    I just saw one of these on the road yesterday and it was spectacular. The interplay between the light filtering through the black oak trees and smooth curves of the vehicles flanks, was almost musical. I love coupes. The engine from the E63AMG would be better suited for this vehicle : power and beauty ( like a supermodel martial artist)!

    I had the exact dilemma 3 months ago. I live in Wisconsin and the choices were: 2017 F150 Raptor, MB E400 4 matic coupe, 2018 Audi S5 and BMW M550i X drive. In the end, I chose the Audi mainly for cost and most bang for the Buck and I’ve had all 4 German luxury brands. This my 3rd audi and I currently have a 2012 991, 2013 A5 that is my oldest sons car and GLC350 2016 that is my wife’s car. As you can tell, I like German cars.

    Great review. Just a point of clarification: the wheels on the car you tested are not 18”....they’re part of the 19” AMG sport wheel package.

    Hi Motoman. I think this car is Gorgeous! Only problem is I've got 2 young adults and It's unfortunately for me not a practical alternative at this point in my life. I now drive a 2014 Mercedes ML 350 and thinking still need something with 4 doors and some utility like a Porsche Cayenne which you just recently reviewed and I love! Thanks for the great reviews and love the channel!!

    I own this e400 for 2 months now and line did come with adjustable dampers. With sticker price 64450 with p1 package and saddle brown interior . Totally agree with u . This should be the engine on the sedan as well . I had the 2017 e300 and was very disappointed with engine

    I’m actually buying one. I had an Audi A5, it was good but I see to many Audi cars. I feel that Mercedes have made a big step in design and when I sat in it at the dealer ship I was very impressed. Knowing I had just sat in a bmw a few hours before. It seems that they aren’t in the same century. I’m from France .

    Audi S5, personally think it looks so much better(vicious) than the Mercedes E400, little bit more power and a little bit more techy. I prefer Audi interior at this expense level. Would go with Mercedes S coupe any day if budget is around 90k+. So yeah Audi S5 is my choice for 60-80k range.

    Good stuff! Looking forward to part 2. This car has caught my eye while getting my 2016 C300 4M sedan washed and have been waiting for an in depth independent review. You are correct that there is a lot at this price point. Even within the mark itself... for example; C43 Sedan, vs C43 Coupe vs e400 sedan vs e400 coupe vs even an GLC 43...on and on. Throw in the other germans and i'm a even more of a confused mess. Although its in a higher price range, i'm still sick over the new Panamera 4S. Told you... issues! In short, give me something german, sport/lux with AWD and its the perfect daily here in the Tri-State. (Cincinnati, OH / Northern Kentucky)

    What a beautiful car. That said, I'm more a fan of sports coupes as opposed to big, luxury coupes. I save the luxury for my sedans... Thus, I'd be more tempted to buy a Porsche Cayman S at this price (or even a used 911) with a manual transmission. Complementing the sports car could be an E-class Mercedes sedan... (A little lighter on the budget, but I drive a 996 Porsche 911 now and an Infiniti G37X-S sedan.)

    What happens to a dream deferred? The best competition for the Merc would be , in order, the concept Cadillac and the concept Hyundai Vision G coupe you reviewed at Pebble beach. In this segment, there are no coupes that really fit in a side by side comparison . Unless you want to include the Lexus LC 500, which has a higher price point. The ATS isn't up to that level of refinent or elegance in design and the M4 is boy racer by comparison . So that leaves the Jag, and I loath to say I would pick that tired, mewling alley cat.

      Light Yagami if they used more carbon, aluminium it would be lighter and stronger. Jaguar XJ from 2004-2009, which is a full size sedan, started at 3300 pounds. But aluminium would be more expensive.

    • @Speednote10
      @Speednote10 Před 6 lety +3

      I think you are very mistaken about the 2004 Jag XJ weighing 3300 pounds. I've looked at 3 sources and they range from 3699-3800+ pounds.
      As for the E400, there really is no reason for Mercedes to make this car lighter. It would help a bit with fuel consumption but that's hardly a priority for this type of car to begin with anyway.
      It's a very big car and on top of that it's a luxury car. Luxury = weight. It's got thick glass, tons of sound insulation, heated+cooled+massaging seats, all the safety and driver aids etcetc. The weight piles on pretty fast when you've got all the bells and whistles.
