    Like Paul's review, but lack of maintenance cost and reliability, which is the exact selling point of being a Toyota. I know it's hard to find how reliable a new car is in a short review but there r some data online maybe Paul's team can do some digging on that.

    I hope this car soon to be sell in Indonesia, such a great compact car.
    You have nothing to worried, it has enough ground clearence, decent cabin space, compact machine that will bring you anywhere without thinking to much on when to fill the gas tank, good suspension, and it is a Toyota.

  • @YZJB
    @YZJB Před 2 lety +14

    What you said about the CVT is wrong. The hybrids don’t use the Direct-Shift CVT with the physical launch gear. They use an e-CVT which is basically two electric motors with a planetary gear set between them. Have a read about Toyota e-CVT and it’ll make more sense.
    Also it has torsion BEAM rear suspension not torsion bar. Very different things

There is a few accessories that you can get to make this car a little better. Such as arm rest and more.

    We have just started to receive our first 10 of 54 ordered. Replacing 2016 i30s. Safety/safety/safety/safety systems on the GXL Hybrids bought and the fuel savings and environment values. Our all do city and country work and boot is bigger and more height in boot to carry things. Simplicity to drive so no underestimation on how to drive it. Love them so far. Rear seat space is good for children or average sized adults. Yes the rear doors should open a bit more! And full auto LED headlights are fantastic. SOS button and accident callout as well seals the deal.

    K120 "Direct Shift" transmission (2018)
    Toyota brands the K120 as the “Direct Shift” CVT and includes a physical first gear (also known as a "launch gear") and nine additional simulated gears, for a total of 10. The launch gear is engaged when the car takes off from being stopped and transitions to the belt drive once the car picks up speed. The benefit of this system is that traditional CVTs tend to have low efficiency in lower gear ratios (creating a moment of sluggishness when starting from a stop).[1] Since the belts in this CVT are handling a more narrow band of gear ratios, belt angles and loads can be reduced, increasing shift speeds and offering a claimed 6% improvement in fuel efficiency.[2] Production began in October 2018.

    That transmission doesn't have the physical first gear. It's Toyota's E CVT, meaning that there are no belts at all, it's just one planetary gearset and an electric motor for translating the engine output. Kinda cool imo...

Just put a double usb adapter in the 12v socket for charging and then the car's fine. 👍🏼 I watch all your videos regardless of buying interests

    You really need a reviewer that is on the shorter end as well. My wife is 1.50, my daughter is 1.52, and they simply can't find a drivable seating position in most cars. We're getting a Yaris Cross because of this and the excellent fuel economy. We will be driving it in the city 99.99% of the time.

  • @tina2deadly
    @tina2deadly Před 2 lety +3

    I'm considering buying this car as I live in remote NT. I work in a remote community and I do a lot travel to Darwin. Mostly bitumen roads - not many dirt from where I am, but I do the big road trips. I did consider a RAV4 but bit out of my price range, so this and the C-HR are my choices.
    I've never brought a car, so I'm doing a lot of studying before I do. I know that I'm definitely getting a Toyota though as they're built for the Territory (well, they last longer than others in the NT), so definitely Toyota but I don't want a small car like a normal Yaris or Corrolla, so this or the C-HR.
    I know that it doesn't have a lot of features but that's okay - it's efficient for fuel, it's got boot space and the front of the car looks like it has space as I'm also on the plus side, so need a good car with space in the driver's seat.
    Still tossing up and still gonna keep doing research but this video has given me a lot to think about.

    • @GabrielA-nf7vz
      @GabrielA-nf7vz Před rokem

      What did you end up getting? I am also considering getting one of these - I do more inner city driving in Melb and some freeway driving so it may also fit my criteria. Safe travels.

      @GabrielA-nf7vz I got a Yaris Cross GXL, petrol, (bot hybrid) 2022 model and its black all over. I've had it since May of this year and I love it. The only thing that annoys me is that it beeps or warns you when you're too close to things - but I think you can turn that feature off. But it's a good car and it does well in the NT heat here. If you want a fast car, this wouldn't be it but if you want reliable and something that will get you from A to B, this is a good car. It does drive fast - like I've done 130km on the Stuart Hwy and it can go more but it's a good little car.

    Covid changed my holiday destinations towards domestic remote tours (so, it has shifted my next car target from hatchback to small/midsize SUV). However, Yaris Cross failed to impress me. It is expensive in comparison to Korean and other Asian competitors. The fuel efficiency is nice but the up-front hybrid cost requires a long payback period.

      Nah sits below it, the Corolla Cross should replace it, though from what I hear they’re keeping it around for god knows what reason.
      Having sat in a CHR, the exterior isn’t that small, much like a Corolla, yet the interior is cramped like a Yaris. Terrible use of space in the CHR.

    I bought this and it ticks every box. First, the car is fun to drive - I haven't had that experience for a long time. My take on the interior - not over designed, which I love. Hard surfaces aren't an issue to me at all - 'luxury' wood panelling is pretty hard - and I've never used centre arm rests. I don't take passengers in the rear apart from rare exceptions. If I want more USB connection I'm sure my friends at Toyota can come to the party with an aftermarket fitting, but for me, one is enough. My commute is 100k a day so I want economy and I want something a little greener whilst I wait for more EV charging infrastructure to become available, at which point I will jump to an EV. I want something I can take onto highways and the occasional dirt road so I ordered the AWD version. It may not be for everyone, but for my needs and my money, it's a goer.
