That's what having a good scriptwriter and competent director with a clear vision does for your film, most movies today are a mess of rewrites and reshoots.
John Wick is the same movie of action of one man, nothing new, action scenes witout sensing ( men running unnarmed against John, one by one how good extras... see again, the movie dont hace creible action scenne, everthing is about acrobacy witout meaning

Yeah, you had someone like Sauron who feared Aragon, but that was mainly because he didn't wanna see a king return to the world of men and why he wanted to burn Minas Tirith to the ground. Or the White Which from Narnia: The Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe. Her provocative though was that she feared the prophecy, and the return of Aslan, not the children of Adam and Eve. In this series, you have the bad guys literally fearing the good guy cause he used to be their associate and they had seen firsthand of what he could do and that's why they fear him. It's a nice twist and flip on that view.
I like how what these people perceive John Wick's reputation as the scariest is not necessarily his skills, but is centered on him never giving up and always seeing things through to the end.

You know, it took catching Taken 2 on cable for me to realize what a clever subversion this whole opening is. It works both as a way to tie up the events of the first movie while also being at the jab at the old sequel trope involving the brother of the villain seeking revenge. John doesn’t even kill anyone in this whole opening.
