English media need to stop trying to be the moral police when it comes to football. Didn't a fan once attack Jack Grealish on the pitch? And didn't that happen again just over a month ago when a Forest player was attacked whilst celebrating a goal? Didn't another English club fan try to punch a player on the sideline whilst holding his child in one arm during a Europa league tie?
The same media calling for Atletico's head still celebrate the so called Battle of Bridge game between Spurs and Chelsea. Talk about hypocrisy
There is a difference between what fans does and players and coaches.
@@basquat76 you are right mate. Fans attacking players is completely acceptable behaviour
@@JR-sj1jz But it's not the same. We're talking about players behavior not fans.

Foootball needs a few teams like Atletico. Best feeling in the world beating a dirty team. Also true champions need to be able to beat all sorts.
Yeah showed a new side to city very entertaining 0-0
The referee caused all of that by not asserting himself and allowing it to happen, I’m a referee and that first challenge on foden was what we call “an easy yellow” perfect for the ref early in a big game , he didn’t give it and the rest followed as the whole refereeing team was fully out of control including VAR , city keep doing this to teams tho , PSG also all lost their heads
That not being a yellow is almost hard to believe. Crazy.
Foden Challenge was direct Redcard
Foden fckn divided, used to cheap fouls given in England with English players winning gold in swimming 🏊♀️ diving competitions am sure Sterling was next he feared for his height
The scenes happen in football, espeically when you dont have a strong ref in charge of it, its just hilarious that Athletico players completely lost their minds over the tactics that City employed that mirror their own
glad you said it mate ....i told people i was watching the game with its a tactical move by pep to frustrate Atletico Madrid by defending the last quarter of the tie and they said its because atleti was supirior so i gave up. But its true what Jordan's saying Atletico couldn't compete.
Exactly. Atletico is a referee-dependent team. They can only play their football cuz the ref is lenient towards them based on their bad rep. If city commited the fouls atletico did then the ref wouldn't have waited till the 90th minute to show a red card. Not to mention that the cards for the brawl at the end were all yellow and for both sets of players, as though city started and kept it going... There is no punishment that can retroactively fix this issue, there is only one in-game solution. For the next couple of seasons the referees should apply the rule of law to the letter in atletico madrid games. To the letter! That means if felipe makes an intervention that warrants a yellow card in minute 1 then he gets the yellow. If he does another one in minute 2 then he gets the red card. End of story. And so it should go for every player of both teams. Apply the rulebook to the letter. After the first couple of matches or seasons there will be some fights because of this, but eventually atletico will have to adapt or be left in the dust. And if they don't adapt even then then simeone is a bigger fool than i ever thought and he'll be fired soon enough and the problem might fix itself with the next coach.
This exactly the ref lost control of the game and there is no coming back from that
They REALLY did not enjoy getting a dose of their own medicine.
The Ref by the way was FANTASTIC. He should be in charge of the final and I'm not being sarcastic.
Well brought up St Dave...when Simeone and some of his players were accusing Manchester City of time wasting and gamesmanship last night, the irony of it all was embarrassing for Atletico.
Wasn’t as bad as everyone is going on .. I quite enjoyed it in a funny Old School way .. Have it 👊👊
Asking for Atletico to be removed from Champions League next year if they make it is absolutely ludicrous. Jim White smoking on that super pack!
Arrogance, nothing else
Their logic to rule out a consistently top 10 UEFA ranking club out of the CL just because of their tactics is just pathetic and desperate.

@@firminorules isn’t that what Fernandinho is famous for? on sky sports they literally give him credit for all his ‘clever’ fouls, I think you’re a fool for pretending to know the intentions of the Atleti players, they’re kicking off about Savic anyways and all he did was pick up Foden who was trying to time waste and pull Grealish hair, neither of which are career enders in my book. I’ve seen thousands of worse fouls in the Prem it’s just an agenda the media have against them and apparently you’ve fallen for it
City, could put up with Foden being dragged off the pitch, and Sterling being headbutted. Man handling Grealish's mane, however, overstepped the mark...not the hair, bro!
To call it disgrace and a stain is overreacting a lot. A few madrid players lost their heads like PSG did last year. Just punish them someway and a big fine to the players involved. I am from Spain, living in England, and all this criticism on Atletico is extremely biased seeing it only from the English side.
If you want to criticise Atletico so much you should first watch a good number of their matches and not only a the few big UCL games against English clubs. If you did you would realise Atletico plays great football and they are absolutely not a dark arts team. They do have a high-pressure style which makes them very competitive. Also their fans are great, probably among the best in the world. True, some of them are nuts, but I have seen crazy fans in every big club.
About Savic. I did not like what he did. Specially because it was plain stupid. Just let the referee deal with Foden trying to waste time by rolling back onto the pitch. Savic wasted much more time with his thoughtless agressive action. Stupid. It destroyed Atletico's momentum. You could even say it was disgraceful. However, one player's actions does not define a club.
I have to say I have come to like Atletico's attitude over the years, and this last game has turned me into an Atletico fan.
Glad to see another Atleti fan. Everything you mentioned in your comment was on point
Simon Jordan is just quality , really like listening to him
Funny how immense the contrast is between English media and Spanish media discussions of that match
What was the Spanish reaction to the game?
All the fighting aside, what I found baffling yesterday was the response from the Atlético crowd to every movement made by Simeone from the last 15 minutes right through to after the final whistle. The atmosphere through the TV was electric, can’t imagine what it must’ve been like in the stadium. It was surreal scenes, like one of the ceremonies/rallies in North Korea when all the citizens just mindlessly bellow and roar ‘in support of their supreme leader’.
What a stupid and rude comparison... Let me compare, for example, the singing of YNWA with the same North Koreans singing their national anthem to their supreme leader. Do you understand now how stupid and biased your comparison was..? I bet you would pay good money to attend your team’s match in a stadium and atmosphere like the on Vanda Metropolitano the other night.
Just watched the tunnel “fight” and if that’s a fight then we saw murder on the pitch.
Apparently it was instigated by walker who shoved an Atleti physio.
If more teams had Athletico’s passion City wouldn’t be running away with the title every year. Granted they went too far last night but teams roll over before a ball is ever kicked against City. The banning talk is the typical anti Spanish sentiment running through all British football media.
You're 100% right Patrick. I'm shocked how anti Atl Madrid Jim is being here. Madrid had a mountain to climb playing Oil Town and played with grit passion whilst walking fine line. Once a team gets physical with city they struggle. Even when they win things I always feel Atlético have a chip on their shoulders about their neighbours. Now it may well be a valid feeling because the media in Spain are obsessed about Real regardless of what Atlético do. But the way you win the general public and media around is by playing football they praise not by descending into gamesmanship and negativity which just gives the media another opportunity to praise Real.
would you rather finish 6th playing like Pep or win the league playing like Simeone? not everyone has the luxury of buying the league, they’re still technically a selling club and their team is worth half of City’s, for all Peps great football they didn’t even have a shot on target second leg and were outplayed especially second half

It's their style of play, it's what got them that far, it's what won them La Liga titles. Europa League and Super Cup titles and got them to Champions League finals. They're not gonna change because others complain.
Simon is my favourite person on Talk Sport.
I didn't see the game but this puts me in mind of Colombia at World Cup 2018.
The reason Atletico played as they did especially in the first leg is the fact that there is no incentive for an away team to score in the first leg anymore, especially if they can get away with a 0-0 or 1-0. That is what the away goal rule was introduced for, to avoid teams setting up with 10 behind the ball. Also how has no one mentioned the fact that Foden, rolling round off the pitch, then strategically rolled himself back onto the pitch to try and waste time, that is what Savic took exception to. Funny how Foden rolling round “hurt”, was suddenly fine and able to take the throw in when play resumed.

Yes!
Don't know why everyone is bitter. But, I do respect Atletico Madrid. Simeone did a marvelous job there, winnig trophies both in Europe and spain against all the odds. Everyone here knows they have world-class players in their team but they play like they play because the coach wants them to play like that, it's their identity and you never hear one of their players complain, on the contrary they give it their all. English people need to relax a bit, it's not like every english team is playing good football or "tiki-taka" which they don't even know what it means they think any possession based play style is called tiki-taka which is not. Graham used to play a defensive type of football and he is hailed by the arsenal fans because it worked and he won titles. Man utd fans complain because their team don't show grit and fight in games like they used to but when atleti do it, it's anti-football. If I remember correctly, Atletico has more european pedigree than man city. There isn't one way to play football. English fans need to relax, i've seen atletico play like this since Simeone came in, but I never complained, we had games where we dominante the possession, have 20 shots and score none...but, we never complain because we know who we're up against. And any crying on social media isn't going to make them change, we just have to roll with it. So, chill. Just because you saw good football for like five years doesn't mean you have to attack anyone who play any style they see fit.
I dont agree all the time with Simon but he's pretty much spot on and I'm a life long City fan , just to add tho , the managing the game by the ref was poor , he could of implemented stricter controls.

Atletico did what they did. It has cost them. Why the huge hoo ha ? All the stuff they did is something lots of sides have done.
City went through and justice is done.
i personally cant recall another professional football team behaving like that. it was a disgrace.
@@mancityscot Juventus. The one with Vidal, Pirlo in midfield. You know what; you guys need to stop complaining okay. The last 10mins wasn't good. It happens sometimes but not all the time. It's not like Epl is so holy by the way. I hate all the hypocrisy. You using 10mins of madness to judge the history of a whole team. A team tht is even more successful than most Epl team and English teams
Why the huge hoo ha? Because it sells papers, gets people engaged with talksport... generates clicks etc...
Wow!!! English media.
"kick them out" really .... shame on you Jim
As a City fan I don't want Atletico to get "thrown out" of any tournament. But something has to change. What are the points of having all these rules and slogans about fair play and sportsmanship etc if they continue to spit in the face (literally) of all these rules. Slowly but surely Simeone has facilitated this thuggish attitude within his team and UEFA need to say enough is enough or threaten them with a suspension. Opposition Teams should be preparing to beat Atletico on the pitch rather than having to think about how best to keep their heads on and not risk getting red cards because that's what 75% of Atletico's strategy is going into big games.
It is simple. The referees do not punish atletico cuz that would "ruin the match". If city or any other team commited the same fouls as atletico they'd get yellows and reds all over. Last night though the teams got 5 yellow cards each. The solution is simple. When atletico plays referees have to apply the laws of the game 100% without leniency. That will mean that felipe would be sent off inside 30 minutes. Do this always when atletico plays games and decide to break the rules and eventually they will either become perennial losers or they will adapt and play football for once. If they don't adapt then simeone will be fired and the next coach might fix the issues.
South American football mentality has always been like this.
When did history start and finish?
We've also ruined your women check them out and 😂
fair play is to not have a corrupt middle eastern state sponsor a football team, what savic did to grealish is nothing compared to that.
Better the more honest, out and out aggression type of game than a team like Liverpool relying upon diving and VAR favoritism for results.
nail em up i say NAAAAIIIILLLLL EM UP
Bro, these sort of pundits didn't see nothing then lol. I remember when they had Godin and Gabi and Luis and Juanfran back in 2013 to 2015. That was peak defensive football when we played them we couldn't get a shot on target, but that what made the win after so sweet because it was tough and earned not given. But, you never heard one of our fans criticise them or moan about it or being happy they didn't make or qualify. True, we didn't want the get them in a knock-out stage tie because it will be hard as nails. But, it's just who they are and you have to find a way to live with that.
I'm not a City fan but I'm glad they got through because AM's manager is the dirtiest player n manager in the history of World football.
Where was all this backlash against Atletico Madrid. When Liverpool beat them twice in group stage, while Atletico Madrid was playing their dark arts against us. This wasn't new don't understand, why people are shocked by Atletico Madrid action.
Happens every single year. They act shocked when they see Atleti play lol. They play like this every single game. The La Liga game prior they lost 0-1 to 18th place Mallorca
Football is a contact sport! Simeone was hard as nails and his team plays exactly the same way. If every team played the same it would be extremely dull. I thought Man City showed tremendous professionalism playing against the dark arts. He's won 2 La Liga titles and got to 2 Champions League finals 👏 can't argue with that 👍
when did everyone start referring to defending as dark arts? this is why there’s next to no world class defenders in the game these days
@@diskid3644 facts my guy. Defenders sacrifice actual defending to be ball players. Time and time again when ball players do not have control over the game. They are exposed. City dominated. Majority of the 2 legs but yesterday at one point their defense was on the ropes.
If Forden was so badly injured how did he manage to roll onto the pitch .......please explain im confused
He was faking it 🤣🤣
Couldn't compete? WHAT??? They played City out of the park entirely for that 2nd half... it was a miracle City didn't concede.
What athletico clear cut chance was there?
@@tristanramsaroop9776 are for you real? They didn't manage to shoot on target but had at least 3 clear cut chances. At least. Then they lost their plot and their momentum, but were by far the better team in that 2nd half where they totally suffocated City.
Wow, they played better for 1 half out of 4😂bye athletico👋
I thought it was highly entertaining. Best 0-0 I’ve ever seen. 🤣
I would rather see aggressive tactics then I would diving and rolling around like fairies. I think teams that constantly allow their players to dive should get chucked out and are a STAIN ON THE GAME
Athletico Madrid are the Millwall team in Europe. They play with passion, togetherness and certainly play for their Manager,And as for their fans you have to make it a hostel environment.
When your up against a technical team like City you have to play with passion and fight. I can't see a problem at all with that . ENOUGH SAID. COYL
He’s asking for proof of Atletico doing this regularly. Just look at this seasons group stage, Huge brawl against Porto, Simeone disregarding a shakehand with Klopp, Time wasting at Old Trafford.
Simeone knows exactly what they are doing there at Atletico. In each big game he selects a player from the opposition he thinks could be broken down or be sent off using their tactics. It was Foden this game, I’m not even a city fan but boy he went through a lot in that game.
Athletico are a decent footballing team that can mix it up if needs be, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Didn't Chelsea under Mourinho used to be the exact same, waving imaginary cards, surrounding the refs for red cards, diving and being hard in the tackle.
If u think Atletico Madrid's behaviour yesterday is absolutely nothing wrong, you are beyond saving mate. What kind of team collected 5 red cards from group stage to quarter final. There was no red card issued during any match in group B other than the match with AM. And its not only UCL. Their league record even worse, probably 10 red cards. Is this sounds normal to you?
Not saying surrounding the ref waving imaginary cards never happened under Mourinho but Chelsea were never as bad as Ferguson's man utd or Wenger's arsenal
@@Blues-tf1uc well exactly, most clubs play act and try to get players sent off. I'm watched it for 30 years. To say Atheltico are a dirty team is harsh
Why do you keep saying THAT ucl match in your titles as if it were some iconic or infamous match? it was literally just a bit of aggro at the end. media only in a frenzy because precious English darlings foden and grealish were at the recieving end of it
