I went through this exercise in 2023. We bought the hatchback Yaris Hybrid in 2023 for my wife, the ZR (top of the range model, hybrid). So far so good but for $38K drive-away it is quite expensive for such a small car. But Yaris Cross Hybrid is even more expensive than Yaris Hatchback Hybrid and as a 2nd car we dont need the extra space. For both Yaris and Yaris Cross my only complaint so far is that both of them could really use more power and in Europe the same cars can be had with 10% more power/torque (130hp versus 115hp). Shame that Toyota does not bring the 130hp Yaris and Yaris Cross Hybrid models in Australia in 2024. Also the rear brakes on Yaris and Yaris Cross are drums (AFAIK) and I feel both of these cars could use better brakes too and all disks, no drums. The fuel economy is great, all you need in 91 RON regular unleaded and Yaris hatchback in city, suburbs and freeways uses about 3.8 litres per 100kmh with 1 or 2 passengers (I have seen 3.6 litres as lowest and 4.0 litres as highest, when fully loaded with 4 people and boot luggage, driving on highways and freeway, speeds of 80-110kmh).
I bought my Yaris Cross Hybrid last month, I love it! I love how unique it looks! Comfort and fun ride, most importantly is the amazing fuel consumption!
Which model is it?
@@scteja7274 Hybrid Z
This isn't the 2024 Yaris cross, the 2024 has an updated infotainment system and digital dash screen. Please review the new model or update the title of the video.
Thanks for the test! This is model 2023, not 2024. The new infotainment (2024) is much better also the noise reduction (thicker windshield etc.)
Thanks for sharing this real-world information
Does anyone know if the Yaris Cross is going to be available in the US at anytime?
How long will it be for the wait for Toyota Yaris Cross will be as I read it would very expected for 3-6 months
It will depend on the variant you're after. Toyota has limited stock of Yaris Cross GX and GXL available. If you're after a GR Sport or Urban wait times may vary from two months, up to a year depending in the vehicle. The brand has been making an effort to reduce wait times in Australia, so estimates may change.
For the money I think it is better to go one step higher and get Corolla cross or Honda HRV hybrid. Comparison of the above 2 will be useful
I pick cross but no money to buy it yet praying to save up
That Yaris hatch is the 2023 model. The 2024 models have been updated and improved.
Same with the Yaris Cross... Has larger media screen and new instrument cluster, better cameras and updated software and safety features.
Mazda 2 vs CX3?
This is 2023 model . 2024 is better .
May I ask where you found this improvement? I have been searching everywhere online for Yaris Cross GX Hybrid improvements over the 2023. Cheers🥂
@@horationelson57I'm getting the Yaris Cross, (Maybe end of March) and the dealer sent me info on Tech updates and price increase...

@@horationelson57 The new improvements will be a new stronger option for the engine, instead of 115hp you can now get 130hp, they have improved the screen size inside the car and they also did some work to reduce the outside noise when driving. They have also made improvements to the interior materials, thise changes will make the price of the car to go up a bit but overall these are some pretty solid improvements to be honest.
The hatch
I’m currently in Australia and your cars are cheap compared to the UK.
A quick Google search shows the average salary in 2023 in Australia was around $AUD 96k (but can vary by region), and $AUD 70k equivalent in the UK.
Toyota Yaris Cross GR Sport $AUD 41.4k, $AUD 56k UK. 😢
WTF that is 15k AUD more expensive.
@@ajseijuro7693 I'm not saying it's worth $15k, but the European version has wider body and rear disk brakes.
Rear drum brakes on our Japanese version are just fine for the weight of the car, and it's smaller size is a feature.
[Oops, I was talking about the hatch but I see you are talking about the Cross]
3:26 - Don't forget to put your p-plates on ;)
Hope BYD can bring the EV BYD Yuan UP to Australia soon.. The BYD Yuan Up is similar size to the Yaris Cross and selling in China for US$14000 (A$23000). Toyota cars are way way overpriced.
Small crossovers like the yaris cross are pointless
For me, the perfect type of car.
You don't have to mention the monopoly bunnings say hardware store instead.
definitely not the crossover. get that schnitzel out of here
They don't sell them in the US anymore must be junk
