an Epiphone, the guitar was sold )
but you can try but i think he would never say that as a seller
I have an original HM from '90. It had the Spyder on it, and I blocked it because it felt, well, cheap. I felt like I'd tear it up if I used it too much. Anyway, the guitar is fantastic. Been my #1 for 30 years.
I HAVE THE PURPLE
Why am I getting Dawn dish soap ads on this video
It is so disappointing that it comes with a Floyd Rose Special!
floyd rose special on a $1200 guitar 🤦♀️
A heavy metal guitar that doesn't come in black 😐
Brad Lee Stone ikr it’s fuckin stupid
Yeah black would be cool. In the 80s, the phrase "heavy metal" was often associated with spandex "Hair Metal" which is why the guitar colors are bright. I think these look cool but yeah a black one as well would be tight.
What's my point
Would it be smart to buy one as an investment and never play it
Investment?!?!? LOL, you can buy a real one, from the '80s, for way less than this thing.
@@MrIkesimba all the ones i see are like 2500

1000.00 and no case?
I would not pay the price they are asking for that. I can get 2 new Ibanez's for the price of that.
I could get 2 Hyundai's for the price of a Mercedes. Both have 4 wheels and get you from point A to point B yet both have German designers.
Ibanez at the same price point as the Fender rolls out of Japan. I own the Fender and the build quality shows.
Definitely will not buy because of basswood and floyd rose special...neither it has SS fret...and $1200...no point...
THOSE WERE LIKE TWO FOR A DOLLAR LOL
Only downside, floyd rose special... for around $1000 ummm yeah
i prefer charvel.
EL DISEÑO y LAS PASTILLAS NO GUSTARME, SE VEN MUY TOSCAS Y ANTIGUAS, MAL DISEÑO, LUCE MUY CORRIENTE
Once again fender are late to the party just like they were when they released the original ones ...overpriced nostalgia
why not make that heel for the standard line? that's always bugged me. leave the block heel joints for the traditional models.that and a FR Special for that price isn't very good
Don't get me wrong I love these guitars I am am 80,s guy but my problem is cheap parts on a £1000 guitar were as charvel,Jackson are offering original floyd rose 1000 units with Duncan's or dimarzio pickups for less money and all fender are doing is cashing in the fact it's a fender
@@eoinjames4018 : But bro "it's a FENDER 😤 " that logo on the headstock is worth $400 alone 🤓
Looks like the Squier Showmaster Lol
Shame about the headstock.
I love it !
I'm mixed with it but probably never going to see one
ohhhhhhh the Headstock is the best part !!!!

Maybe if was natural in colour and it said Fender on it 🤔
@@vincentdoyle6987 hmmmm, you must be one of those guys who think that the only guitars out there are either Gibson or Fender

Basswood body sounds nasally and Hollow

@@1970borntorun Tonewoods. Lol. What a goob.
If Basswood is good enough for Eddie van halen ( most epic tone ever created), Joe Satriani, Steve vai etc then it's good. Tone wood is a myth anyway. It's the pickups, amps, hands that makes your tone. If something feels too treble-ish, Bassy, muffled, adjust the EQ, presence etc.
surprised japanese techs would touch a fr special. steel screws into a zinc body. pass. money grab.
Or just buy a nice charvel lmao
a grand and no hard case? I'm out
ukguitarnoodle it’s Japanese
I don't understand. What's so nostalgic about a pink guitar seems like there's this push to feminize the male electric guitar player.
the best axe from Fender.. only a little worse than the original...
Fabio Martini that’s debatable, the originals had an awful Kahler on them. These just have a Floyd Special, easier to swap a Floyd Special for an OFR than a Kahler for an OFR 😂
