    I bought a brand new 2020 Titan, although mine is a Pro 4X and I absolutely love it. I test drove them all and noting even came close, especially for the price and features. All of my friends (who own Chevy, Ford, Dodge) ride in my truck and I get nothing but compliments and they also very impressed. Most underrated truck on the market.

    I bought my 2018 Titan XD Pro-4X in 2019 and I love it. I tow a Keystone Outback at 8,500 lbs dry with no issues and we live in Colorado where altitude takes 30% off the horsepower. The Titan lineup is the most underrated truck in the segment. I’ve had not one thing go wrong since my purchase--pushing 35,000 miles.

    Great to see some honest content about the Titan XD out there! Your rig looks awesome! I agree with you on everything you said about the Titan, I also own a Titan XD but its a 2016 Pro-4X with the Cummins engine. It has been an amazing truck for the price and has a lot of features that are costly on any other brand like the gooseneck standard and all the keyless and LED features. We tow a aluminum 3 horse gooseneck among other bumper pulls across New Mexico and let me tell ya, big red does pulls up some steep terrain in the heat without a sweat! Definitely a truck built to tow and that's why the tow number ratings have also always confused me!! Enjoy your truck!

    On the bed cover, rolled up bed covers are awesome. Had a buddy try to tell me he didn’t want a bed cover cause he wanted to use his whole bed. I told him that’s the beauty of the roll up one. He never listened to me but if you use your whole bed and sometimes need a bed cover, get you one like this guy! You think you won’t need it but if you got a cab full of people and you need to load groceries and it’s about to rain, a bed cover is clutch. I’m serious. On vacations you have a huge trunk larger than any suv and you can keep your cab clean.

    Great review. I have the exact truck. I understand what you are talking about with the steering pulling slightly to the right. I noticed the same thing right after I got mine and asked my dealer. The senior tech said that because this steering is a recirculating ball type it is a natural feel coming from the crown in the road surface. After my older truck having a rack and pinion it takes a little getting use to, but now I don not notice it at all. The XD is built with heavy duty commercial components thus the different style steering. I also agree that the gas tank is to small. I just wish that Nissan had gone with a full-floating axle instead of the semi-floating axle. I love this truck and may be looking at the new 2021 with the 9 speed.

    Great review! I also have 2018 XD and I love it compared to my f150. It does sound like a diesel 😂, thanks for letting me know I wasn't crazy! I've had numerous issues with nissan service department. I had to replace my gas tank because, for some reason, it was gargling back out all the time, but when they replaced it, they forgot🤬🤯 to tighten it back into place. After 2 days, I had some fuel sensors kick on the info screen and I had to cancel my trip and bring it back to them to fix it and lose a day for that. The dealership also can't figure out that the tires need different psi! I have to train the mechanics. But besides all that, I do love driving it, even though it's a little bumpy, my Ford was smoother but had transmission issues with the Ford! I myself have a 2018 XD, the reason why it sounds like a diesel when it idles is that it might have a bad cylinder. Nissan has a bulletin out about it. My engine started sounding like a diesel around 20,000 miles. I ended up getting a new short block. Not all 5.6's have this problem but centers around cylinder #7 on the driver's side. So if your engine sounds like a diesel when idling get it checked out soon.

We eventually upgraded our trailer to the point it only made sense to upgrade our tow vehicle. I agree that they will discontinue them. I’m honestly surprised they made it this long!
      I did consider the 7.3 gas. Unfortunately with they way things are I couldn’t find one to test drive and once I drove the diesel, I was hooked. I think the 10 speed and the 7.3 would be an amazing tow vehicle. I’m honestly happy I went with the diesel because I have an upgrading issue and I would have always wondered how much better the diesel towed. I can deal with the extra maintenance costs, I just hope the emissions parts hold up.

    QUESTION; with the XD being a heavy duty 1/2 ton, why the need for the airbags? I have a 2016 Tundra, and for some reason, Struggle to tow my 6,500 dry weight, 26’ camper. Getting a wiggle in the rear that is bad over 45 mph, rough roads, etc. I see so many others tow 8-9,000 lbs plus with no issues. I’m starting to tweak my equilizer hitch, etc, and pray I can dial it in. I love my Tundra, but if I can’t get this to work where I can tow comfortably, the Titan XD could be in my future. I just wish this came up before inflation hit the car market. I’m also concerned that they are stopping production and wonder how long they will support these trucks. What kind of equilizer hitch do you use? I was going to build my own camper but my 64 year old body talked me out of it, lol. Thanks for the review

    • @BuildYourOwnAdventure
      @BuildYourOwnAdventure  Před 4 měsíci

      Airbags are great to add stability and help get rid of sag. With our gooseneck, we needed help leveling out the truck so we went with the bags. When we had a travel trailer, we used the Andersen WD hitch with no airbags and it pulled great. It was more for sway control than weight distribution since the titan could handle the tongue weight with no problem. I haven't towed with a Tundra, but I can tell you the Titan XD feels more like a heavy duty truck than a half ton. If you don't want to move up to a 3/4 ton or larger, you can't go wrong with the Titan XD. The support would concern me as well. Hopefully you can get your hitch dialed in and not have to spend the extra money for a truck. Be sure the nose of the trailer is level or slightly lower and that will help cut down on the tail wagging. Thanks for watching!

    • @jerrytalley802
      @jerrytalley802 Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks a million. The rv dealer installed my hitch since I wanted it to be just so. I had a slide seal replaced under warranty and my tech was kind enough to look it all over again and it looked perfectly set up. One suggestion from equalizer company was to lower the attachment point to take some pressure off the hitch and like you mentioned, it’s still there for sway control. I’ll make a mental note on the slightly lower than level on the tongue, which should happen naturally with pressure off the arms, lowering the brackets one set of holes. I have the equalizer with 4 point sway control. Seeing the nightmare scenarios of the trailers starting to sway until the wipe out the tow vehicle and trailer freaks me out. I think 90 % of those come from going too fast anyway. People can be really stupid. I almost wish they required a class (free of course), before you could legally tow. Even if it just covered things like slow down, using a sway control, etc. I really appreciate the feedback and hope I get this ironed out. If not, Hello Titan XD, here we come to save the day/sway, lol

    I pull a 6K travel trailer with my ford F150 5.0l through Utah. I can live with the low gas mileage, but I'm usually in gear 3-5 (out of 6) and with high RPM's driving 65-70MPH, what gear do you find yourself pulling your trailer? Is it the same in a diesel?

    • @BuildYourOwnAdventure
      @BuildYourOwnAdventure  Před 3 lety +1

      I mostly tow on flat ground here in NC. I usually tow in 6th gear (out of 7) at 65-70 mph. This is normally around 2000 rpms. If I travel west of where I live, in the hills or mountains, I normally manually lock my transmission in 5th gear. When I get to any decent grade, I normally downshift to 4th just before and the truck pulls in the 3000-3500 range. 4th gear is really strong in the Titan. In the mountains of WV it downshifted to 3rd quite a few times and we were turning over 4000 rpms. This was the most I've seen out of it and I have to say that the higher rpms made me less comfortable, but only because of the noise. The truck pulled great and I had no problems holding speed anywhere we've gone. It's very stable and is made for towing anything under 10k lbs. As far as a diesel truck goes, I'm not sure how it tows, but I will know very soon. I just purchased an F350 with the 6.7L, 10 speed. I hope to post a video or two on that truck in the future. Thanks for watching and safe travels.

    • @BuildYourOwnAdventure
      @BuildYourOwnAdventure  Před 2 lety +1

      I do think the extra weight and longer wheel base of a Titan XD will help with being blown around or sucked into the other lane when being passed by semis. I will say that I experienced the same with my XD while pulling a bumper pull travel trailer. A few things helped this situation though. I upgraded my weight distributing hitch to an Andersen and it almost eliminated the effects from big rigs. I could still feel a few every now and then but it was a huge difference from the Husky Centerline hitch I was using before. There are a few other options out there like pro pride, but those get really expensive. Could be worth it though I’d you don’t have to upgrade trucks. The other thing we did was move from a bumper pull to a gooseneck. That’s a big upgrade, I know, but it’s a completely different towing experience. You just don’t get pushed around by wind, trucks or anything. You would almost have to upgrade tow vehicles at that point though, so I would say that’s not a very cost effective option. Hope this helps. On a side note, I drove my XD across the scales at the landfill when empty a few times and found that with a full tank and just me driving it was right around 7000 pounds. It was a beast of a truck.

    Do you think this truck is efficient enough to be used as an every day truck? Lookin at a 2017 XD gas for $32k with 30k on the odometer .

    • @BuildYourOwnAdventure
      @BuildYourOwnAdventure  Před 2 lety

      When’s I had my Titan XD, I used it as a daily driver. It’s not the most efficient vehicle but I thought it did well for the size of vehicle. I usually got around 15-16 mpg going to work, usually running around 55-60 mph consistently. You can expect less if you’re driving around town. Maintenance costs were no different than any other gas truck, so that was a plus.

      @@BuildYourOwnAdventure Hmm ok so what is the maintenance cost like in a truck? This will be my first! I’m coming from owning a Jag an the maintenance cost was horrible. I never want to experience that again. Nissan is also offering a 7 year 100k warranty so that gives me more confidence to take that leap with Nissan. It’s between them an a F-150 right now.

      @@preshj0hnson I change my own oil, so for materials and a high grade synthetic I could change it for less than $100. Not sure what a dealer would charge, but I bet it’s much less expensive than maintenance on a jag.

      The factory radio did not come with CarPlay or Android Auto in 2018. I believe they added that feature in 2019. I have since added an aftermarket radio that has both.

Nissan says there is no error code so they can't fix it without that despite the fact they have to yell at me to be heard over the alarms going off. Nissan is a deplorable company.
