    That internal pipe cutter tip is invaluable. A great tip outside the Kerdi instructions that allows you to level the entire floor (even outside the shower area) prior to gluing the drain without under-floor access. Thank you!

    Can you use something like Regard on top of this? I have had a shower leak and now I am paranoid and would like to have as many levels of protection as possible when I redo it.

    Have you ever install kerdi membrane over plywood of any kind

    How did you mount glass to curb? I’m assuming that can’t be drilled into? Silicone caulk?

    Does it matter that the valleys of the shower pan don’t go directly to the corners of the drain? I see you tiled to the corners but the lines are slightly off from the pan

    You should do floor first and then the walls to avoid leaks!

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před 4 měsíci +3

      No, either is fine. I prefer installing the KERDI-BOARD first then the shower pan. That way, you eliminate accidentally dropping a screw on the pan and puncturing the KERDI.

    Hey in ur other video of this shower, “schluter shower for beginners” you have large format tile on the shower floor. Do you have a video on that? Thank you

    Thanks for the video, I'm in the process of diying my shower. Although I'm not using the kerdi board, I'm using the kerdi membrain over the wonderboard. If you were going to make a curb (not the kerdi) what would you use to make it?

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před rokem

      You could use cement board over 2x4s then apply thin-set and mesh tape. Allow that to cure then use KERDI over it and use the prefab corners - inside and outside - to waterproof

    Great video!
    If the curb is foam, how can the bottom of the shower door be anchored to it? You wouldn’t want to rely on just the tile to hold it.

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před rokem +3

      Thank you, you have a few options. First, you can bond a piece of HDPE (like that used for cutting boards) to the top of the curb with Kerdi-Fix. As long as screws don't go through the HDPE, they'll anchor any door. Second, you could do the same thing but with a solid curb top, e.g. quartz. Finally, you could use Schluter DECO-SG for the solid glass panel and use a clamp system for the door

    I have watched many of your videos they are great! How do decide between cement board and waterproofing vs. using Kerdi? The later is more expensive but saves time? Would a DIY prefer the former? Is one “better” than the other?

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před rokem +2

      I prefer KERDI-BOARD because it’s lighter, easier to cut, can be wet shimmed and scraps can be used to make custom niches, shelves, and even curbs. It’s more expensive than cement board but also more versatile

    We're your steps reversed? It looks like you installed the drain grate and then the shower tray. Did you install the shower tray over the tile?

    I see you applied the wall corner membrane after the shower bottom corner membrane. Schluter always shows the wall done first, but your way makes more sense. Do you still recommend this method? Thanks!

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před 7 měsíci

      As long as you have 2” overlap into the corners or over other membrane it will be waterproof. Were you referring to applying the the inside corners first?
