Hey guys!
So I wasn't planning on covering the case of Lucy Letby this week. I had already started the research for another case & then on Monday the sentencing of Lucy Letby happened. I got an influx of messages, comments and emails asking me to cover the case. So I thought to myself "okay lets do this", this is a very important case to talk about, not only because Lucy is evil but this was preventable. There were so many failures that need to be talked about. How did a British nurse commit so many murders and become the worst child serial killer the UK has ever seen?

There were also other deaths that were obviously very suspicious. Several babies overfed milk and injected with air. That alone was extremely suspect.
Horrible that they waited so long to really start investigating and doing tests to look deeper into what was going on.
She probably pleaded not guilty so she could relive every murder/attempted murder throughout the trial. Seriously disturbing case, and completely devastating for those babies and their families. Heartbreaking beyond belief 💔

I find it baffling and scary how often she was seen hovering over a dying child and it still took them a long time to think it might be her... And even when it was spotted it was dismissed.
It's odd she was not doing things to help...ie sitting at a desk. Not her cats fault though...maybe they got lucky and rehomed...its odd she was a Christian. Jesus raised from dead...but didn't kill em first...

I think it's just because you don't expect someone you're working with to be doing something like that. Like I'm sure the healthcare professionals themselves were working really hard to help all of their patients and are used to seeing everyone else around them doing the same, so it is a jump to go from that to actively suspecting that an individual has heinous attempts
I've read a bit about this case. Her colleagues thought she had something to do with it. When a baby would have issues they would make an inside joke among eachother asking if Lucy was working on that shift. However, from what i understood, it was the hospital administration that forced the staff to not push this issue (probably saying they would fire who kept pushing the topic). Hospitals very rarely admit guilt because this (by their mindset) would allow all of the parents who we're affected by her, to take the hospital to court and ask for money or give them bad PR. I'm also a firm believer the hospital didn't want to hide a killer. I'd say they were convinced she was maybe just making mistakes, maybe gross negligence or professional malpractice and that's why they ended up putting her in a desk.
lucy was alleged to have killed the babies!!!!! there was no real evidence she was the killer!! juries can be wrong! ask the sub post office workers & andrew malkinson!! lucy was in shock in court!
I’m 9 months pregnant and this is so hard to listen to. I hope the prison mamas she’s with now give these babies some justice.
I’m expecting my first child this month too and was thinking the exact same thing! This monster should’ve never chosen this job. She could’ve go work at an abortion clinic instead of at a place where worrying parents are praying for the best chance and care for their newborns. Such innocent, sweet and tiny vulnerable babies. I was way too restless in hospital and scared that anything could happen to him I had little to no sleep at all two nurses I spoke to were horrible unlike the rest. My mum explained that as a newborn I was meant to have been looked after while she tried getting rest to fight off the pain when they gave her pain relief but they didn't do their job because they pushed me into a dark black room no one in sight and they were laughing and watching tv down the hall hospital wouldn't let my dad in back then due to hours I think? I was found in urine,soaked up tears on my face, feces and throw up everywhere in my hospital bed. I tried to let the nurses attempt to look after him once desparate for sleep but then I wondered if the same fate would happen to him because I remember all too well when I was staring at the ceiling in that dark room.. it was scary and so I decided to buzz back the nurse using my hospital bed button to be fair I gave it like 20-30 minutes and I told her I think I'm ready to try and sleep with my son beside me again and thanked her for being so kind and sweet.
Sorry but that thought gives me a big smile.theres a lot of women in prison that will give her some justice..I can only pray
I'm 8 months and this is hard to listen to. I can say I always worried about stuff like this so since my first baby @17 I have never send any of my 6 to the nursery or let them go anywhere I can't go.
Yes scary when I gave birth they put monitors on the babies and I said I don't need that on my baby but staff said no it's mandatory because of baby kidnapping you wouldn't think you would have to look out for the staff being the biggest threat
I hope her inmates give her the same treatment that she gave those innocent babies. This is a heartbreaking case

Unfortunately there is a good chance she isn't.
Wish she was in an American state with the death penalty. I don’t say that lightly. There are very few people I would think deserve this, and she is definitely one of them.
Imagine being told you're growing up without a sibling because they were MURDERED in the NICU by a nurse.

I can’t even begin to imagine the survivor guilt these kids are going to have. This woman has caused so much damage and most of it hasn’t even played out yet. It absolutely breaks my heart.
It's something so unfathomable. To know the hospital you were born in was a death trap which you were lucky to escape whereas your twin wasn't. How could she ever trust a hospital in her life? The survivors are the biggest victims of all.
I gasped at the identical triplets. Lucy didn't just take those babies from their parents, she took them from their remaining sibling. That poor child.
I don't understand why drs & nurses kept leaving her alone with the babies. Especially once ppl started getting suspicious insane how blind these ppl were
The hospital needs to be sued , there was one common denominator of that same nurse , she should’ve of been investigated .how can they not investigate multiple deaths that were happening back to back ?

How they couldn’t add 1+1= Lucy letby?!! 😕 if it walks like a duck quacks like a duck it’s not a freaking dog… it’s obvious who it was even after the first two or three they should have been able to put it together and I wonder if they did but they just tried to sweep it under the rug or ignore it?

This whole case baffles me! I'm just a little ole CNA in a nursing home but even a tiny skin tear has to be reported to the state. I don't understand how this many DEATHS were basically swept under the rug..

Those poor parents that have memory boxes, knowing that the murderer of their baby put it together. You would be desperate to keep anything connected to that baby but knowing she put it together??!! I can’t wrap my head around how torn they must feel. Heartbreaking 😢

I make those memory boxes as a NICU nurse. I'm proper sickened by imagining her taking some sort of joy in creating the NEED for the box. It's such a privilege to be trusted with these little babes, she abused that trust.
I had the exact same thought as you. Those hand and foot prints are the most precious and cherished things those parents have left of their little ones, but they were given to them by their killer. That is a kind of mental torture no one on earth should ever have to experience, let alone those poor innocent parents. My heart breaks for them.
Two of the doctors actually did suspect Lucy. They tried repeatedly to get an investigation going but the hospital threatened to put them before the disciplinary board because l7cy complained they were bullying and targeting her.
Make that 7. There were *seven* doctors and Consultants who raised their suspicions with the management of the hospital....it was on the second occasion they again raised their suspicions - some 15 Months after the first - did the police become involved.
I feel like Lucy being a smiling, attractive white woman sheltered her from investigation for a long time. What a deeply sick person. But she looks totally normal.

We were watching the verdict on shift the other day. It beggars belief.
As a nurse it made me so damn angry.
As a mother it broke my heart. ..
It's abhorrent.
I'm glad she got a full life sentence. Murdering babies and leaving people worried their child isn't safe in hospitals. That should NEVER be a parents worry when their child is sick. My son was in hospital last year. And I fully trusted he wonderful paeds nurses looking after him. That she could tarnish that trust for others is awful. She deserves to live out a long long life with nothing look forward to and hope for.
The Trust failed those babies and also you medical professionals. To be associated with such a monster by profess is a discredit to people who take oaths to save lives
Reminds me of the Beverley Allitt case, who is in a psyciatric centre, she should go to prison too, ....so tragic

Identical triplets are a one in 20 million occurrence and Lucy nonchalantly murdered 2 out of the 3 siblings. What a loss to the parents and to the rest of the families who also lost their infants to this evil and sadistic woman.
She possibly targeted multiples since she was an only child and was jealous of those with siblings.

There's an article in The Independent today that changes the law because of her! She refused to attend her sentencing (i.e. face her victims) and there was a HUGE public outcry, so now defendants MUST attend their sentencing and face their victims.

I didn't even know it was a choice!? I've NEVER heard of someone just saying "nah, im not goin to sentencing" like what!? 😂😂 where is this story at again? Shoot I wish I coulda skipped my own sentencing. Mine was just drugs tho so not like I had victims but my dad and mom and grandma were there to watch me get sentenced to 3 years in prison at freaking 19 years old so that was a horrible moment. I really wish I woulda known you could say, mmm no thanks.
Unenforceable laws, done so politicians can look hard on crime without doing one damn thing that would change anything.

"I will never have children, I'm not good enough" This statement of Lucy's sticks out to me as a possible motive.
The negligence of this hospital is truly despicable, she should have been linked to the first 2 babies end of story. No other babies needed to die or suffer lifelong complications.
This 💯 I never understood how they let it get this far? I saw where one of her coworkers actually suspected her in the beginning and he went to the higher ups and he was made to apologize to her for thinking she had anything to do with it!!! 🥺
Yea it's ridiculous that she got away with it for so long. A coworker of mine joked that if a particularly difficult patient passed he wouldn't care. Low and behold the patient passed the next shift and he was told to stay home while they investigated.
Unforgiveable. Even trying to protect her. They should be on trial too. Total negligence. Deriliction of duty. How many could have been saved. Those poor parents need answers.
I really don't get how people who don't use any common sense or logic work at senior management positions. I think they should be in prison too. At least 3-4 deaths are on them because they were either covering up or negligent. They knew who was responsible from the first months of deaths happening.

And she knew that would be the case. She definitely knew that if she were to ever be caught, all of those parents would think of her, what she's done to their babies and cause them even more grief each and every time they'd look at their babies' hand and footprints.
Oh my. I hadn’t thought of that. Even more horrible, because they’re not going to want to discard their baby’s hand or footprints.
That was her job, to do the memory box. A lot of the things she did, were her job. Standing over a cot and observing a baby waiting for an issue to self-correct, or making a clinical observation before calling for a doctor is also part of a nurse's job.

Looked up her name on google and immediately saw a bunch of articles saying she has “fans” and they are sending her Christmas letters in the mail. The thought of people feeling sorry for this woman makes me sick.

@@davecalderdalelufc8173I was a preemie in 83, due in 84… I had something similar to meningitis but I was 4 years old, something meningococcal as a result of scratching my eye with my fingernail (bacteria), I am not permanently blind but at the time I was blind in one eye for a week, I remember wearing the pirate patch on my eye, laying on my stomach, clawing at the carpet because the pain was so bad… and doctors holding me down in the hospital to keep me still for the spinal tap, looong needle up inside my back I remember…

There’s a few people in the uk that just can’t believe anyone could do this. So they think she’s been wrongly convicted especially as no evidence of cctv or witnesses. I think they only feel pity as they think she’s been put away for something she didn’t do. This amount of circumstantial evidence bypasses any coincidence
that mother seeing her baby crying in pain with blood coming out of their mouth sounds like something out of a horror movie, i cant even imagine how traumatic that is. rip to all of these babies 💗
I can't imagine. I have 5 children. My last one was born early and in and out of NICU....I am heart wrenched. The pain on that poor baby. I wish there were REAL punishment for criminals like this...prison is nothing but a free life card. Now we all get to pay to care for this woman....it's sick. Medal should be shoved down her throat. That part hit me the most, and then the baby was cuddled by their parents and died in their arms, I couldn't stop crying! 😭💔
I almost had to skip through that one, but told myself that baby & the parents had to physically go through that, so the least I could do was listen. But, it was rough. The mental picture was exactly as you said. Out of a HORROR MOVIE. There's no words to describe this type of evil!

Danielle, I want to tell you that I am so very touched by the way you tell this horrific story. I held my first born infant in my arms as he passed away. (He was born with a terminal birth defect - we were blessed to be able to say goodbye.) I bring this up because seeing you become so emotional when you tell about the parents in this story who held their babies and said their own agonizing goodbyes touches me deeply. It has been years since I lost my son, but I found comfort for my own grief through the empathy and compassion you share toward the victims here as you tell this story. Thank you so much for your compassion, empathy, and for the care with which you recount these awful events. It means so very much to me, and I feel sure that I am not the only viewer who feels this way.

Can agree with this! Won’t lie I was tearing up seeing her cry here. I’ve never seen her show this much emotion doing a case before.
I am a nurse. I reported a very abusive situation. I got accused of much worse, and a few of the staff involved grouped against me (the manager was very involved with this particular "group" of nurses). I have the conversations recorded - essentially HR said there was nothing they could do when I reported this and expressed "fear" of working under that manager, the HEAD of HR said, "there was nothing they could do." So, my only choice was to immediately quit. Fast forward 6 months later - my husband heard about the rumor at work from a coworker who was married to a nurse who was a friend of a friend of a friend who doesn't even work in healthcare anymore. Don't get me started on what has happened to me for not backing down from being a REAL patient advocate...it's always us against it...ALL of that (the politics mentioned in the video, and my experience) and more. Healthcare is NOT healthcare, it is a business to everyone in the "higher up" positions. I've worked in administration and had to quit because of how vile it is.
So, that's healthcare. Whistleblowers get CUCKED. I retired from nursing after 10 years - that was my FINAL job. All hospitals need reviews that are not linked to the government, but a third party whose only goal is to secure patient and staff unbiased advocacy. Good luck, there are too many big pockets involved...major reform needs to happen, and it's unfortunate that people will not/cannot/won't/unable to stand against it.
I can keep going. But I wont...because all I'm getting at is...I hate healthcare as it stands and this atrocity should be a BULLHORN of a wakeup call across the entire freaking world.

@@Pongi626 I always did, and I always paid the price. Our system in the U.S. doesn't actually want "good" nurses...they want bodies with quiet voices to keep the cash cows happy. It's so so sad. I cried so much so often...the job took so much out of me, and I still struggle with stepping away because I know as little as I could have...I was helping. It's so awful.
My dad works in IT security, and he told me once that a collegue of his was supposed to clean up the jumbled mess of healthcare administration. Not a week later, he was told not to bother with it, because the "higher ups" didn't want transparency in a system with so much money flowing through it.

I was advised by police to carry a phone I could tape any words spoken to me by a toxic group. I thought about it. Then fenced them out of my home and paddock....life's too short. Ignore them all...

Did this hospital not have cameras in the rooms? And maybe set up a “buddy system” so that way no single nurse is alone with a baby. How awful. My heart breaks for those sweet babies. Their lil bodies went through so much. It’s all unimaginable. The hospital also needs to be held accountable.
That what I was internally screaming when I watched a different video on the case. They could’ve saved so many babies if they set up cameras and caught her in the act.
Think they said the hospital got cameras recently as of 2020.
Sadly cameras won't happen, the privacy, dignity of patients will take precedence over what is while absolutely horrible, is very rare in the world.
Instead, the hospitals need to take patient and colleague concerns seriously. Automatic tests/post mortems should also happen when a serious incident, unexplained event or death occurs.
Even patients that have had serious incidents should be dealt with a different nurse, different team or transferred to a different hospital.
Even the buddy system you've suggested, while it may help abit, again there isn't the staff to do it and if someone really wanted to do this, they'd have the time to. Letby and Allit both did their actions when people went for breaks, were away from the cots.
Even just simple things like nurses being able to be at the cotside instead of managing countless patients per nurse, and not having other tasks that take them away from the bedside/cotside would minimise the chance of this happening.

It's literally like that top guy in your workplace that hasn't got a clue, comes up with what they think is a great idea and people on the ground know its not a good idea but, cannot get through to the top people kind of scenerio.

I’m expecting my first child this month and I do sometimes worry about how to be able to protect him from many things.
As the mother of a micro-preemie, this case is so hard for me to listen to and comprehend. My daughter was born 15 weeks early, weighed 1.5 lbs, and spent her first 90 days of life in the NICU. Since then, I have literally idolized NICU nurses and for one of them to intentionally commit such evil, vile, and atrocious acts is just beyond anything I can put in to words. Our NICU nurses where absolute angels…they were my life line when I couldn’t be with her 24 hours a day. They were patient and understanding and I never had a doubt that they would do everything in their power to keep my daughter safe and ensure that she would eventually come home with us. They tolerated my relentless calls to check in when I wasn’t there and my constant questions when I was there. We actually became very close to some of our nurses and I trusted their advice even above the doctors who were usually only there for an hour a day at most. Those nurses truly loved my daughter by the time we left as well as all of the other babies in their care. They were extremely protective of them to the point of even intentionally keeping babies longer than necessary if they felt the home environment wasn’t going to be great. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to even imagine one of them intentionally harming a baby. My heart breaks for the parents and families who fell victim to this evil woman. My daughter is now 21 years old and in her senior year of college. She’s perfectly healthy thanks to her wonderful NICU nurses who loved her and cared for her during her first crucial months of life. We’re still in touch with many of them, exchanging Christmas cards and occasional letters and one of them even drove for hours to attend her high school graduation. Lucy Letby is an evil heartless monster who doesn’t deserve the title of NICU nurse.

I too, felt sympathy for her parents - as a mother myself, I feel it's natural to do so. However, this was fleeting & disappeared after watching footage of LL's background & her (imo unhealthy) relationship with her parents. I feel their relationship shows enmeshment where the boundaries are blurred or absent. The parents' refusal to see their daughter's guilt & how they have maintained she has been unfairly judged is typical as was her mother's reaction when LL was arrested when she demanded the police "Take me, I did it!"... I have yet to find a video that discusses her childhood & the relationship she with her parents in any great depth but believe there's enough evidence to show that LL was always doted on by her mum & dad, who shielded her from ever taking responsibility for her actions, all through growing up & into her adulthood. As soon as the case began to unfold, my first thought was that LL had Munchausen's by Proxy (or Factitious Disorder of another as it's now labeled) & have no doubt she is guilty!! I feel her actions & reactions make her psychopathy & narcissism clearly visible, with her reactions towards her victims' parents & complete lack of emotion demonstrating nothing but self-interest with an outstanding lack of accountability, guilt & remorse.

There definitely needs to be a public inquiry into the senior management of the hospital. It’s one thing for her to do all these murders and attempted murders, but another for them to willingly let them to continue happening after the first few without looking into it at all. This all could have been avoided so much sooner if it wasn’t for management not doing their job.
As a NICU mom, this case makes me absolutely sick. It’s exactly why I never left my daughters bedside, stayed in the hospital with her for all 143 nights. Our nurses were overall wonderful but there were mistakes, cannot fathom anyone intentionally harming such tiny babes. She deserves to rot in jail.

Yesssss, mistakes happen. NG tubes going into the lung and aspirating was a common one I would see during our NICU stay. Super scary and would set the baby back. Or giving a baby another moms breast milk by mistake. One nurse pricked herself with a needle after taking blood from my son, had to sign a bunch of paperwork for that one. Goodness what an exhausting 4 months that was. So glad we all made it out unscathed.

If everyone (including myself) had realized it was a tongue tie making feeding so uncomfortable that he wouldn’t do it, then he likely would have never gone to the nicu.
I wasn’t able to continue staying by his side either because my anemia was in full swing and they wanted to check me constantly and would interrupt me in the freakin nicu. And give me meds for things that didnt exist vs what did exist.
I have a hard time trusting healthcare staff or taking their word for things because they’ve gotten my diagnosis wrong or ignored the correct diagnosis from my previous doc, not listened to me when i told them symptoms…. Etc.
so my entire second birth and stay in the hospital was traumatic. Not as traumatic as the first, but definitely not a piece of cake. Well, my second actual birth was a piece of cake, no drugs for it and it was quicker and even less painful.
I didn’t worry that someone was intentionally harming him though. This woman is the devil.

Both of my daughters were NICU babies and I lived in the NICU room with them only leaving to take a shower at honeif my partner was there or to take a quick walk and get my emotions together even though I'm a nurse it's not the same when it's your own child struggling to survive. Thankfully they are both doing amazing now at ages 15 and 7 and I am very lucky the nursing staff was amazing.

I’m a L&D nurse and a Nicu nurse. This makes me absolutely makes me sick. Nurses bust their ass to keep these babies alive and do our best to make sure that they go home with their parents. I won’t say what I would like to do to Lucy. My heart breaks for the parents of the angel babies. Hell is not hot enough for Lucy

40 minutes in, and it's absolutely ridiculous that the hospital didn't suspect anything that the same thing kept happening again and again when the SAME nurse was on the shift? The hospital should have been investigated and fined as well for their negligence.
I hope the hospital is sued into oblivion and those managers are left destitute! There is no punishment harsh enough for letting 7 babies die and even more be assaulted.

Paeds nurse here have helped out occasionally in nicu but mainly just feeding the weller babies that just need fattening up for home. Couldn’t work in nicu full time there so scarily tiny and vulnerable. I just can’t believe how awful this case is and how many red flags there were. The thought of leaving your patient with another nurse only to come back and they’ve done something to that baby just beyond words. I think I’d have to leave the profession if that had happened to me so traumatic

As a nurse myself, the management need to be also held accountable. It’s crazy how much things they ignore, in the hospitals I’ve worked too. Not necessarily to do with deaths but they don’t care about patients safety or wellbeing of staff. We are always overworked & understaffed.

Many people did report Lucy but hospital admin refused to investigate. Those who reported her were punished. They even made doctors apologize to Lucy for "bullying" her.
Not only they failed to investigate her, but they actually ASSIGNED her to the other babies. The hospital is almost just as guilty for it.

As the mother of a micro preemie, born at 23wks and only weighed 1lb 5oz, who did a 109 day stint in the NICU this case is terrifying. The amount of trust you implicitly put in the staff at places like that will always give me pause. Those poor babies and their families 😢. My heart is utterly broken for them.

I can also relate to this as mine was a 24 wk premie and was in the NICU for 145 days and really struggled at times, also the closest NICU was 300 miles from where I live. It’s terrifying to think that people you have to trust completely with your fragile baby could do these kinds of things.
Can you even imagine being those parents even til today AND not only you lost your baby, but they were murdered! AND their murderer put together all that you have left of the baby!! The memories!! The box!!! The hair!! The pics!!! They were all put together by her. She touched every bit of it!! Good lord!

The notes found under her bed were taken out of context she felt guilty for not being able to save them and blamed herself she never admitted killing them in her notes. Her family who know her better than anyone think she's innocent and so do many of her friends and colleagues. The babies died from natural deaths or failures in the hospital Lucy has been used as a scapegoat.

As a NICU mom three times over, this case was difficult to listen to. The biggest red flag 🚩🚩 was that she returned to work after experiencing patient deaths or near deaths. Our youngest (born at 24 weeks, extremely sick and had intubation injuries) nearly died during his NICU stay. His nurse during that shift loved him very much. She absolutely broke down after they resuscitated and intubated our baby. She left telling the nurse manager and us that she would be off the next day. It was awful for everyone that worked on him.
Lucy is a terrible horrible monster of a person. Too many people ignored very concerning coincidences. Ugh this makes my stomach absolutely sick.

Okay I’m sooo confused, I’m a med tech at a senior care facility. When residents pass away NOBODY I’ve ever worked with has ever taken time off because of it, I know that bereavement is a thing but I just thought it was for more extreme situations or something? Maybe it’s different in senior care? Which would be really interesting. But I’ve never thought it was weird to come to work after experiencing residents/ patients pass, honestly the other way around.. very strange

There is a case like this going on in Pennsylvania right now. A nurse in a rehab/nursing home killed several people by injecting them with insulin and air. People are so awful.

I'm sure multiple staff members reported it to senior management. I think the other nurses caught on to what was going on too and reported her as well, but probably were told Lucy was not involved not to create a "fuss" as they said.

I am pretty sure I saw some-one representing the Countess of Chester say that they no longer take very premature babies so that in part explains the lower than average mortality rate. I sincerely hope that LL is suffering in prison, knowing she won't be going to Ibiza ...or anywhere, ever again. I had premature twins and it is such a frightening time. My heart goes out to all the parents who so cruelly had their children's lives stolen.
As a mother, I could never imagine the pain these parents went through. I cried for hours after hearing about this case. It terrifies me that someone who seems so normal could do something like this.

I think it could also be that she was intentionally harming the babies in order to save them. Its a metal illness often seen in medical professions. A fucked up version of a hero's complex. They make their victims worse before ultimately healing them. I dont know if she actually wanted to kill the babies or just wanted the glory or caring for them. Maybe she just wanted the synpathy and the mourning from parents to, someone to appreciate her for "all that she did".
Either way shes servely messed up and should never be allowed children again.

I’ve seen several comments of moms saying “this is why I never left my baby…” As a first time mom myself, I was so unprepared for how exhausted and depleted I was after having a baby and, mind you, mine was full term and healthy. Granted, I had a hard pregnancy with complications and a c-section, but my daughter was not in the NICU, nor as vulnerable as these babies. Still, I had to rely on the nurses to help care for my baby at night while I slept and recovered. New parents are also so vulnerable and we place so much trust in healthcare professionals like WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO. Caring for babies is literally their job. This was not a failing on the part of ANY of these parents and I know they must have so much guilt. I’m glad some parents had the energy not to leave their children, and I absolutely do not shame their choices, but I’m sick of reading these comments inadvertently shaming the parents for simply taking short breaks to get food or to sleep when they were told their child was stable. They did NOTHING wrong by placing their trust in hospital staff while they met their basic human necessities.
I know people leaving comments like that are not thinking of how backhanded a statement like that is, but I can’t imagine being a parent having gone through this case or one similar and immediately reading “this is why I didn’t leave my baby.” Please, have some self awareness and take a second to realize how sensitive this subject is. Danielle and other creators in her genre have said families of victims and victims themselves do watch her videos, so please be aware, kind, and cognizant.

Right? It is absolutely ridiculous to talk about these parents "leaving" their babies. First you don't get a choice in some situations, and those tend to be nicu babies. In normal circumstances, parents are 100% in the way when their baby is being treated in an emergency situation. Sometimes you can't go into the nicu at all to see your baby, the thought which is just horrifying.
Also, what parent would have stopped a nurse that looked like they were changing or introducing something to an iv, or looked like they were taking blood for a test? Some people are nosy or curious, but most people would put trust in staff automatically because it was a hospital. My heart breaks for these families.
It's also a dumbass comment because when your baby is in the NICU, you literally have no choice but to leave his/her side! You're not allowed to stay in the NICU 24/7 with your baby. It's not your decision or choice to leave the baby's side.
So many mothers are super judgemental and crazy self-righteous nowadays. It makes me really glad that my kids are grown.

As a Nicu mom of 3 micro-premies babies this case makes me so upset, so frustrated. When I saw this case the first time I had my last baby in NICU just new born in a hospital that I have to fight day and night with nurses and doctors. Couldn’t transport her to our local facility because she was entubated. She was in Nicu for 138 days. So this case roll in my head day and night the whole time she was in that other hospital. When moved to our local NICU, I had peace of mind since we know the nurses from previous babies. In fact we have a dear nurse to us that took care of my 3 kids. So in a little more positive note, they still are amazing NICU NURSES, dedicated to this babies.
She’s got the most innocent looking face of evil I’ve ever seen…. Justice will only be served if a loving mother gets hold of her in prison 🤬

Amelia Dyer the British hospital trained Nurse turned 'baby farmer' who murdered several hundred babies (hanged in 1896) had a kind, motherly appearence and manner - which was how she got away with it for so long.
Her police photo had been heavily retouched to make her look harsh and evil - as they also did with the photo of Moira Hindley who I have seen in person and looked nothing like that photo.
What makes me even more frustrated about this case, is when some of the babies would leave the hospital only to be TRANSFERRED BACK TO THE HOSPITAL LUCY WORKED AT 😡🤬

I remember a nurse in a neonatal unit, old bat, rude, loud and really not gentle, actually saved me from agony and helped me, when all of the young nice nurses failed to acknowledge the problem. I was so thankful to this old unlikeable nurse. Nice does not mean anything when it comes to caring

Baby G’s story I find particularly devastating because she fought so hard and although she didn’t lose her life she lost the life she could have had. They are all heartbreaking cases, I pray that their families can feel a small amount of justice from the verdict although that will never repair the damage done

I told my fiance that... I did t see my son for almost 2 hours due to me ha ing a c section and having to be sewn back together and recovering. I told him to never ever leave him alone under any circumstances!

After baby E’s story I just couldn’t listen to it any more. And I really never have this. Maybe it’s also coz this month I’m expecting my first child to be born. But it’s just horrible how she treated these babies. I hope she has a terrible time in prison
Seriously, this attention seeking behavior has become an epidemic of its own. Lucy Letby has clearly always been the centre of attention during her childhood at home and due to her more than healthy self esteem within her circle of friends as well. But as a nurse, she was one amongst many - a worker, not a princess. So she made herself the centre of attention once again through the worst means possible.
How can you speculate on her life and you don’t know her?

We will never truly know why they are the way they are but we can make observations and put two and two together based in how their lives have played out. I mean, it’s better than having to think that she just did it for the sake of it.

It’s horrid that the doctors who kept saying something wasn’t right with Lucy were forced to write apology notes for bullying her and complaining. They were basically silenced and threatened with being sacked, hospital needs to be investigated honestly for negligence
Yeah, instead they coddled a murderer and forced other people to do the same.
Unfortunately, they did exactly what they were created to do, protect the hospital. They aren't there to protect the patients. Just like HR is there to protect a company from potential lawsuits, not to advocate for the employees.
I truly appreciate you for doing such hard cases and that even with how big your channel has gotten you have never lost your empathy and heart. As someone who has lost babies myself my heart goes out to all of these parents and what this woman did is so evil and disgusting its truly horrifying and unbelievable she was allowed to do this and nothing was done sooner.

She's guilty, admission is guilt. Anyone defending Lucy is worse than she is.
My mother was a NICU nurse at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD for many years. This case would have infuriated her so so much. She's gone now, taken to soon, so in her name I want to send all my prayers, blessings and love to all the victims of this absolute monster.

Omg I work in the NICU in Canada. Our nurses would’ve been investigated after the first death! Any infant death no matter how premature is sent for an autopsy, then released to the funeral home. Always an autopsy first. Then investigation by HR and all parties questioned. This hospital sounds negligent. I’m literally so mad after hearing about baby F and that they suspected her already but let her back? I’m crying I’m so mad. This is a pure evil demon. She’s not even human. She should have been dealt with by grieving parents or people that can’t have children and stoned or worse. This is so disgusting. Poor poor babies. Omg.
Same in America, we've had our issues, but NICU, there's noway this would've happened. This monster needs to burn in hell forever.
Despite the lack of conventional signs from her past, I have an idea what caused her to snap.
Perhaps, Ms Letby was pressured by her suffocating parents to pursue a selfless life and thought a career of a nurse would give her fulfilment. But after going through the higher education system, she found herself stuck in a job which filled her with emptiness. Leaving her with the children in her hospital as outlets for her untamed dark side.
Edit - That or shes just a psychopath.

I worked as a phlebotomist in a hospital and they had cameras in the NICU, with NO blind spots. The people who ignored all those doctors should be held liable for every NICU death that happened after they were told about this.
Why THE FUCK were video surveillance cameras not installed in those nurseries after the first couple of attacks and attempts?!? It makes absolutely no sense, none. This whole story is just beyond heartbreaking, but when it came to the baby the she shoved a metal instrument down their throat, that’s when I just about lost it, and why was no X-ray or scan done at all? They would have noticed that right away?!?
Thank you for sharing this story, I think it’s really important that people are made aware of this kind of evil, and as always you went over the case with such compassion and grace. Thank you for that.

the NHS is garbage. i dont know if ur in the UK like me but our hosptials are known for being negligent and atrocious care
It would be illegal in the US to put up any cameras bc of HIPPA laws that protect all patients medical history- aka it’s illegal to record inside a patients room or anywhere that medical procedures are performed or that any patient medical information or procedures are even discussed. I’m sure the UK has a similar law(s).

How did you manage to read through and convey these horrific baby deaths. I just can't take it, hearing how she cruelly murdered those poor angels. Such a sick sick evil woman. Unfortunately, this case has caused me, and probably others, to lose trust in nurses or hospital staff.

Obviously all the deaths are Lucy Letby’s fault, but how on earth did the nurse in charge of Baby C not put 2 and 2 together when she was in the room with Lucy who was literally standing over the baby both times he or she went into cardiac arrest??!

Paediatric nurse here, I don't think the first thing in your head is to think the nurse who's trained specifically to look after sick children, along with the stress of the job, would deliberate try and harm a child. My thought would most likely be that they are there to help as that's what nurses are supposed to do!! I'm sure it's also easy to be brainwashed by someone who fakes being a caring nurturing nurse
@@siinnead absolutely, I think the nurses that worked along side her probably feel enough guilt without it being piled on. They just thought everyone else was doing their job like they were, it’s easy to say in hindsight knowing what we know now.
Being an only child could possibly be something to consider? She may have been jealous of siblings, just a theory

My heart breaks for the parents and siblings who survived knowing their twins were murdered. I do feel bad for the doctors who were desperate for an investigation, and I believe they pleaded not to have Lucy on the ward. Entire senior management FAILED, I believe they need to serve time in jail.

I lost my infant son because of nurse neglect. He passed in my arms 6hrs after birth. That has been hard enough for me to accept, as I feel she inadvertently murdered my son. I can't imagine how angry and upset these parents are. My heart goes out to them, this grief is neverending. As a former nurse, this infuriates me beyond words. Imagine being these babies main nurse?! I would blame myself forever. So many lives were destroyed by this evil, vile thing.
