I met him after a concert in Michigan at a little UP casino in the 90’s. He was so down to earth and super cool. My friends and I ate with him and a couple of his band members.
Wow that must’ve been awesome! 🤩
I miss living in Michigan.
Love the smooth moves of the background dancers.
A gente dançávamos dê acordo com elas às dançarinas era tão mágico 😢😊😊
That would be the cocaine causing that smoothness.
Don't under estimate how he dominated the charts in the 70s and early 80s. Had masses of hits.

It was one of my favorites
Everyone laughing about how he looks like Ace Ventura, but he owned the late 70s and early 80s. Hit after hit after hit.'...lol
You got that right!! Im dancing around the house to his songs. My youngest son is like mom please because I'm all in in face trying to get him to dance with me😂 I love kc and the sunshine band. Sometimes I just gotta get down with my old self😂 ❤❤❤
He should be in Music Hall of Fame...like yesterday!!! He was Amazing!
He was competing with Donna Summer.
Couldn’t care if he was naked, I love this song

Those were fun times! If you were there, you know!
Was watching a dash cam video of an accident on CZcams and this was playing on the radio as the crash happened. Thanks for bringing me here. I was born a few years before this song came out - it felt like the other day!
I didn't realise at the time, just how good KC and the Sunshine Band was.
Good times.
Agree, I used to hate this type of music but with the coming of age i now really appreciate KC and realise how good these songs are.😀
Me too. There's alot of things from that time that I wish I would have savored more. I guess you don't know what you have till its gone. KC owned the 80s in this genre

they are not legendary. they are a one hit wonder. don't get his voice mixed up with lead singer of general public and fine young cannibals. they are different or dubbed like milli vanilli
@@davidkimmer not legendary I never meant legendary, just better than I thought at the time.
I love how he still applied the Miami sound that made him popular in the 1970s and incorporated that to the synth textures of the 1980s. Talk about adjusting to the times.
Yes you gotta respect it 100
Yes he did. I’m impressed that he was able to keep the same music style yet tweaked it slightly for the times.
Can you define "Miami sound"? I keep seeing that term, but I don't know what it means!
How can you NOT want to get up and DANCE. Perfect beat with good vocals! Love IT!
That's why I love his music so upbeat and i sure need that

Didn't know that😮 Quick recovery..and Cool Song❤
Yep, came to this video for just that reason. Just learned this & have mad respect for his determination 🙌🏼 The other driver hit him head on, took major recuperation. Keep on dancing Harry/KC 💕
What’s even crazier is he dances so well in the music video

He is definitely a HUGE star! I've always loved their music, but I really have to ask what has happened to make him gain so much weight? How much, close to 100lbs? It can't be healthy at his age. He needs to see someone about losing some of it.☮✌
We're not allowed to be that happy anymore, I hope you all enjoyed it while it lasted. The younger generations have no idea what I'm talking about.

Hey, Beth. I know you’re dancing in heaven! Always think of you when I hear him!!! ❤❤❤❤
Re: KC - In January 1981, he survived a serious car accident - another car hit his car head-on. He was left partially paralyzed for six months, and had to re-learn how to walk, dance, and play the piano, but by the end of the year he was back in the recording studio. "Give It Up", was released as a solo hit, shot to Number One in the UK (but his U.S. label, Epic, refused to release it).
true??
Holy smokes that’s absolutely true; BTW “Give it Up” was also a big smash hit in my homeland despite never achieving chart success in the USA 🇺🇸
And FYI by the time this song was released KC had already left the Sunshine Band to try his luck as a solo artist & released 2 solo albums: “The Hunter” & “Space Cadet”👩🎤 🌞 ☀️
That's true this song was popping off in Aus
WOW
Things we forget over the years. I vaguely remember hearing about his car accident and that he had to have a lot of rehab to function like he used to. Here's something no one remembers... I had a huge crush on him in the mid-late 70's. It must've been the pants, lol.

I grew up in this era. Listening to this makes me want to time travel in the era before virtual social media and smartphone. Plus, the artists of this era were passionate with their art, singing to the best of their ability.
it happened with all media industry bro. News, movies, videogames.... alll got destroyed by social politics.
Osama Anwar It’s more than just that. The Internet and digital technology made the entertainment industry more massive than it ever had been before and created a more fragmented consumer market than ever before. Before, you had to have record labels have the money to actually produce actual physical copies of records to sell during the analog days. Now they can make infinite copies of records to stream and to download and that ultimately creates way more competition for performers to sell their music and some resort to cheap publicity stunts like politics to get their foot in the door.
If only we could go back Rick I for one wouldn't come back to the present the world down the sewer 😢😢

Definitely should have No.1 on the charts back then. A true master piece!
I’m sorry but it could NEVER have been a number one hit back in 1982.
Disco was universally hated back then and KC and the Sunshine Band was definitely a disco band and that means that everyone “hated” them. That is why they were only able to make 18 on the Hot 100, and it was lucky to get that.
I was a fan and own this LP, and like you think it was a true masterpiece. But it was never going to get that kind of love from the mainstream audience.
I was in high school when this came out and in the early 90s I was a Pop DJ and got to meet and have a short chat with KC. I told him that “Give It Up” was my favorite song of his and he was appreciative.
@@josebrown5961The song was definitely a post disco song instead of a disco song, that was popular in the early 80s.

According to Wikipedia, Epic Records didn’t have confidence in this song, so KC formed his own company and released it himself. Maybe that’s the reason for the lackluster video. No matter; it’s a great song and probably introduced the M-TV generation to an artist they might never have heard of since his last hit was in 1980.
There is a real video for this song. Pretty cool too.
This is a Topic video. Every video is like this. I've seen four versions on CZcams. Topic, official video, a few with the song playing with different album covers showing, and some digital videos. P.S. Check out the ladies, they do the same routine on Topic and the official videos. ♡ T.E.N.

This isn't the official music video for the song, this is from a Dutch TV show called TopPop also it's not really lackluster it's kind of cool!
They didn’t have confidence in this song as a single because they thought KC & The Sunshine Band were basically has-beens and weren’t worth spending any more money on to promote their album after two previous singles that had completely flopped. But in Holland, where disco was still big, they did green-light a single release for it there, and then it slowly spread worldwide eventually back to America.
