This is exactly the road I am going down with my shapeoko XXL. I am close to doing what you have done just to keep it ridged and large. I agree a PM would be the way to go but I use this for car parts like inner fenders and interior door panels. I need the large work area and need it to have fairly accurate repeatability. Anyway, any chance you can list your components and maybe where you bought them? Outstanding video for us in this same situation. Thanks!

I'm getting alot of mixed information regarding the alarm wire, I have the same drivers and Masso, Do you need to install a sinking resistor to the positive rail of the alarm ? or are you running positive voltage and negative as the trigger?
Cool set up! Do you use the tapping head for Rigid tapping? I didnt think the masso controler supports rigid tapping. Did you figure out a way around it?
@@Th3mast3r69 is there a place where you can find the information on specific topics. For example I'd like to use ANY other controller that would support the Bitsetter and saving multiple toolpaths to the same file.
@@ClintonCaraway-CNC I'm not quite sure what you're asking, but most controllers will support a bit setter. The MASSO for example will accept any type you want. Look up CNCnutz. Steve over at Hindtechnology is awesome. I have never seen customer support as good as theirs.
Nice upgrades to you Shapeoko. I have a Precision Matthews PM940 milling machine that I converted to CNC. I am using a Masso G3 controller and have Clearpath servo motors. What do you usually make with your Shapeoko?
I just looked on thingiverse for Dan Story that you mentioned in your 1st shapeoko vid. Nogo, can’t find. You have a good link to his files or can you sell or share yours?
Im doing the same with my old shapeoko xxl. I built a new table out of 80/20 and then bought the hybrid table off Amazon with t-slots and mdf boards inbetween each slot. I switched to a gecko G540 controller with mach3. The linear z axis, and a 2.2kw water cooled spindle. I wish i would have known about the masso a few years ago before i switched over. It looks like a great controler. Also Ive been looking into ball screws and linear rails like you have done. It turned out great!. Any chance you can send me a step file for the plates on both ends of your x axis? And did you find the ball screws and linear rails the correct size or did you cut them to length? What did you to to insure they were square with each other when you mounted them? Did you attach the X axis first to use as a squaring fixture?
When you updated to the G3 and the CL5st, did you have to change the stepper motors? I’d like to upgrade my control board to gain 4th axis but don’t want to change my stepper motors yet. Eventually, I probably will but not ready yet.

Do you know how to set up the auto square? I have the masso and both y axis on separate. However, I can't find an option for squaring the gantry

The only resistor I use is for the touch block. The alarm wires go directly from the driver to the inputs on the MASSO

It is a regular tapping op with a higher retract speed

Its pretty straight forward. The MASSO is a great all in one solution. I highly recommend it.

If you want to keep the same motors, you can use DM542 drivers with them, but those drivers wont work with closed loop steppers
