Amazing how a song can take you back to happy times . 15 and carefree . Hanging out with all your mates , fancying the girls at school , going to school discos Friday night and slow dances , the friends you had ,the music , the clothes , no worries in the world . Now we are getting older and friends and people who you know have passed away and gone at such young ages . Life is cruel . I’d go back in a flash albeit for just a while . Thank god for memories

This is beyond true. I mean, literally every person says this on every video about the 80's or 90's. It's true. I was there for the 90's. I now know I wasn't just being a stupid idealistic kid. Times truly were better then. Adults as well as children were happier back then. We're so disconnected these days. It's sickening. A tragedy.

Im 49 now - I have such great memories of listening to Top Of The Pops all through the 80s - so so many great acts - and they could sing live and perform. I know this is mimed - but they could sing live - you only have to look now at the revival festivals now - Go West, Kenny Thomas, Roachford, Level 42 - such a beautiful decade for music

Google says this was a hit in 1986. WRONG. I was 23 in 1985 and I clearly remember it in the charts NOVEMBER 1985.

This song was written by Todd Rundgren in the 80's. It is a beautiful song. They did a great job singing this.

Utopia's drummer John "Willie" Wilcox wrote the song, while Rundgren wrote the melody and the lyrics, and the song was credited to the band as a whole. Here's what he wrote on his CZcams channel:
_"Todd lent me his 16 track Stevens machine. I was living in Norwalk, Connecticut. We all were writing for the next Utopia record which would become the POV album. I wrote and recorded this song playing keyboards, bass and drums. I wanted to compose a piece of music for Utopia that was a classic ballad that gave Todd an opportunity to do what he does so well which is sing his ballads. He did a great job with the lyrics, melodies and singing and the result is the song as it is today, "Mated.""_
