Honestly the villains had so many chances to develop nicely and perfectly but in the end, the opening dominated :)

That was before depowered...if you watch that scene once more when they touch the staff they will regain their powers back....in the first movie Billy break the staff that causes the Destruction of the barrier which would have keep the gods far away from earth but now the barrier has broken so now the gods can enter to earth....

The most unrealistic in this film is that how they allow persons with full armor entering the museum.
Probably they killed the guards since they're gods
I feel like the plot of this movie would have been a better fit for the wonder woman sequel.
They could have kept the tie with the wizard staff bit have the story surround wonder woman

How explain? Don’t just act like you know.
This opening doesn’t really work for me. I will say it does do a good job at establishing our villains, it shows them causing havoc and killing people, which is a bit cliche in showing how evil a villain is, but not inherently a bad way to write the scene. You see I’d be fine with this if it didn’t follow up with a comedic scene, we go from evil elderly people stealing a museum artefact and leaving behind new museum artefacts by turning everyone into museum artefacts, which is surprisingly darker than it sounds. We go from that to Shazam in a therapy session, these jarring tonal changes aren’t earned here and it really puts me off.
Also doesn’t help that every single person in this scene is an idiot, the guy who begs for his life could’ve probably prevented everyone from being turned to stone had he just stayed out of their way, but no he had to open his big mouth. Then every guard in this scene conveniently fails at their job, they try to one up these goddess ladies when they’ve clearly demonstrated that they ain’t messing around, also shouldn’t they be getting people to safety, there are people running around like crazy people let’s just get the few we can salvage to safety.
This scene is goofy and not intentionally so, and over all I don’t think it worked all that well.

@@CabezasDePescado i wouldn’t say that, it’s definitely the case for this movie, but I think the first movie did really well, the heart is definitely there and you do feel for billy. Obviously because he didn’t have a mum he need to find his own family, his chosen family if you prefer, and his new powers are what bring him and Freddy closer together and that bond between the two is present throughout the film. I also think that billy and Shazam are balanced pretty well, Shazam has to learn how to be a superhero, and billy has to learn how to be a better person and a brother, it’s a nice parallel to two characters who are the same person but are very different in most respects.
