    I don't know why I haven't seen DC Rivals being compared to Kondaa anywhere else yet, they look like very similarly designed rides made by different manufacturers.

      Intamin has never minded “borrowing” ideas from other manufacturers, but Mack Rides really seamed to like the 2000s Intamin track design, so they’re running with it.

      Because dc rivals, other than the non inverting loop, is a much more traditional and old style hyper layout if you look at just the elements. It doesn’t feature any weird RMC like elements like kondaa does

      @EliteCoasters  Před 3 lety +1

      It's great that Intamin is making their best attractions available and affordable for parks like Walibi Belgium! With their new small blitz coaster layouts, they seem to be extending their reach to parks even smaller than that.

    • @gameplayxtreme3389
      @gameplayxtreme3389 Před 3 lety +1

      I mean, for a long time the park's main coasters were a terribly painful Vekoma woodie (I get why Vekoma didn't build more than 3) and a Vekoma SLC. Then the park got Pulsar (which I wasn't able to ride because it broke down before I went on it...), Tiki Waka (highly underrated imo) and Kondaa, and it really is a great park for coasters now. They also made quite a good effort in theming their new and existing areas, the park looks so nice now.

    Thank you thank you thank you. That's exactly it. The layout is everything. The feel of freedom, of great athleticness and flexibility, a creative layout with sense of speed that never gets boring. But above all, just the feel of riding it.
    I am searching for words to describe that quality. It's neither the most inversions nor the greatest forces. It's just the right bend at the right time. Like the timing of comedy. It probably has to do with human anticipation as well.
    DC Rivals already has some recognition, but people that see it might also think, there's only one inversion, maybe 2 if you count that overbanked turn. Then it's a bunch of turns and hills. So what is so great about it? Well, of the coasters I've ridden, it comes close to the feel that I want to have in a coaster. It just feels... right. If you ride it. The turns, the positive, negative and lateral forces (there are many of the last two on it which I like), it all comes at the right time. It feels like flying through the air.
    PS: From the onride, Lech Coaster looks similar to this. I have to ride it sometime. For example with Velocicoaster, that airtime stall right after the deep drop looks a bit much, don't know if I could enjoy it as much, after all my muscles had to brace for highly positive G impact right before. That's about that pacing and human anticipation that I've mentioned. The perfect element at the right place just feels right.
    PPS: And it's about those comfy lap-bar seats as well. You are only fixated at one point. The rest of the body is able to move. That way, you feel the full freedom of the negatives and laterals. At those twisted airtime hills, you often feel disconnected from your seat at times. The freel of being free, it's awesome. With shoulder constraints, that feel is not possible, you are constrained into the seat and feel fixed to the car at all times.

    I would personally put Nemesis as at least an honourable mention. Just the way the ride flows from element to element through the terrain (which that on its own was innovative). I think John Wardly did an excellent job at creating such an impactful layout with so many restrictions jst in general, let alone for the mid 90's. Steel Vengeance should be honourable mentions or low on the list imo. It's an extremely good ride but it just feels very forced at the end with all the airtime hills. For the most part the layout is amazing and flows brilliantly but that final third of the ride just doesn't do it for me and finishing a ride off on a bad note is one of the worst things a layout can do.
    Also Kondaa is out here pulling a Hyperion tbh. Ridiculous layout but some inexcusable flaws in the pacing that just break up the ride. I wish it were just one small period of downtime, say just through the non-inverting cobra roll but there are multiple sections that are underwhelming. Very unfortunate as it had probably the best layout on a coaster to date.

    • @EliteCoasters
