    Hi Mike,
    fill the Inlay in a empty (new/clean) long nose CA Glue Bottle and you can drop corn by corn of inlay.

    when i use the activator the CA glue turns white. How can I keep from doing this?

  • @holzcustomwoodturning7076

    What they don't tell you is that the activator only dries the top surface of the glue, I learned this the hard way so make sure to wait at least 20 minutes before starting to turn your ring to let the glue fully set all the way through

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  Před 11 měsíci

      If you hit the core it will scratch the core. However you can always polish that surface if needed. You can use a narrow parting tool to cut the material down without hitting the sides of the core.

      Most of the time it does. If it doesn't, I recommend using an Exacto knife to cut out the white areas.

  • @Fuster1975

    I love your products, but I think I have run into a problem. I followed the instructions as on the video, from the sharpie to the products; I ordered them all from Craft Supplies USA. I made rings for my wife and I and they looked pretty good for the first time.
    Now, the first thing is something that I thought about from the beginning, what is there for the CA to grab ahold of? Answer is nothing. This is where I think part of the problem comes from.
    So here is what happened. I was typing earlier today and happen to look at my finger. My ring was missing a huge chunk out of it. I wear a size 10 and the channel is relatively deep and wide. When I touched the rest of the inlay it began to come off the ring as if nothing. Even the black coating from the shapie was gone. Most of the ring is smooth as if nothing was ever on it, there was no adhesion to the ring itself. And my next question is, isn't CA relatively brittle to begin with?
    I bought a few sizes to try, and see how they sold. However, without a reliable bond and ensuring that the ring isn't going to break with a slight bump, I cannot sell these at all.
    Your suggestion on how to fix this is greatly appreciated.

      @leftmono1016 Před 3 lety +1

      Raul Fuster - I've only just started inlay rings and have had the opposite problem to you - I used a cheap turquoise inlay, didn't care for it, and it was incredible tough to break out.
      A lot of videos show the blank being roughed up with a needle file in order to give the CA something to grab on to. That also helps remove any contamination on the surface of the blank.

    • @trainwon5699
      @trainwon5699 Před 3 lety +2

      Raul Fuster I would rough up the surface with sand paper then clean it with denatured alcohol then use the marker. Hope this helps

  • @Conn0ro
    @Conn0ro Před rokem

    How come the glue becomes cloudy?

    • @CraftSuppliesUSA
      @CraftSuppliesUSA  Před rokem +2

      Typically the clouding comes when applying too much activator. I find it helps to spray the activator from further away (8-10 inches from the piece) and to use an aerosol can instead of a pump sprayer . Activating the glue too fast creates too much heat which leads to the clouding effect.
      Hope this helps!

    I got half way through before I thought to myself... why would someone who's buying a ring blank have a lathe and carbide tooling... surely if they had a lathe it would be cheaper to just make your own ring blanks

    • @ParkerDesigns05
      @ParkerDesigns05 Před 4 měsíci +1

      It may be cheaper but you have to think about time consumption. Spending a couple of hours just to make an identical copy of something you can buy for £8 is a waste of time, especially when you’re selling your rings!

      @@mikeyduke10 as someone who makes rings themselves I can see what you’re getting at and I agree, however from a business point of view there’s really no point. It’s not like you’re trying to prove that you’re amazing at your craft, most people (especially the customers) only care about the finished product, not about if you’ve made the ring blank or not
