    English media need to stop trying to be the moral police when it comes to football. Didn't a fan once attack Jack Grealish on the pitch? And didn't that happen again just over a month ago when a Forest player was attacked whilst celebrating a goal? Didn't another English club fan try to punch a player on the sideline whilst holding his child in one arm during a Europa league tie?
    The same media calling for Atletico's head still celebrate the so called Battle of Bridge game between Spurs and Chelsea. Talk about hypocrisy

      glad you said it mate ....i told people i was watching the game with its a tactical move by pep to frustrate Atletico Madrid by defending the last quarter of the tie and they said its because atleti was supirior so i gave up. But its true what Jordan's saying Atletico couldn't compete.

    • @ThatGuy-tx4vm
      @ThatGuy-tx4vm Před 2 lety +5

      Exactly. Atletico is a referee-dependent team. They can only play their football cuz the ref is lenient towards them based on their bad rep. If city commited the fouls atletico did then the ref wouldn't have waited till the 90th minute to show a red card. Not to mention that the cards for the brawl at the end were all yellow and for both sets of players, as though city started and kept it going... There is no punishment that can retroactively fix this issue, there is only one in-game solution. For the next couple of seasons the referees should apply the rule of law to the letter in atletico madrid games. To the letter! That means if felipe makes an intervention that warrants a yellow card in minute 1 then he gets the yellow. If he does another one in minute 2 then he gets the red card. End of story. And so it should go for every player of both teams. Apply the rulebook to the letter. After the first couple of matches or seasons there will be some fights because of this, but eventually atletico will have to adapt or be left in the dust. And if they don't adapt even then then simeone is a bigger fool than i ever thought and he'll be fired soon enough and the problem might fix itself with the next coach.

    I am from Spain, living in England, and all this criticism on Atletico is extremely biased seeing it only from the English side.
    If you want to criticise Atletico so much you should first watch a good number of their matches and not only a the few big UCL games against English clubs. If you did you would realise Atletico plays great football and they are absolutely not a dark arts team. They do have a high-pressure style which makes them very competitive. Also their fans are great, probably among the best in the world. True, some of them are nuts, but I have seen crazy fans in every big club.
    About Savic. I did not like what he did. Specially because it was plain stupid. Just let the referee deal with Foden trying to waste time by rolling back onto the pitch. Savic wasted much more time with his thoughtless agressive action. Stupid. It destroyed Atletico's momentum. You could even say it was disgraceful. However, one player's actions does not define a club.

The atmosphere through the TV was electric, can’t imagine what it must’ve been like in the stadium. That is what the away goal rule was introduced for, to avoid teams setting up with 10 behind the ball. Also how has no one mentioned the fact that Foden, rolling round off the pitch, then strategically rolled himself back onto the pitch to try and waste time, that is what Savic took exception to. Funny how Foden rolling round “hurt”, was suddenly fine and able to take the throw in when play resumed.

    Don't know why everyone is bitter. But, I do respect Atletico Madrid. Simeone did a marvelous job there, winnig trophies both in Europe and spain against all the odds. Everyone here knows they have world-class players in their team but they play like they play because the coach wants them to play like that, it's their identity and you never hear one of their players complain, on the contrary they give it their all. English people need to relax a bit, it's not like every english team is playing good football or "tiki-taka" which they don't even know what it means they think any possession based play style is called tiki-taka which is not. Graham used to play a defensive type of football and he is hailed by the arsenal fans because it worked and he won titles. Man utd fans complain because their team don't show grit and fight in games like they used to but when atleti do it, it's anti-football. If I remember correctly, Atletico has more european pedigree than man city. There isn't one way to play football. English fans need to relax, i've seen atletico play like this since Simeone came in, but I never complained, we had games where we dominante the possession, have 20 shots and score none...but, we never complain because we know who we're up against. And any crying on social media isn't going to make them change, we just have to roll with it. So, chill. Just because you saw good football for like five years doesn't mean you have to attack anyone who play any style they see fit.

    As a City fan I don't want Atletico to get "thrown out" of any tournament. But something has to change. What are the points of having all these rules and slogans about fair play and sportsmanship etc if they continue to spit in the face (literally) of all these rules. Slowly but surely Simeone has facilitated this thuggish attitude within his team and UEFA need to say enough is enough or threaten them with a suspension. Opposition Teams should be preparing to beat Atletico on the pitch rather than having to think about how best to keep their heads on and not risk getting red cards because that's what 75% of Atletico's strategy is going into big games.

      It is simple. The referees do not punish atletico cuz that would "ruin the match". If city or any other team commited the same fouls as atletico they'd get yellows and reds all over. Last night though the teams got 5 yellow cards each. The solution is simple. When atletico plays referees have to apply the laws of the game 100% without leniency. That will mean that felipe would be sent off inside 30 minutes. Do this always when atletico plays games and decide to break the rules and eventually they will either become perennial losers or they will adapt and play football for once. If they don't adapt then simeone will be fired and the next coach might fix the issues.

    Bro, these sort of pundits didn't see nothing then lol. I remember when they had Godin and Gabi and Luis and Juanfran back in 2013 to 2015. That was peak defensive football when we played them we couldn't get a shot on target, but that what made the win after so sweet because it was tough and earned not given. But, you never heard one of our fans criticise them or moan about it or being happy they didn't make or qualify. True, we didn't want the get them in a knock-out stage tie because it will be hard as nails. But, it's just who they are and you have to find a way to live with that.

    He’s asking for proof of Atletico doing this regularly. Just look at this seasons group stage, Huge brawl against Porto, Simeone disregarding a shakehand with Klopp, Time wasting at Old Trafford.
    Simeone knows exactly what they are doing there at Atletico. In each big game he selects a player from the opposition he thinks could be broken down or be sent off using their tactics. It was Foden this game, I’m not even a city fan but boy he went through a lot in that game.

    Athletico are a decent footballing team that can mix it up if needs be, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Didn't Chelsea under Mourinho used to be the exact same, waving imaginary cards, surrounding the refs for red cards, diving and being hard in the tackle.
