About Shazam:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson's (Asher Angel) case, by shouting out one word-SHAZAM!-this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard (Djimon Hounsou). I love that instead of cynically dismissing the existence of people who are pure of heart like his New 52 version, Billy simply denies that he could be worthy in a completely sincere tone
EDIT: And unlike the previous candidates who immediately believed themselves worthy, Billy instead thinks that there are better options than him
They basically took Geoff Johns take on it, and made it a bit more wholesome
Humility is something we can all learn
That's because the other candidates were too easily tempted by power by the Seven Deadly Sins.

This was the best scene in the whole movie. For me, they went really to fast with the whole Shazam Family. I would have like to see a proper one on one face off against Black Adam, especially the way the wizard talk about his mistake.
in all honesty it works in the comics cause black Adam really did abuse his power he became king of his land but thats not the case in the new movie universe
I think the old wizard was referring to black adam when he said "long ago, we choose a champion but we choose recklessly, he used his power for revenge"
in the Black Adam movie Adam was not chosen by the council his son was, his son passed the powers to him to save him

I just now realized that the wizard chose Billy out of instinct, it feels like he chose people based on if they could hear the seven deadly sins but now that the sins are gone, he had to make the decision based on a hunch
Of course I could be mistaken so you should take my theory with a grain of salt and just as food for thought
But Billy proved himself worthy, when he resisted the Eye of Sin at the end
The sins themselves may have been affecting the wizard's judgement of who was worthy, and when Sivana took them away he was finally able to pick someone. So really once again the villain has a hand in creating the hero.

True Dat. In the 1980s Billy got his powers from the Greek gods including Zues directly. Now you have to put your hand on a wizards staff while he screams say my name until lightning erupts everywhere . 😱

What happened was black adam didn't physically release the sins but his anger sort of released wrath who them freed the other monsters, thats why we dont see them in the film
After watching Black Adam, I can see where the writers crossed out BA and wrote in Sivana. It's also easy to how Black Adam factored into the story originally.
