    Hey Matt I’m completely new to this. My girlfriend who’s currently pregnant was headed to meet me at a friends house during heavy traffic one day. And while at a standstill she was hit by a truck driving on the highway at 50mph. After speaking with the adjuster I decided the next day to look into what an adjuster does. That was back and November 2019 and currently I am about 3 days licensed. Part of that success is thanks to these videos you do which are very informative. Helping to make dreams a reality can’t be quantified. Appreciate the info and advice.

    Regarding the activity reports, do the insurance companies give you those templates for the data entry?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 3 lety +1

      Generally speaking, yes. Many carriers will have some kind of estimating guidelines document and templates should be in there. If not, it's important for your contact attempts and first contacts to always include the number you called and the time you called. When you talk to somebody, be sure to include their first and last name and if they're not a named insured, what their relationship is to the insured.

    Can you define "settled" for me? Just a complete estimate right? Supplments don't matter right? Will the desk adjuster take care of the claim after estimate is completed?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 5 lety

      Depends. Generally, no matter who the first adjuster is, if they create an estimate and give the insured a total then the claim is “settled.” If it needs to be reopened or supplemented then that can fall on the original adjuster or somebody else down the line.
      As an IA you may be responsible for supplements and additions to the claim.

    • @listenkaren8222
      @listenkaren8222 Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you so much! I’m use to settling them after the supplement. Most adjusters don’t write in building ordinance. Doesn’t that hurt the pay? I appreciate you answering my questions. I just passed the Texas All lines exam. Yikes! I use to be a Class A general contractor in Colorado. I’m very excited to not have to deal with the cash flow of the contractor doing the claim.

  • @frbird51
    @frbird51 Před 5 lety

    Excellent video, it answered a lot of questions I had about the deployment process and what to expect when I finally get deployed. Your video did leave me with another question though; what happens when you close a claim on site, you and the insured have agreed on a final amount, and then the file reviewer finds a mistake you made (perhaps you allowed for the repair / replacement of something that the policy doesn't cover in your estimate) and kicks that claim back to you for correction? How do you handle a situation like that?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 5 lety

      Great question..
      So it's important to note that not all carriers want IA's settling in the field. In that case, I'd still write up everything possible before leaving the house, even if you can't settle on site with the customer.
      As far as corrections go, it happens occasionally. When it does, I just call the homeowner back and explain the revision and that the estimate they receive in the mail with the check will be different than what I went over at the house. Only a handful of carriers require IA's to write checks in the field so if you overwrite, you're not taking the check back (ever) - you'll just get told to tighten up your claims. If I underwrite because I missed something and I wrote a check, I'll just say that there'll be another check coming for the difference and that there'll STILL be an RC check once the work is done.
      In the beginning, it's better not to try to settle on site until an adjuster has worked the kinks out and isn't getting files kicked back for stuff all the time.

    Seriously, though - the sooner you close claims, the sooner you get paid, the sooner you pay off your credit cards, and start making the real money. But doing so few at a time, how do you hold off the claimants when you have 40 or more claims on cue?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 4 lety +3

      You have to ramp up quickly. The name of the game is volume, but if a brand new adjuster doesn't give themselves room to get up to speed in the first couple of weeks, they will fail completely and the 40 or more insureds in the queue will end up delayed with another adjuster anyway. I've set up dozens of new adjusters with this and it hasn't been a problem.
