How to Clone M.2 NVME to M.2 NVME is pretty simple with Acronis. Smash the LIKE BUTTON 👍
@Britec09 Excellent video thank you for the information, Is there an email were one can contact you on because I have a few question maybe you could help me with.
I don't get why I would pay for a subscription? What happened to just buying the software outright? Is there an option for that?
Awesome, Brian!
I'll be doing this tomorrow when my larger M.2 SSD arrives.
I've been using Acronis for a long time now thanks to your recommendations. All my PCs at home. Well worth the subscription cost for secure data backups etc.
Cheers!
acronis offers a distinct feature of cloning a M2 drive, fantastic tutorial Brain.
They sure do, been using them for years
People like you and I are computer literate enough to know to do this but it's probably worth mentioning for everyone else before you even start the clone make sure you clean up all your temporary files and make sure you run your antivirus to make sure there aren't any viruses or other malware on your system because a Cronus doesn't care what one thing is and what another isn't it gets them all and everything on that drive will be cloned to the new drive.
That is a valid point
Very handy video, been looking to upgrade to a 1TB NVMe when a good offer comes up and I got Acronis to so very handy :)
Thanks
Cloning hdd2ssd or ssd2ssd, you recommend use of bootable media, or not, by not i mean boot windows10/acronis and clone from acronis normal software..? Also having a backup file of c drive/partitions can create a bootable c disk, correct? Also what use to edit your videos?
A question that I have is why do you create a boot USB flash drive in order to clone the drives? Surely you can just boot up your system and clone from one internal M2 to another? When I have cloned from a HDD to an M2 you just booted up from the machine that you wanted to clone from so I don't see the need or am I missing something? Also if you clone from one internal M2 to another what happens with the drive letters?
Will there be any problem in booting if we change the m.2 slots coz i would like to use the old one as an external drive with that usb adapter...
13.05.2023 - Worked - upgraded to 1TB from 128GB ( M2 SSD SATA 3 ) - i did it with the option of a BOOT USB. I took some time to copy from the 128gigs to the 1tera M2 SSD - but it worked perfectly. Thanks a lot for the tutorial !!!!!
Wonderful no idea about this. Thankyou very much. You're a great man. 😀
Happy to help
Thank you, Brian for the tip using Linux to create a bootable usb. Perfect tutorial. :-)
Glad it was helpful!
Cheers, thanks for the info :)
I have an older MB with only 1x m.2 slot and no heat shield. The new m.2 has a heat shield that won't fit inside the SSK Aluminum M.2 NVME Enclosure Adapter and if removed voids the warranty. Is there another adapter out there that will allow an M.2 with a heatshield?
I use the "Clone" feature in Acronis and it works fine and much simpler. You wouldn't have to go through all the making of a bootable drive.
unfortunately its not free
on my Asus Prime x470, there are two M.2 slots and if I want to clone it by putting the bigger drive on the second slot, I guess it's necessary to buy one with heatsink cover?
I know this is an old video but I’m wondering if you can take a second m.2 drive from another computer and transfer it to mine while keeping the data on the second m.2. My computer has one m.2 with windows 10 pro installed on it. Can I simply plug the second m.2 into my computer and retain all the data on the second m.2?
Hello Mr. Britec09.I am wondering why you can not simply open Acronis and click the CLONE DISK option from their main menu rather than going thru the trouble of creating a separate boot drive? Thanks for a clear and informative video.
Hello quick question. If i were to clone this method. will there be any issues with registry? i have files in my second drive that are linked to my software on the main drive..will there be any issue with registry or missing links if i were to use this method?
You can also use macrium reflect to clone drives also
no longer free
If PC has only one m2 slot, can you use a USB m2 drive reader with acronis?
Thank you for this tutorial.
You are welcome!
question about the first steps involved - making it bootable...never done that before, is it really necessary? why can't you just go straight to "clone disk"?? I've only done a clone once before for main system drive and it was using Amoei backupper and it worked perfectly...pretty sure i didnt have to do any of that "make it bootable" stuff but that was also using a regular ssd. Is there something special or different about m.2 drives? my m.2 upgrade is sata not nvme, if that matters at all.
How could I get the acronis to clone. Looking to upgrade my 1tb to a 2tb but still keep the 1tb as storage
Did u find a way?
Great video, Would this work also if I'm cloning a laptop ? I have a Aorus 15P WB , it has two slots for two M.2 NVME drives currently I have a 512 nvme , my O/S drive and want to clone it to a 1T nvme drive I have a nvme external enclosure to hold the 1T drive. Following your tutorial will this setup allow me to clone the 512 to the 1T?
Do I install the Windows ADK on the new m.2???? Or on the original???
I am adding a new M.2 to my system. I currently have a 980gb Corsair MP510 & am installing a Samsung 980 pro 1tb. I want to make the 980 my boot drive and remove the windows partition on the Corsair. Can I do this if I put the 980 in slot 1 and 510 in slot 2. Will there be a conflict if I boot up with 2 bootable drives installed?
Never mind my question, I did it and it works. Cloned an evo850 ssd to a evo960 nvme internally in a Nuc 7th gen I3. Had to rebuild the bcd boot but all was ok at the end.
Sorry I know this video is old but hope you get this; this is basically my same scenario but im using macrium reflect. I have yet to boot to new drive but when booting to original drive in windows I have an Issue where new cloned drive shows as F instead of C; if I boot to the new drive does it automatically change to C?
I see that you did not have that issue.
Just done something similar on a Laptop with no access to a USB NVMe drive using Macrium Reflect. Not a Clone in the strictest sense but works.
Do a full image backup of the old NVMe drive.
Swap the old NVMe drive for the new one.
Boot the laptop from Macrium recovery USB.
Restore the image backup (Partitions can be resized, though manually).
As an added bonus, this tests that your drive failure disaster recovery plan actually works as well...
Note: This was done with the paid version of Macrium Reflect, however the Free version works just as well.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Can this be done regardless of UEFI or legacy mode?
My question is, is there a way let's say if I bought 5 1tb m.2 ssd and merge them together to get 5tb and gain the performance of all of them in 1?
I want to switch my boot drive (1TB SSD) to a new 8TB SSD on my PC. Can I do it with cloning so I don't have to format?
yes thats the point. who clone drive just backup or piracy lol
Doesn't work anymore if you don't buy the license for True Image. You get to "proceed" and it says it's a trial version and won't complete.
is this still one of the best premium clone software for 2022? does it clone and boot win11 effectively? anyway of doing it without the Ultra usb 3.0 if I have 2 m.2 slots on my mobo? appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
Used Acronis too just last month to clone my M.2 SATA SSD to my new NVMe 970 EVO Plus. If you did your video at this period, I would've jumped right to it instead of digging between a lot of videos and infos on google to have a proper and concise tutorial. It's soo simple, so fast...like...nothin' happen lol goosh! I didn't want to have to reinstall all my softs again and other customs tweaks I did in 5 years of using the same Windows without reinstalling. But careful tho, you "might" encounter a BCD file error which will prevent you from booting. You would've to rebuild it. But this, I guess, happen in a raaare scenario.
One question @Britec : do you consider better to put an NVMe at the bottom of the GPU(where you put yours) or at the top? For proper Temps.
A free clone software vid would be great, thank you.
Coming soon
Great work!!
Samsung
@@BrandensOutdoorChannel you say Samsung but what if your older SSD is from WD and the new one is Samsung.. would that matter?
Hey man, quick question. I have a new M.2 SSD drive coz my old one is failing........ Can I just take out the old m.2 and install the new one?
Basically, i want a clean install of windows 10 and just re install all the drivers on this new m.2 SSD drive but I am just worried that if I take out the old m.2 SSD, my pc wouldn't boot since the updated drivers for my GPU, CPU, RAM, etc. is on that old m.2 drive.
I don't know if you get what I mean.
Thank you for the video but i did all the steps only to find out i cant do this with trial version of acronis wich made me lose a lot of time .....
if it is the OS (C) drive, i always use a Windows Image Backup to clone. i've used that method many times.
Thanks!
Thanks for the donation
Mine says repaying disk errors when booting to a new nvme. Prob something wrong with my files I guess
This has been on my list of things to do for awhile now, just ordered a new SSD.
Cool
Why is my clone FAT32 instead of NTFS and a fraction of the origin in size?
So, my one question is - the document , desktop and installed softwares and plugins which i installed in old SSD , all those will be cloned to new SSD ? Or just the operating system will be cloned to new SSD ?
Is there a reason you select a Linux OS? Still learning, and I want to make sure this will also move the OS so it boots from the new drive as well
Also: Is there a certain size usb I need to use?
Does this work when cloning SATA SSD to NVMe?
Once you switch to Samsung Drives you'll never want to go back to anything else. The ease of cloning is amazing and they just don't die.
Hate to be the one with bad news, but I'm watching this video because my 970 died after 2 years lol
No love for us laptop owners, got it... I will keep looking
My PC is UEFI in BIOS because i use mouse in BIOS/UEFI, this means my BOOTABLE C NVMe drive is Not MBR but is GPT....?
I plan replace my NVMe 500GB with NVMe 1TB... main partition after cloning with Acronis TI 2018, may needed extended or is done auto?
Where can i get a copy of Acronis?
how to create a link 1 m.2 to another m.2.
I would like to clone a regular ssd to a m.2 but both will be internal, is that possible or do I definitely need an adapter and clone the ssd to the m.2 externaly ?
Helow. Did you get the solution how to clone ssd to m.2?
@@mitjamuzek I just bought an adapter, it was way faster than to wait for an answer here !
@@philipperostin NVme adapter?
@@mitjamuzek yes a plastic case for it with usb c
A lot of extra steps here. Acronis can clone within Windows without the WinPE usb drive. Just run the clone. It will use VSD so everything will be duplicated.
Many ways to skin a cat
its better and safer to boot from another drive than the one clonning to assure you will have a perfect cloning. maybe some files or system files will be open or hidden or protected and the program will not copy the correct and complete file to the clone new disk.
how to clone m.2 ssd (sata) to m.2 nvme without pc?
good video
I’m planning to upgrade to a faster M.2 with 1TB. I wish to move Windows to the bigger and faster one and use the old one as secondary drive.
Me too, tell me u found a tutorial bro
Upload video on using Nimbus data DC 100 SSD ON gl553ve Laptop ASAP.
Yes, I would like to see the free options software that works in 2021.
its coming.
yea this one he advertises is not free for cloning
2023 it doesn’t work anymore free…needa to buy full version for the cloning.
DANG that dust!
there are a few easiest and free ways to do this
I dont get why you use USB boot disk? Can't you just clone the drives?
I didnt know u can buy a caddy. Thanks. My laptop ROG Strix 250GB ssd it getting full!
yeah, you can buy bigger drive and clone it over.
I’ve cloned Ssd and mechanical. I was wondering about upgrading my M.2.
HEY!..BRIAN UPLOAD VIDEO ON HOW TO FIX THIS ERROR ...SOMETIMES MY INTERNET CONNECTION FIXES MY JUNIOR..HE DOES NOT LET ME KNOW HOW HE DID .
Wonderfull.
Thanks
@@Britec09 I wish it had Turkish subtitles
Why not just use the samsung data migration program?
That does work really well, but only if the new SSD is a Samsung one
Good
Thanks
I already have both slots full I have a B550 500Gig 980 Gen4 in Top and a 1T 970 Gen 3 in bottom, Want to leave my 9701T alone cause it's for steam and storage, The OS is on the 980, But I want to clone that to a 980 1T or 2T Gen4, Guess I will need an external Adaptor, too clone the 500gig 980 over to a 2T 980? Guess I could pull the 970 out but really don't want to do that?
You can also plug that M.2 USB adapter into your internet "rooter" and do the transfer that way over a gigabit network Posted on Facebook Bye for now Cheers Thanks for all the members.........
i have windows 11 so i guess this acronis program dont work
I found the app was no longer free.
about as clear as mud.
yeah he is doggy doodoo at explaining and takes forever. People who don't understand partitions or bootable media won't understand how to do this. Besides, Acronis is complete garbage, you don't need to be powered off and not-booted to clone a drive, so there is no need to boot their garbage OS off a USB drive, huge waste of time. Other programs will clone from your drive to drive of choice while still running windows, 10x easier.
