I'm sad for America and do NOT want a dictator. I'm praying he will not win.
Praying with you! 🙏🏻 I'm a German, living in the US. Because of our horrible, sad history, I absolutely can't take it lightly when a possible future president wants to become a dictator and above the law.
It's extremely scary and I think we need to acknowledge this . There's still love and hope and joy and it's good I'm not alone.
I give myself breaks from CZcams and other news so it's less overwhelming. Nature helps as well.

Speaking of anxiety, I'm sitting here as America stumbles into late stages of the empire, and understand clearly the inversion of authoritarianism we have here. If you didn't know, our dictatorship is formed. It doesn't require a figurehead. Biden has proven that. But here you are worried about 1 person. I can't say I believe your concerns are legitimate.

If you live in the US, what helps me is to try to be a bit pro active, donate to the democratic party, support CZcams channels who spread the truth (even though I need breaks from that as well), I also tried posting something on my Facebook page. Try to move your body as well to process these heavy emotions. But it's totally understandable how you feel.
Me too. Have donated multiple times (something I’d never done till lately). So much sorrow is in my life because of serious issues and the current political state just adds to it. I live near Lake Michigan and today I went to a beautiful park and sat in the sun looking at the water, a lighthouse, flowers, a family with kids sitting on the beach. Prayed, read my Bible, shed a few tears. Home now with a purring cat on my lap. Thanks for this reminder, Rev Ed.

When Hitler planned the invasion of England and all was very dark and seemed lost Churchill called a national day of prayer. We know the results. Praise God and keep praising Him no matter how bad the situation looks or how bad it gets. He is the victory!
For most of my adult life, I had a steady undercurrent of joy, despite hard times and disappointment. From the minute the trump era began, and began to have his cult members become more hateful, and actively working against our democracy, the joy began to fade. That ramped up over the Covid experience, with more lies and violent rhetoric- ramped up more with the Jan 6 mess. Totally stressed and disillusioned and worse. Slowly, I did begin to find some of that joy. Remembered that being intentionally GRATEFUL leads to joy. And doing as you say here- intentionally looking for reasons to feel that substratum of joy. Grateful for your presence amidst all the darkness! ❤❤❤

Thank you Rev Ed Trevors for everything you do, for your encouragement and understanding! ❤️ It's really difficult at the moment, to allow ourselves joy and peace with all the craziness going on. For me, I think what bothers me most is the amount of people who let themselves be blinded and manipulated by such an obviously unethical and cold person like Trump. It's hard for me to understand.
But you're right, there's still hope, joy and peace and after acknowledging our sorrow and fear we can allow that to be there.
I never thought of the difference between joy and happiness. It is a dark time to be alive for a lot of reasons.

We must try and not read or watch the news constantly. Once a day is enough. Focus on good things, happy times. Where you place your focus and attention is your reality. I understand your feelings of the times we live in. I would recommend to read 2 Corinthians 12. It explains how to regain hope through Jesus. The way you feel about Trump is a crisis in America. We must reject feelings of hatred. Pray for the conversion of those that promote such things. We are called to pray and love everyone. Accept the fact that this is real and go on with your life. I know it's a harsh thing to think about, but we have many gifts to share. Chin up and persevere and reject hatred in any form.
God wants you to find joy. Be happy that you are able to exist and witness God's glory all around you.

Thank you for this...I really needed it today. Recently I have been on the verge of tears dealing with depression and anxiety about the looming political storm here in the US.
Last night after a wonderful birthday I listened to President Bidens press conference. I felt hope again. Then listening to some of the analysis of it I became so overwhelmed with sadness and broke down in tears. I poured out my heart to God and prayed for a miracle for He is the God of miracles. He alone knows the anguish of our hearts. He is our living hope. I'm also staying away for awhile from the negativity washing through the media. I knew that there were others out feeling the strain like I feel

My mom has always called this as being "world weary." I think that's especially true now. Although my beliefs continue to grow and change, I can't look at a blade of grass and NOT "see" God. Or something bigger than myself. (For me, that's God/Christ). That doesn't mean all peachy because it's not. But i know im not alone.

I live in a senior community adjacent to a grade school, and hearing the laughter and playing is like soul food.
A really sweet thing just happened to me. I was sitting down, next to the glass door that leads into our backyard to enjoy a cup of coffee.
A young Robin (bird) was sitting right outside the door, looking at me, closing it's eyes gently and seemingly content. I just watched the bird and felt a sense of peace. I talked to it softly and it even seemed to answer. 😊 We are more connected to nature, God and the bigger picture than we think sometimes.

Fear, sorrow, impotent anger. I've felt them all and continue to feel them. I have to acknowledge that and know what triggers them, then decide how much of that I want to invite in. After that, I seek out the things that bring me joy or even just pleasure. Think I'll go play with my mineral collection for a while.

The dark times can really wear a person down over time. At the same time, when we allow it, perhaps we come to appreciate the little things more.
Thank you Rev and well said. Every time I spend time with the Lord, through nature, books and videos, I always feel better. Every time. But we do have to keep going back to the well, for me everyday. I also enjoy hand embroidery because it forces me to be calm and steady. I often think right now, oh no oh no oh no. Reading everyone's comments, oh no. I'm not the only one that feels this anxiety. I guess I hope I'm the only one struggling, but no. We are in a kind and sensitive boat of caring individuals, rowing together upstream. And God is with us too, He knows our pain and He's always sending us love.💖💖💖

I understand your friend’s feelings. I have been trying to find joy in the small things. My 69 year old husband has Frontotemporal Dementia, the behavioral variant. He can be very challenging. My brother has a very rare form of cancer. I also help with my 94 year old mom. I find joy in watching the yellow finches at our bird feeder and watching the hummingbirds fight over their 3 feeders. I find joy in talking to friends. I find joy in my 2 year old grandson and his FaceTime calls. Some days I have to look harder than other days. I am worried about Trump winning the election also. Life can be very difficult. Thank you Rev. Ed for reminding me to find joy in the little things!

Here is a story that recently brought me a lot of joy. It takes place in the summer of 1963. John F. Kennedy is still president. The Beatles were taking off in the UK, but were still completely unknown in North America.
Management gave the four members of the Beatles a month off to rest and enjoy. George Harrison decided he was going to visit his sister in America. (She married an American, and they were settled in rural Benton, Illinois. (About halfway on a line from St. Louis and Evansville, Indiana -- southern Illinois.
It would be the last vacation Harrison would be able to take in his life and enjoy complete anonymity. And he absolutely loved small-town America. But wait... there's more!
The town had a very good record store, and George loved hanging out there, and bought quite a few rare singles and such. One of the singles was the song "Always" -- composed by Irving Berlin. In this case, the artist was James Ray. That was the A side ... but George completely fell in love with the B side of that James Ray single, which the world completely overlooked until George recorded it himself many years later.

Let's turn that fear we are all feeling into action - apart from praying and voting for democracy in November, another thing we can do (if living in the US), we can donate to the democratic party. Also, we can try to talk to others (in a respectful way) , we can post and spread the truth on social media etc.
I do agree with the pastor that we need breaks from the political craziness as well and seek peace and joy, movement, time in nature, maybe watching some comedy etc. But also, taking action can help to make us feel less powerless and alone!

typical warm half of the year day for me: i wake at dawn and work in my little orchard. i pray. i chant. i meditate on readings. i am surrounded by the native bees all over my flowers. the birds eat out of my hand. the deer bring their young faun and munch on food i give them from my garden. i am not wealthy. i live on less than $10k/yr. but i would not trade places with any rich man. nature is the greatest teacher. it is also the best therapy. the nearer we are to God's creation, the nearer we are to God.

Nature and music give me the joy to counteract the anxiety of the news. I just have to turn it off and get outside or listen to some of my music.
There are those who actively try to smother joy in others. It’s so sad to be that way, I think. Joy can be contagious.
My 3 grand daughters remind me that I am blessed. My children, my sister, my wife, my friends and neighbors and co workers. Everyday, even the really hard days, my relationships give me joy
A good friend, former and deceased pastor explained the “fruits of the spirit”, build on each other. We have love, then joy…peace and so on through each of the rest in the list which gets harder as you go. That is why self control is this last one.
I look for the channels that show how people are coming up with new ways to use the waste in the world, and self improvement channels. Your channel is also one of the ones that makes me think.
Thank you for these reminders. This election season is mentally draining and scary for everyone here in the U.S. Our future as a country is at stake this time. I think most people here are at a point of wanting to know what's going on but don't want to hear all the negatively every day. We need to turn towards God for our daily strength.

In music I often have to slow it down to "grok" the joy.
In my neighbor's front lawn there's a lavender bush. I smell its fragrant bouquet from afar. Just the other day, attracted by the scent, I walked over and stood watching the oh about 100 bees, as many flies, butterflies and an occasional dragon-fly doing their morning shopping. I am very thankful.
To cultivate is to nurture and help grow. Farmers cultivate crops, fundraising professionals cultivate donors, and celebrities cultivate their images. When you cultivate something, you work to make it better. Originally, the word referred only to crops that required tilling, but the meaning has widened.

Unresolved conflict steals our joy. Conflict will come but when we let it fester and turn into bitterness, prolonged anger, and resentment it prevents us from experiencing joy.

Almost everyday I find joy on Instagram as parents let me experience their utter joy from their children…young folks who have Downs Syndrome but are persons of grace for everyone else, young children who love their siblings, dads who blossom into such loving fathers … as indeed our Father has loved all of us. I’ve been thinking a lot about this ever since you brought it up at Wednesday’s CWW.
There’s a saying, “nature abhors a vacuum”. Meaning if there’s a void created, it will be filled by something else.
I think that we as humans run on emotions. Everything we think, everything we do, everything we say stems from emotions of some kind.
So if the above saying is true. Avoiding (creating a “void”… get it?) consuming things that provide negative emotions in us, like doom scrolling, or excess news, or culture war stuff for example. Means that our brains are going to fill itself and our time with something else.
The key is to be able to recognize when what we are consuming our time and minds with, in the moment, is providing negative feedback within ourselves.
And to tell ourselves with conviction “well that’s enough of that for today”, and to put it back on the shelf, so to speak, for another day. And then just sit with nothing for a bit. You’d be surprised at what “other things” our brains will come up with to fill that void you just created.
I’m not saying that that is going to find you joy. But it’s a good first step in the direction towards it.

Interesting. I always thought joy and happiness were interchangeable. Always an education. I live on my own from 1986 in the same house from 1972, and/but I was happy with that. Now I realise I am joyous with that. I am at peace with that. I am in love with that ... well that is probably going too far😁.

Since, in the past, I have sought and found joy, it is more a matter of reconnecting with it. Joy is inside, and there is a channel/conduit to it. "Intrinsic joy." I think one requirement is that one must first experience horrendous pain and darkness. (So for anyone who is there, hang on.... )
In late 1967, there was a song released by a duet called "Friend & Lover." The title "Reach Out of the Darkness." I hadn't heard it in ages -- but the words and comments drew it back out of the memory hole. Pretty groovy.
I don't know where to find my joy, depression anxiety low self esteem. I struggle to do things that i enjoy at all, and i haven't found a thing that intrinsically brings me joy.
@@bb1886 Did you already look for professional help? I would highly recommend that. There's also great CZcams psychologists out there, maybe as a first step. There's no shame in seeking help, depression is an illness just like a physical illness.You can find joy again, don't give up! 🙏🏻
One good CZcams psychologist who deals with severe depression and anxiety is Dr Scott Eilers. He went through severe depression himself, he knows what he's talking about. You can get help and things can change for you again! Don't give up! 🙏🏻

We all have had happenings in life that have caused negative emotions to surface.
The possibility of trump being re-elected is very scary.
Remember though, he lost last time by 7 million votes and that was before he became a felon.
Oppression can be used to build up some people for money. Love can be used in the same way. Money can't produce joy as love can.
When my children were little, I used to take them for rides and ask them to "look for God" everywhere, in nature, in people. I'm not sure they have been able to continue to seek that, though, as years and life have not been that kind to them since they're on the autism spectrum. :(
It makes me so sad for them because they have no joy in their lives. They have no friends, no family with 500 miles, and no real dreams or goals anymore and are just wasting their lives and no matter what I do, it doesn't help!

I find reading the Bible, fact checking statements, then just reflecting on the morals and beliefs I was raised to believe.
It separates the wheat from the chaf.
The bible is full of warnings.
The 10 commandments.
The beatitudes, proverbs, ecclesiastes.
I read them and things are very simple to discern.
Needless to say.
Certain people and parties would gladly crucify Jesus today.
I'm not happy saying it.
But, many proclaim themselves Christian.
Ironically, "god is in creation" is animism, which is the basis of paganism.
The Japanese have a saying: "The frog in the well doesn't know the ocean." Please ponder that.
There is a terrific baseball player from Japan by the name of Shohei Ohtani. His hometown is "Oshu" in the northern province of Iwate. While he was still unknown to the world outside Japan -- and playing Japanese pro ball -- his town gathered nearly 900 people to express joy to Pharrell Williams' song "Happy."

I found out later that the super-cute girl in the white dress is named "久慈" which means never-ending compassion. Two characters say so much.
There is a version of Happy that people of Halifax did too.... Really nice.

Please cover “Psalm 50: 16-20a”? It is exactly what needs to be said to every so called “maga Christian”. Also please make it clear the bible also says “those who willfully, deliberately keeps on sinning, that pathway if followed to its end will lead to a “fearful expectation of judgment”. Need to use the bible against them. Quit letting them use it against us.
