    Hi Susan,
I watch your videos regularly and voraciously, and rarely chime in with anything other than a thumbs-up. But tonight I feel compelled to just let you know how much your thoughtful work means to me. I think that any "big show" trying to limit your expression is rather shortsighted (although your finished pieces still look amazing, and surely ought to sell!). But, wow, watching you paint, and reach for some unexpected color, and delicately weave it into your work, sometimes makes me want to gasp or weep. Your artistic impulses carry such teachable moments for a learning painter like myself, I just think they're pure gold. You really are a remarkable artist.
And while I'm at it, Scott is absolutely dynamite, too, in a very different way. I appreciate your separate and shared talents immensely, and the honesty, curiosity and fun that you bring to each one of your videos. We raggle-taggle students on the fringes are blessed to have such clear voices as yours guiding our way. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you for your very thoughtful message. I do think a lot of artists go through stuff and I hope me talking about it helps people feel they are not alone. It's rainy and glooming here, but your message brightened my day. :-)

That purple pastel is gorgeous. The work still shines even if you don't feel it was exactly what you wanted

Thank you for sharing your challenges as an artist that go beyond what happens at the easel.

I agree with Eric. The arrogance of these galleries! It certainly would be hard to paint pieces that you are not passionate about. However, the pieces you are sending are beautiful and tender. You are a fantastic artist and I thank you so much for being so real and sharing your feelings with everyone! I love your videos and have watched every one of them.

This video dealt with some of the same issues I am currently experiencing. My work has also been criticized for not being western enough as well . ..even though I paint western landscape. I also recently saw the stats concerning the number of women artists in national museum shows as well as galleries and we are still underrepresented. Your work is beautiful and I love the stretching you are doing palette wise as well as medium wise.
I keep telling myself that the remarks towards my work are politically driven and that I must continue to expose the beauty that surrounds us through my painting. Thank you for sharing your struggles through this video. It helped me today.❤

Hi Amy, it’s amazing that even landscapes are getting comments. I think we need to stay strong and we will be on the right side of herstory. .

If you like Frank Tennyson Johnson, you would love HowardTerpnings paintings of western scenes..
Also, the Coeur d’Alene Art Auction in Reno, Nevada every July is all about those types of paintings including many Russell’s and Remington’s.
I’ve gone to at least six of their art auctions every summer here in sunny Reno Nevada. ❤❤
The stremmel art gallery has been the host for at least 20 years !!

Oh yes, I know Terpning's paints well. I am sure that show is amazing, I have heard of it for years.

You are the real deal and I personally love your work. The Western scene is phony even out here in California so good for you getting your back up over it. How dumb! Honey, there are dumb people everywhere. Just do you!
