Been driving my E400 coupé for 3 years now. Love it. Lease is up and I can’t part with it. It’s a keeper.
How can you talk about the e400 without mentioning the lack of a B pillar. Everything else was great but the lack of the B pillar is what sold it for me.
Yes, the car looks great. I also agree with MB's small/medium/large philosophy. The shock only suspension is fine, as I don't want to even know what it would cost to replace certain parts of the airbag suspension. Another also, the roads where I live in Central Texas are mostly flat, so no need for ultra flat roadholding. I just want a big, luxurious and fast coupe.

I really love watching auto reviews from MotoManTV because their videos have the best angle (camera on the backseat right side) which I can clearly see the host operating the vehicle; some of the auto reviews have the worst angle ever because all I can see is the face of the host instead of watching him driving the car. Kudos to MotoManTV! Keep up the good work.

This car design is just perfect. Two thumbs up. Love the rear lights better than the S550.
Spot on about the suspension!!!! I test drove one a month ago and loved the car, but the softer suspension held me back from buying it. I wanted something that I can dial in when I'm in the mood for a more performance oriented drive. I hear an AMG version of this car is coming!
Totally agreed with you, that the adaptive dampers should be standard.

Watch the autogeful review and that one has adjustable sport suspension with option on air or springs. I can only assume diff specs in Europe. Bring on the e50 coupe with 450hp
I had thought that the adjustable dampers and the four wheel drive systems were physically incompatible - not that I'm any kind of expert!
The thing about this car is: There is the C-class coupe available as 63 with the 4.0 liter V8 and then there is the S560/63 which they just updated so if there would be a 63 version of this car they would probably kill either the C class coupe or the S class coupe because there is not enough difference between the 3.
I mean what would you say if a customer would ask you what the difference between the E class coupe and the s class coupe is ?

I guess the 43 AMG version (if they make it for the Coupe) would be the best of both worlds, even though it will probably be at the 90-100k range with options included.

You asked, I like it, as it stands. But for another 2K, I would like the adjustable dampers suspension option. It’s a gorgeous car, and 2, 3 or even 4 years from now, with low miles and some depreciation, it will stack up as a compelling choice, even against modestly priced (30-50K) new cars. They stand the test of time.
And I agree, the 6 is perfect, perhaps with or without AMG “43” trim. Not a fan of the 4-cylinder in that size car. Paired with the 9 speed, ummh!!

Hi MM for this does this car have the latest COMMAND nav with the ‘big’ icons and if so has the Apple CarPlay integration improved ? Ie can you use CarPlay audio and Merc Nav Maps at same time ? Thanks
There is no nice way to say this: The Apple CarPlay integration in this car is abysmal. It is the similar to the one I talked about in this episode ( czcams.com/video/sTd29TiRy9U/video.html) only with a different screen. Here is another take on the Mercedes Apple CarPlay integration (czcams.com/video/rsBkxv-HW9k/video.html). Probably the worst integration I have seen which surprises me coming from Mercedes. Other than this fault, the car is beautifully engineered.

In my 2017 E300 I use Merc navigation and amazon music on carplay all the time.
Nav will drive you in circles and the dealer says “sorry, no fix”
i like the way Clarkson seperates head restraints from headrests. This one seems to have a head restraint- one more car in the driving department, not about feeling great in it.
i watch videos of people driving 10+ year old mercedes that were really expensive at the time and the one thing that everyone warns about with those cars is the adjustable suspension. maybe that's why they offer the conventional dampers. a re sale thing ? i dn just a thought.

I have been looking at the E400 Coupe for a very long time. Now I'm almost ready to buy. But MotoMan! I think you are absolutely right. I thinkThat This 400Is a Cadillac El Dorado! And so I have to re-examine if I want it or not. And what I am worried about is that a test driveI would be nowhere near long enough to make a decision--on the size the comfort and or sportiness.

I still need tautness, and that German precision. Had a brand new BMW 328 in 1995. Incredible. Is is taut like that? Is it smooth like that?
right slot it’s a great car with a lean more towards comfort than sport. It’s a jack of all trades. For instance today it’s raining here in Texas. My previous 911 I would’ve dreaded the ride home.
With this car it’s enjoyable.
A week ago it was perfect weather and I put down the windows and opened up pano sun roof. Enjoyed the spirited ride immensely.
This car is for mature grown people 39+
If you’re a street racer with Msports dreams def don’t get this car. An m4 will cost you less and deliver that german taut precision. This car is more along the lines of a six series coupe.

It is perplexing why MB doesn't offer adjustable dampers. Why offer optional AMG wheels and an AMG "line" option without making adjustable dampers available? None the less it is a nice car.
I wonder how reliable it is. For that kind of money not much more should be added for options.

There is no S65S only a S65 and the actual S65 model is currently not available as right-hand drive, only the S63. The new S63 also still uses the engine of the E63s as standart, but has no option to switch from AWD to RWD. I guess Mercedes thinks its unsuitable to drift a S-Class.
The hood seems to high off the ground in proportion to wheelsize. Too much metal above the wheels.
When you by a MB you get four tires and a steering wheel. The rest is extra.
Perfect exterior / interior colour combination. ( for me.) Difficult choice between this model and the S500 coupe. Some say rear space in the E400 is more useable than in the S500. Can this be true? Merry Christmas everyone! :-))

I believe Mercedes makes air suspension optional so as to not step on S-Class Coupe sales.
To add; they want the customer who is going to make this car fully loaded switch to the S.
this car is for the most important client mb has... the ladies who do lunch... its got more style than her red bottom shoes and she would rather arrive stirred not shaken. this car is for Mrs Doctor Huganflugan, that's also why it cost almost 90k because that what she would expect to pay. the profit margin on this car must be in the stratosphere.

Love the design but don’t like the Russian doll idea. Suits the E and the S but the C Coupé doesn’t look quite right to my eyes. An E class should come with a 6 cylinder minimum too with a V8 option. And yes at its price point who would care if it were slightly more but came with adaptive air suspension

I’m not liking the nickel and dimeing from the German cars. They actually wanted $300 for Apple play on my 7 series. And extra for M rims on top of the M package just like the AMG rims above the AMG package.
Sadly this car still has two 3cylinder engines under the hood, not the new m256.

You are right about costs, no different than people with bad credit pay higher interest rates that is hard to afford repayments, vs people with good credit that can afford a higher interest rates. It's really about laughing in peoples face to say "I'm better than you".

I don't understand what the confusion here is... The dynamic select toggle is clearly visible on the right side of the center console. Maybe he means the air suspension is not included in base price..? Very confusing presentation on this matter that is considered as cardinal in this video yet a common knowledge among anyone who has sat in a newish MB.

My last car was emerald green, really dark but green in the sun light, looked great, twat to keep clean. My late at car is Bohemian purple. I said I'd not get a deep colour again after the green one, but I did.
Given my job and where it lives I should of got a 'normal' colour.

I am not fan of white or light colored interiors (except on a retromod classic Chevelle in Laguna Blue with white racing stripes). However this green is Excalibur worthy,and it rolls over the Mercedes frame like the hills of Dover.

Came here to see some insight into the technology of the car, and instead we get a rant about how fast power should be delivered while taking corners 3 times the speed that anyone buying a Mercedes or BMW or Audi or something similar would be going. And all that time wasting making videos lasting 15+ mins - you can cut a third of that time by just focusing on the essentials, and not blabbing like a housewife.

To me Mercedes has lost the plot. V8 AMG SUV's but a mid size coupe with no V8 option at all. For me I'll manage Mercedes expectations by saying no thanks. Give me an E550 Coupe and I'll be back but at the moment they've abandoned the sweet spot between the awesome but hard core c63 and the too big and soft S500.

Always the same song with you american reviewers. This is not a sports car but for travel in style and comfort (and reasonable mpg as well). Even the 2L 4 cylinder is good enough for that but only seem to count horse power like a noob camera buyer counting mega pixels. Absolutely laughable. Besides what happend to land of the free ? Look at he back of car. Ruined. And the yellow plastics we have on our children’s bicycle and thankfully not on our cars.
I Spec'ed out the same E class 4 matic 2 door variant and "mine" cost $10K less with the air suspension included! Sadly, we in the states are stuck with the AMG "lite" models of the E class the GL class and don't ever consider getting a S class with the lovely 6 cylinder diesel! Canada, indeed the rest of the planet get all the standard 400 series of these models, yet we in the states are saddled with the 4 cylinders! Personally, it's a purely a matter of greed to/for the consumers in the states! In Canada you can buy a GLE 400 4 matic. In the states? Forget it pal! The most glaring issue to me being a owner of a older 80 S class in that "I" can't buy the wonderful S class with the fantastic 6 cylinder diesel and 4 matic! U basturds! BTW..I still wish to buy a "new" S class with the 6 cylinder diesel, but must buy a used one from Canada for that to happen, and it will happen Mercedes!

Design? No, as a Mercedes owner I do not like this car. Especially the front. Who needs all these (fake) air intakes in the front skirt (looks like Darth Vader's helmet)? And it has not the Mercedes grill anymore, no standing star on top... It could be anything but a Mercedes.
Michael Myers coupes or AMG models don’t get the standing star. Seems a Merc owner would know that.
But it has a 10 foot diameter logo on the grille....just so you don’t confuse it with a Kia
