You can pick up kits for this online or in a store near you, and you should make it a habit to use them when working on electrical. You can write your cell number on the tag so someone can call you if theres an issue Stay safe!
most likely capacitor blew and it was running on potential relay and start capacitor,pulling high amps and overheated.i would recommend contactor ,start cap, potential relay and add disconnect my 2 cents,thanks for sharing.

Don’t you have a breaker lock? Code in Alberta Canada is there should be a disconnect at the equipment, if not, sometimes on older buildings we have to put a lock and tag on the breaker. Removing someone else’s lock equals go to Jail. Stay safe buddy.

@IceMachine411 if u don't have breaker lock try red tape or put a note whatever works to keep u safe.
