    Useful video. Would be great to see a further guide on making adjustments to the brew time on the machine itself

    Grind finer so it takes longer. Also the encore is not really an espresso grinder

    For bitter heating the head is to press and hold the single shot for 3 sec and releasing the button.

    Beans roasted two days before? Fresh is good, but there is something like too fresh. In the first week the beans are still degassing. So two days? Not for me.

    Thanks. Great video. Can't wait to try as you did here. As thus far I've had no luck w a non pressurized basket.
    What grind setting do you suggest I start at? Using the breville pro grinder.

    It's hard for me to imagine that the portafilter will (a) get very hot from such a quick empty shot and (b) stay hot enough throughout the process of loading it with coffee to make any meaningful difference. What am I missing here?

    • @bobfish9617
      @bobfish9617 Před 2 lety +1

      Standard Operating Procedure for any coffee extraction method including espresso is to preheat both the brew chamber and the vessel/cup. This creates thermal stability during the brewing/extraction process. Is it meaningful? Maybe not, but every small tweak that can be made to ensure a consistent and quality extraction is always a worthwhile endeavor. Next time you go to a coffee shop you may make notice that they preheat the portafilter, unless they are going back to back with shot, but even then to give it a rinse. When the portafilter is not preheated, it will drop or steal the temperature from the incoming water, and reduce the extraction quality. Thanks for asking.

      Nothing this is an amateur level video. Their using a encore as grinder and they pulled 40 something grams under 30 secs. It’s likely a bit under extracted.

    I keep on getting less yield on my double (on a pressurised basket). it stops extracting at around 18-20 secs. Could it be that my beans are too coarse?

    After I watch your video, would you please answer me a question ? I can buy a tradition filter basket from amazon and put in the portafilter comes with the breville bambino plus? I don't need to buy a new portafilter , isn't it.
    Thank you so much

    I thought the double should pull 2 ounces? No matter what I do I can’t can’t 2 ounces out, I’m still getting 1-1.5 ounces. I’m afraid if I grind any courser . Any finer and I’m back to only getting an ounce out. I’m using the breville grinder so this has been crazy trying to figure out

    • @ChrisOHare
      @ChrisOHare Před 2 lety

      Have you checked what the breville is passing through on it's own, without any coffee? Given that you lose some water to the puck, you may find the 2 cup setting is only pushing through 2 oz of water which leaves less for your drinkable coffee. You may need to adjust the volume of the output.
      Search for "Adjusting the shot volume of your espresso machine Bambino Plus" as there are a few videos showing how to do it.

      @@JohnJackLog try from 9.6 to 10 grams of coffee on the small puck and try to use arabica, don't forget to pre-heat the puck with at least two shots of water from the machine. I get splendid expresso shots from mine, it's just a matter of practice but you'll get there. On the big puck (double shot) it's around 17-18 grams but I don't like very strong coffee so I don't usually use it. Also...the amount may have small variations depending if you grind your own coffee or if you use pre-ground coffee and that will depend on the brand, so it's a matter of trial and error but the amount doesn't vary that much.

      @@JohnJackLog what grinder are you using? Are you using the pressurized or non pressurized basket?

  • @anonymousanonymous7304

    Thanks for doing this! I just bought one. The portafilter is very difficult to use. The machine is so light you practically have to pick the whole thing up to get the portafilter on/off. I don't like it. Awkward. Plus it's a very messy machine. Coffee grounds all over the place. Constant cleanup. Drip tray is a mess. 16-17 gm is full to the top of dual wall so it leaves some grounds in the header. I had Starbucks grind it for espresso right before I tried it. It came out about right on first try. I'm not sure it's right, but it seems to be the right timing. The puck is hard. The frother works nicely. It's faster and quieter than I expected. Mine has a loud pop that I'm not sure is supposed to be there. It's not a well balanced machine. I didn't like the plastics inside of the portafilter and wonder where else my food touches plastics, pvc, plasticizers, or other toxic stuff that I can't see. Quite frankly I would like to take it back.

    • @kunalmishra9463
      @kunalmishra9463 Před rokem

      1) You can get yourself a much nicer portafilter off Amazon if you'd like. MATOW and Normcore are my recs for a bottomless and spouted portafilters
      2) Same thing with the basket -- the stock Breville ones don't feel quite deep enough -- an IMS double shot one comfortable holds 20g. A Crema coffee triple basket can probably comfortably hold 22-24g.
      3) Remember, you bought one of the most affordable espresso machines out there -- there should be room in the budget for aftermarket products like the one listed above. A grinder is probably a must if you're not using the pressurized filter as well
      4) It is on the lighter end, but things will loosen a bit over time and the feet will generate more suction to the countertop over time. Not to mention this is a function of its compactness and lack of horizontal width. For me, that was an important feature, and just leaving a hand on top of the Bambino (I've got the non-plus, so even thinner and lighter), is just fine for locking in

    • @ledemonblond
      @ledemonblond Před 10 měsíci

      As they indicated at the start of the video, the grinder is more important than the machine itself, invest in a quaity grinder instead of having Starbucks doing it for you
