I can understand people saying this is rubbish. It's not easy to listen, it doesn't follows standard music rules, it's weird... and to some lucky people who really understands... it's BEAUTIFUL!!! I remember buying La Masquerade Infernale and thinking "what the hell is this?!?!"... Then I had to settle up my mind and listened to it again, and once again... and finally I got into the masterpiece it is. And after that Arcturus kept doing great albums that will last for eternity!!
Yeah same here! After loving Aspera Hiems Symphonia I bought the masquerade and was disappointed and puzzled by its weirdness and after a few listening and getting accustomed I really loved it especially the weirdest one: Chaos Path which is as the title promised, very chaotic! ^_^
Totally truth! They need to be more famous to keep doing great music, unfortunately when a band become really famous change everything, see Dimmu Borgir case, just an example.
I loved this group. Dimmi Burgers kicked out the best rhythm section they ever had in Vortex and Mustis and it serves them right that they've fallen into obscurity in the us now.
mmmmh... I'd still say Bfuce Dickinson, or King Diamond. And we shouldn't forget Dio or Halford. They all have outstanding voices too (especially Bruce and King, to me)
Agreed, it’s criminal how underrated these guys are. They inspire me so hard when I’m writing, happiest accident five years ago when I first discovered them.
I remember listening to this album for the first time, years ago... "Woohoo" I said to myself "this stuff's weird, do I really like it?". Hell, I do. I did then and I do still. ;)
I love how Sverd Steinar has never been in the spotlight. He's probably one of the top 4 metal composers in Norway and you wouldn't be able to pick him out of a lineup. Dude needs a lot more recognition. Masquerade Infernale was maybe the best thing to come out of Norway in the nineties (besides perhaps Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk).
I just saw Arcturus live in Finland. It was a magical moment. There was art hippies and hipsters dancing around but at least it was easier to get closer the stage. They only had one guitarist but the show went perfectly.
Well, Wolf's Lair Abyss is the most brutal release that Mayhem has ever released :D It's EP from 1997.. You can find songs from here CZcams.. Songs are like: I Am Thy Labyrinth, Fall of Seraphs, Ancient Skin and Symbols of Bloodswords... That "album" kills every Mayhem-album in the brutalness imo :P Also, Grand Declaration of War and Chimera are great, too..

As much as I deeply love the way Arcturus sounds live with Vortex, I'd almost kill to hear them live with Garm because I've always wanted to see/watch something of him doing live that was metal.
The real fans know just who he is and what he's done, I don't think too much of the editing on this DVD either but I think it's still one of the best music DVD's ever recorded.
this is King- Finally someone bends the rules of metal music... not a little , but alot. I bought the Aspheia cd and thought " creative well made black metal" ... then bought the Masq. inf. cd... and sheesh was close to throw it after nearest old person i could see. but after a few listens, it all became clear - theese sods are truly amazing, and can really change your mood into and out of total Chaos- they write & sing in a toungue unknown.. they are truly gods.
For all of you who didn't noticed that the audio track is 0,5 seconds premating....... I uploaded the video with synchronous video and audio track!! watch?v=sg8IVN0XI8c Enjoy!!
Сорочка у него классная. В древнерусском стиле.)))) Vortex красава. Обожаю его голос. И музыка у этой группы очень необычная. Раньше никогда ее не слышал.
hehe i know stuff about hellhammer, a friend of mine remember when everybody dressed in black and tried to be as evil as posible he didnt care, always being himself, dressing in these training pants and sneakers, and was a realy nice guy
@ZuoLuoT Indeed, part of the show, arcturus look like themselves, and thats another thing to like about them, besides the music, thats just the most inspired I have ever seen, true musicians!!

This is a perfect masterpiece
Still a sick listen
Only music illiterate's would say this is rubbish.
@@sallybarnes2946Pretentious, pompous and ridiculous.
This band is sadly so underrated... :(
Why sadly? This way, mainstream demand can't fuck it up! Being nieche is good!
Totally truth! They need to be more famous to keep doing great music, unfortunately when a band become really famous change everything, see Dimmu Borgir case, just an example.
Yeah if it goes mainstream or even close, you know it sucks haha
It's my favourite band.
Back when they broke out the underground lapped them up. They were legit to everyone.
Not only do they change their reality, they change ours too. They are great artists.
I loved this group. Dimmi Burgers kicked out the best rhythm section they ever had in Vortex and Mustis and it serves them right that they've fallen into obscurity in the us now.
How can he sing so high??? Damn, he is a giant with a Tenor voice. For me he has the best voice in Metal.
mmmmh... I'd still say Bfuce Dickinson, or King Diamond. And we shouldn't forget Dio or Halford. They all have outstanding voices too (especially Bruce and King, to me)
Dio for me has the best voice in Metal but Dickinson, Halford... Mmm, no, their vocal range it's not so high.
I think I.C.S. VORTEX is the best one of all of them, cause he really sounds like a Tenor with singing education. It's my opinion.
Hey Martin Klaus O. Is Vortex the best one.
Ok
I need that red hat. It has confused me for years!
P4nzerk93 I have one exactly like it. Bought it at a thrift store for $2

@@lefterismandilas4903 Well well, eleven years passed and I STILL DO.
Damn, I'm not developing at all ;)
Don't care what anybody has to say about this band...... They kick ass & they are unique... This DVD shows just how good they are live...
They're not pretending to be different. It's called having fun and putting on a good show.
arcturus es una banda mamalona muy original y con mucha imaginacion en lo que hace la verdad una chingonada .
This is inspiration!..Hellhammer is probably the best drummer in the extreme metal scene

MrDaoJones debatable, what do you say about Covenant’s “Nexus Polaris”?
@@mrtrashguy5111 A classic album. Great even, but not as innovative at the time as the others I mentioned.
Vortex has one of the most impressive pitch and style ranges of any vocalist I've ever ever heard!

Arcturus at their best.. sick genius..
I haven't listen to this in for ever. This is still an amazing song and no one can change my mind about it!
No doubt these gentlemen have had alien contact.
His vocals undertook lots of effects while he was recording with Dimmu... Here you can truelly appreciate his talent! :)
THE BEST, the "u u u" part at the end is marvelous.
This dead orchestra
Play on instruments
Strung with the fibres
Of my mind
And skeletons dance
They have no voice
And no complaint
But I am still flesh
And will not serve
You vampire fools
Bringing you life
By invoking dead
I'm tired of telling stories
With this ghostvoice of mine
So you can say you don't
Believe in ghosts
You drink me animal
Wasted on my madness
Leaving me blank and empty
But tonight
I'm Houdini
Gonna kill my shadow
Penetrate your sanctum
See your loss
Through your eyes
And laugh as two
You not knowing why
And wanting to die
I remember my dad playing this CD for me all the time when I was like 4. The nostalgia is real!
I think this is kinda different, and that's why I like it! Really good!!!
What are you talking about? It gets better every moment.
