Words can't begin to describe the haunting beauty of this masterful track off this seminal album. I have lost count the number of times I've gone to sleep listening to this work of art. I'm not a great guitarist by any means, but, I've found that the songs from Kveldssanger so nice to play physically. There's a certain quality to their music which is so hard to pinpoint. Thanks for posting. Regards, H
I love this band. Every album is great in it's own standing. I remember hearing these guys in 94, for Nattens, and being blown away. And yes, being in the forest only makes black metal that much better.
i love your video..i think is so intense.. (at least for me)..i dont know why but it makes me feel this beautiful song much better.. always a couple of beautiful pictures can help to enjoy better some tunes ..
Very articulate, bluemoon flame. I'm not a 'black metal hater', it's actually one of my most well loved genres. However, I never understood why they occasionally have strange vocals (like the howling/chanting in this one) and the imagery they use. It's different, but effective (to the 'few' that bother to listen). Many merely dismiss it off the bat because of the supposed 'Anti-Christian' themes. While I admit it is a main proponent to black metal, there are many bands that aren't 'Satanic'...
It's quite customary for very talented individuals to hold their own creations under severe critique. Though most would agree that Kveldssanger is nothing of a failure, perhaps in the eyes of Garm it failed to achieve the heights of some fantastic ideal. Just a thought.
@xshaggothxx I've been looking for the lyrics on google, but everywhere i look they only have a quarter of the lyrics written down. Im still looking everywhere for the translated lyrics so I can finally know the meaning of this beautiful song
I think 'farar' is supposed to be some old form of 'farger' (colors)? "Ulvsblakk den gjenom luften i natten farar" "The pale wolf through the air in the colors of the night" I'm not scandinavian though, if someone has a better translation for the song please post.
this music is for people who want to listen something for your soul, for stay in calm state, who someone really wanna hear not popular music and knows there are more talent music unknow, for those who read this and if you are going to do a comment like boring, please dont waste your time and hear the music if you like it.
are these languages so similar tht you can easily understand each other? They look (i mean words) really similar but how is it going with pronounciation? is swedish closer to norwegian than danish or not? peace
Comments are an excuse for cruelty I agree! Focus on the music it is far more interesting than the random ravings of any nearly brain dead maniac that hides behind his keyboard.
Could you please write the lyrics for me, I can't find them on the internet, just some lines. I understand what they sing since I'm from Finland and I speak swedish, but I can't hear everything so I don't know what the lyrics are
As I understand it, this wonderful artwork was made by the independent artist "Tania Stene" she also made the artwork of Burzum, "Dauði Baldrs" and "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" there is not much information about it.

Wolves are so mystic and beautiful... this song is both, and the video is remarkable. The drawings chosen are very nice.
It's a struggle between this and Kledt i Nattens Farger for me, but an immortal masterpiece nonetheless.
+DarkflameAxel The whole album!
A jewel of song.....timeless....ULVER
I listened to Ulver's electronic music, then their rock, black metal and now this. I liked this the most!

Ulver'in sessiz tefekkürü bende o sürece yardımcı oldu
so beautiful
some people die 4 love...some people die 4 country... if Ulver ever wage a war - I'll die for them!
Una pareja de lobos encontrados en lo mas profundo de un bosque.... cada uno visualizándose el resto de sus días con quien le acompaña....
Visualización de plenitud, de calma, de vida....

Great song and great video tribute! Which program did you use?
Ulvsblakk er med
the first song is the best in my opinion, then this one.
I for one love the new shit. Bergtatt through Nattens Madrigal were all amazing albums though.

@Galgefrist Not sure about that Empyrium's stuff is pretty overwhelming too!
Music is a universal language, so any spoken or written language appearing in music is largely irrelevant.
Wow, some of these riffs, my friend created sound similar to them.
Does Ulver mean wolves? (Trough my danish experience)
Yes
Spektaculært \\666//
bless you!
(what should that be? ...)
ulver started out as black metal but kept moving forward. His art isn't is beyond any music genres.
4TH WALL Trve that
Clearly, everyone who has written a comment on this video so far must be a genius.
It can also mean "wolfpelt" in some sentences.
why are there so many people that think this is Black Metal?
Stop being a little bitch who gives a fuck what it is. It sounds good
+josh schaefer I know it sounds good. I am only stranged by people saying this is BM. And don't hate genres, they are useful.
+Helvete Ulver used to be black metal... Not anymore.
Its much about the texts.
cause black metal is not musical, but ideological
This is the beauty of true black metal... it can be anything from Mayhem to Diamanda Galas.
2 headed woof 2:06
It may not be black metal, but it sure has the same atmosphere of Bergtatt.

Does anyone know what "ulvsblakk" means? Please tell me, thank you in advance.
Wolf Black
True Black Metal
can someone write in the comments the lyrics translated in English please?
I think 'farar' is supposed to be some old form of 'farger' (colors)?
"Ulvsblakk den gjenom luften
i natten farar"
"The pale wolf through the air
in the colors of the night"
I'm not scandinavian though, if someone has a better translation for the song please post.
It is more likely an older or dialectical form of "farer", which is the same as in English; to travel. Like a way farer would.
Referring to my comment? That was actually sarcasm... "Broken English" works too :D
I doubt it. His creations are spontaneous. Just was coincident it sounded very similar.

Hey everybody! Check out my instrumental version! Ulver rules!
What's cool? I think it's weird to go out to forests merely to listen to black metal.
