This is a great song let's come out whenever I was in high school back in 72 and 73 it just brings back such good memories I'll never forget the song❤
Hi Pam, are you in Cleveland?
Talk about a great radio voice: This guy has it.
It's so refreshing to hear music like this.
I was fortunate to meet Jay several times when he came into my store "the Mail Room" on Airport Road in Allentown several years ago. He is a very nice gentleman!
O wow I like this song
Love this stereo version....🎼♥️🇬🇧♥️🎼
What a wonderful hit song this was it is marvelous and is the best song this group ever had !!!!!!
Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie probably their best imo, but this was great too! Born in 1957, grew up with the best music ever recorded!!!
😎😎
I love this tune. It brings back some wonderful memories.
Oh what a time it was.
@@danielrocque327. I bought this record at the Marine Corps PX at Parris Island in 1967. At the time I was stationed aboard the USS Saratoga Marine Detachment. And you are right. Oh what a time it was. And where did all go.
November 29 2022. I just turned 62 and still listening. The WLS jingle puts it all in perspective.
I was only 10 when this song first came out. I still love this song 51 years later.
Wow, we are the same age Nan. And we love this tune. I was born in '59. Same for you?
@@stevenchavez2886 Nan said she was 10 when this song was out - in 1967 - she was born in 1957, not 1959.
@@theheff66 wow...2 years ....nothing like a armchair perfectionist
The only song I hear now is "Keep The Covid Rolling"
I was also born 1959. Maybe we should all open a bar and play the music we love. I'm sure the place would be packed 7 days a week.
Who remembers a great song titled, tighten up???!! Archie bell and the drells I believe. Cute song to sing AND dance to. God, I'm so old now 63 in November!
Oh please, you're not old. A great man that became a hero of mine, although I never met him passed away in December 2015 at age 114 and he was on ZERO medications and looked 30yrs younger. Bernando Lapallo on CZcams.
Dear I remember it well I will be 63 this april
@Marilyn Catalano. Yes, it was Archie Bell & The Drells, and it was their first hit "Tighten Up" in March 1968. It pk'd at no.1 for 2wks on the Hot 100 Chart during last 2 weeks of May 1968.
I'm 61. You're not old.
@@jayfredrickson8632 I'm 70 and very attractive to girls a third my age. No brag, just fact.
Wow, hearing that song brings me back to Fall 1967, when i was in 8th grade.
I knew a Linda Sanfilippo from way back.
Man I was 10 when this came out , had the 45
Takes me back to all night skates💕
I was born and raised in Allentown,Pa., and used to dance to this song at the 9y and The Hub,at the local YM,YWCA,on 15th st. What great memories. Thank you mike.
I always love your choice of music. Good to have you back!!
I was 8 when this song came out and instantly loved it. It made me feel like dancing. It was like the turning point of a whole new sound of music. No matter what the genre, every song on the radio was way better than the first half of the 60's. In my eyes, the Beatles and Motown was out. Music was getting exciting! No matter what genre, I loved it all! But in the last 10 years, most of the songs just don't get me excited. There are some really good song writers, but some of these new artists just don't excite me. They all seem to sing the same type of music. And this auto-tune just doesn't separate the men from the boys, if you know what I mean. Back in the day, I could say I love The Stones, Chicago, Tom Jones, Queen, Frankie Valli, The Bee Gees. Now mostly everyone sings the same type of songs. Not that I don't like the songs, but what ever happened to that large box of chocolates? Let me hear your opinion.
Remember this song from the fall of 67. These guys sounded great. Heard it often on CKLW from the "Motor City"
Jerry Ross also produced Bobby Hebb's iconic and amazing song, "Sunny." Oh, yeah, and "Sunny" was also the song Alex Chilton sang at a high school talent show before he became a legend with the Box Tops.
Love the Boxtops, and some of the groups Jerry produced. Didn't know he was involved with the group "Shocking Blue". This song however doesn't do much for me. I've never heard it played on any oldies station or any radio station, going back to the mid sixties. Air play was probably limited to the North East US.
Jay and the Techiques were the half time entertainment at the Astrodome game between UCLA and Houston
Oh to be young again.
So hip 👍
I Love this song. Jay and his group, came and performed at my old High School.
My favorite era of pop music
In the 60s we were hanging in the playground. The best time of life . I miss all my friends back then.
Great song from 1967.......
MUSIC MIKE IS GREAT!!!!
Thanks Elizabeth !
thanks Mike
Love golden oldies and that dude is great
the best
Awesome presentation Music Mike. I never heard of Jerry Ross.
Thank you so much for educating us about the greatest music of all time.
I found a Jay and the Techniques album in a little record outlet upstairs in Soho, London OH so many years ago and it woke me up to this fantastic group. Love 'em!
Part of the greatest years of rock music 1966 through 1969 !!!!!
have the address? ❤🇬🇧❤
@@michelletaylor5691 I do believe it was Reckless Records, 30 Berwick St, Soho. It's still open!
@@andrewthornhill7042 lovely, will be in London , early September to visit relatives. Thank you so much ❤️🇬🇧❤️
@@michelletaylor5691 I hope it has everything you're looking for. Enjoy your time in London; I did!
Great forgotten oldie, and it's nice to have you back too, Music Mike!
Good song way back during good times.
Almost forgot this little gem. Thanks for uploading! Great memories.
jsbach15
I'm going out for this.
Lead singer Jay Proctor prefers this over his slightly bigger debut hit, "Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie." I agree with him!
Going back to the Allentown Pennsylvania days where Billy Joel sang Allentown
This is great music! Like many other songs in that period. Thank`s music Mike! In 60`s and 70s people just knew how to make good music.
had this song on a 45 great song back in the day dan s
WOW great song! Haven't heard it in so many yrs! I actually thought it was midnight confessions by the grass roots, when it first started
Another great selection by the great MusicMike
One of the most exciting and powerful fadeout endings I've ever heard from any song!
I Love this song and Music Mike!
Cool...
Music Mike, thank you for all the great memories throughout the years. You are THE BEST!
Love it!!!!!!!
The video of the ending of this song has him dancing up a storm singing too
Great to have you back again, Mike. Living here in Virginia Beach, Bill Deal was a musical icon and put the Beach on the map in the days of beach music. The Rhondells continue on, as well.
Jeez, remember this one being played on KFXM59 out of San Bernardino back when I was 12 years of age...the ball of time is a-rollin'......
Great to see you back Mike. Great track and info on the classic band. Nice vinyl. Great way to start the new year.
it was a light and breezy melody to cruise along to ,and I did ! thank you Mike !!!

love this, I used to roller skate to this song back in the day.
I can remember seeing Jane a techniques at The acorn hotel in Allentown Pennsylvania they're fantastic
My high school coaches who were all WWII and Korean War vets used to tell us all the time to, "keep the ball rolling."
Good seeing & hearing from you in 2014 Music Mike! Thanks for keeping the hits and memories alive! You are appreciated!
great flashback saw most the groups he produced
Strange that I didn't like this song as a teenager when it was played as an oldie in the 70's, but I love it now.
that happened to me with a whole bunch of songs!!
It's called maturing!
October 1967 I just arrived at Fort Bragg, North Carolina for Army Basic Combat Training and this song was played constantly on the radio brings back some bad vibes...
Thanks Music Mike
Thanks Mike
Great song, love it.
Great song!!!!!
thanks for the real memories !,:)
Jay and The Techniques sang the song Keep The Ball Rolling in the fall of 1967 follow up to Apples Peaches and Pumpkin Pie
Billy Joel sang Allentown in 1983 dedicated to the sixties group Jay And The Techniques
Flashbacks of all night skates!💕
You can dance to it brought me here. Glad it did. ✅😊🎶🎵🎶
i have this 45 with the flip side apples, peaches, pumpkin pie
Written by Randell/Linzer. Also wrote around this time Let's Hang On by 4 Seasons. You can hear alot of similarities in each song. Love this, Good Time music!
They also composed "A Lover's Concerto" for the Toys if memory serves me right. They were among the many outstanding songwriters who helped make the 1960's such a memorable decade musically.
Your voice is worth money man...
Randell & Linzer, writers of this great tune, also wrote at least a couple other great songs for the 4 Seasons ("Let's Hang On") and the Monkees ("I'll Be Back Up on My Feet").
Sang along with this hoarse!!!
Nice Post Mike!! Happy New Year!!
Mike, fall 67 had so many great songs, inocense went away that winter and anti every thing got tracton on wls and wcfl. I woke this am with this song as an ear worm. 53 years ago this fall kids turn to 18 year old young adult? baby boom, a point in development and time.
Was a college freshman in fall 1967, and remember one great tune after another on the radio. 67 may have been the best year of the rock and roll era; a great time.
I only know this song from an old aircheck. I was too young to remember it on the radio. Anyway. The intro to this song is so different from the record is. The beginning sounds like some Grass Roots record, then it kind of chirps along. I like it.....My observation
The intro does sound like the Grassroots. I thought so too
I listened to you broadcast from WLS.What a great station.WLS I could only get on really clear nights.WABC and WLS.WOW.Thanks for many years of terrific music.
Mike there is a great place to eat in Grove City on 62 called Memories. Name the day and I’ll meet you for lunch. Michael Hardin.
Had the 45 - way back then
Jay Proctor happens to be the lead singer of Jay And The Techniques
DUDE. YOU ROCK. YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO FIX MY RECORD ROOM LIKE THAT
Awesome. It's worth doing.
Much better than apple peaches pumpkin pie 🥧
AM radio 📻
Dude got pipes!
WLS! RIP Larry Lujack.
Judging from the background I assume those clips were from "The Ed Sullivan show "
Allentown, Penn where my family originated/ we moved away to Long zisland
Takes me back to the NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL gym where the pom pom girls performed to this song complete with basketballs in hand.
Danced to this at the Community Gardens/ QUEENS VILLAGE N.Y. in 1967
2021, I've never heard this song ever. Never heard it played on any oldies station.
I was searching for a song called "Shotgun" maybe by the same group? Can't say "Keep the Ball Rollin" is a great song. It's very teeny bopperish to me.
Shotgun is by Jr. Walker & The All Stars
@@MusicMikeFlashbackFavorites Thanks Mike. Mike, here's a couple of really great songs that you can pull up on youtube from the mid sixties that should have made it national, but unfortunately only got airplay in the midwest.
1. The Harlem Shuffle by the fabulous flippers (was on Cameo Records)
2. Jezebel by the Rumbles Same song was done by Herman's Hermits, but you might like the Rumbles version better
3. Save That Planet by Edgar Winter and the White Trash, live at the Apollo. Only the live version is the one I refer to. There were a couple of studio versions that didn't come close to the live version. You have to hear the very end of this song, maybe the best R%R singing duo on record? The entire live album is great, but only the audio is available on youtube videos. Rick Deringer is playing guitar on this.
I had no idea that Jerry Ross produced this one. It sound more like Linzer-Randall thing.. Regardless of who produced it, I like this song better than "Apples, Peach, Pumpkin Pie".
WOW,-!,-.JUST,-KEEP,-AN,-EYE,-ON,-THOSE,S,-OUTFITS,-!,-?
Smash records also had Jerry Lee/ James Brown and Roger Miller to name a few...
Loved WLS in Chicago: Larry Lujack, Dex Card and others were super!
If you don't like this song something is differently WRONG with you
WOW,-!,-?,-KEEP,-THE,-BALL,-ROLLIN,-!,-?
Music radio wls Chicago wow
these are soul brothers that jam Sam and Dave, Jay and the technics, James the ( God father ) of soul and Jerry Butler just to name a few but theirs more of them they jam as well love this classic gem of a tune just the same well peace everyone😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
Producer Jerry Ross used studio musicians in place of "The Techniques" band when the recording was made. Only singers Jay Procter and George "Lucky" Lloyd from the band were at the recording session.
Popular when I was in vietnam
Ahokes for kids and Grand kids
Listen to the Spanish version by Los Yaki from Mexico
Wow! Sounds like the best song the Grass Roots never recorded! Also, while it seems they're modulating a couple times toward the end of the song, they're only doing it leading into an instrumental passage. I think it would've made the song more gripping had they modulated directly into a chorus! But, that's just me (and Barry Manilow, king of the modulations.....say, were THEY ever a '60s group)?
