The results of dozens of myths is something people often get wrong. To the point where it might equate to the Mandela effect. Just recently someone left a comment on a video demonstrating phone book friction. With some light paraphrasing they said "Mythbusters had to use two tanks. And even then, it ripped at the spine, and pages went everywhere'' Which I was 100% sure didn't happen. So I went and found the clip, and replied to the comment with the link. To which they said something like "Wow...I'm so confused. I have a vivid memory of that scene happening.''
Other misremembered results include Break Step Bridge, Pennies thrown from the empire state building, Beating the breathalyzer, Beating the Bloodhound, Motorcycle vs Car eco friendly, Sprinter vs F1 driver, bullet deflection using magnets, ice bullet and tons more, but I'm tired of typing. But yeah, people say inaccurate things all the time, and follow it with ''Yeah, mythbusters did an episode on it.''

One misconception people have been spreading for quite a while now is that Adam and Jaime hate each other, based on them not being friends and clashing over things, but Adam himself has clarified that while they weren't friends and did annoy the crap out of each other, that they do respect each other and did have fun working together. Of all the youTubers, this man has a talent that transcends his subject-matter, and has nothing to do with the fabrication of gadgets and gizmos and his work with Mythbusters.
He has a way with _words_ : their sounds and tapestry of meanings. He has a natural art of cadence and intonation and allusion. I have heard very few people like him _anywhere_ and that includes some very bright and articulate profs when I was in college.
Where does this come from? He was a set-designer, a maker and toiler with his hands; he has a ruler etched into his very arm. He isn't a member of the literati, he isn't a poet. And yet the stream of unscripted extemporized and finely modulated prose meanders from topic to topic without the slightest apparent exertion or exhaustion.

When Adam talks about having a rough day after being out of the shop, this resonates with me. As a software developer, I feel anxiety the day I get back to the office after vacation or even some weekends because I want so much to get all of the things done but that is simply not possible. It leads to not wanting to take time for myself and tends to start a negative feedback loop which has taken me nearly all of my career to figure out coping skills to deal with.

That description of "I was bouncing around and I kinda sorta had to suffer through the day never feeling like I was getting ahead of something", super fricken relatable. If I could change one thing about myself, it would be "be faster at realizing that my brain is all over the place". Just realizing the state that my brain is in, as it's happening in real time would be a huge super power.
Another reflection: When Adam said "and then I'll wait for another idea to come along that I'll get excited about". That's really the ADHD super power, right there. Powerful motivation, nearly as if it were your life's purpose, to get that thing done. Not only motivation, but hyperfocus, learning things quickly when you're in that mood. If I could find the magic formula to get that feeling for every task that needs doing, I'd be a much better place (physically, mentally and financially).

Nah, biggest one is believing they just ended the show; Kari demanding a pay increase of 2x or she'd refuse to come back was the reason the build team was let go, which ultimately caused Adam and Jamie to call it quits before the PR backlash and "sexism" accusations caused a media firestorm.. That's why in the very last episode when they were sitting around the table, Adam eye-balled Kari specifically when he said "thank you for being willing to come back and sit here"

The fact that Adam continues to talk about how his own disabilities affect him, and how he tries to overcome them is refreshing. I am in a similar but not exact head space that Adam discusses on his videos. We're not privy to his actual home life, nor should we be, but the fact that he continues to put on camera his struggle and how he's dealing should be commended and pointed out. I also have ADHD and gear shifting has been a bit of a problem for me as well. I also play a lot of video games so I've developed a coping mechanism based on that. I have a manufacturing job so I may perform the same set of motions anywhere up to a thousand times per day. If I'm needed to switch gears at any point I know that "This is my job, I'm getting paid to do this even if it interrupts my workflow." So I create mental checkpoints. I finish a cycle of whatever it is I'm doing. I would also compare it to finishing a paragraph or chapter of a book when reading. Decide for yourself a good place to stop that is easy to pick back up.

One of my big issues at work has always been dealing with people who want to try to solve all the worlds problems all at once (this especially applies to software developers), rather than recognizing the things that they CAN take charge over instead of getting depressed over all the things that are beyond them to deal with or so frustrated with the overwhelming size of it all that they found it difficult to do *anything*. So trying to keep people practical and focused was a big issue for such people. You can to, from time to time, take them aside and pull them back down to earth, give them a narrow focus, and let them go. Adam's Monday story reminds me a lot of those people.

As someone also with a mild (is it, though? 🤔) form of ADHD, and doing a PhD interspersed with lots of smaller projects in between, I completely feel Adam’s comments regarding return, control, etc. And here’s the thing: while I love the theoretical aspect of things, getting into a state of flow when it comes to reading and writing feels *much* harder than when it comes to making, especially if we’re talking completely unrelated or, at the very best, work-adjacent stuff, active-procrastination-style. 😅
Case in point: this summer I had heaps of fun adapting an existing draftsman’s table chair base in order to graft an IKEA chair on top of it (I needed something with armrests to avoid getting a bad case of RSI while writing my thesis), which took me about three weeks because my tools were crap and my knowledge lacking, whereas when it comes to my main project, I have an easier time with smaller, non-core tasks.

One misconception I had to understand as I grew older was that Mythbusters was intended to be demonstrative, not scientifically rigorous and thorough. It was intended to explore things at a more or less cursory level to instill intrigue and scientific curiosity, not necessarily to give a definitive answer to the questions being addressed.
For example, there was a B-team myth about airplanes rattling nails loose from a old building, but the only test was pointing a loud speaker at a nailed joint and calling it a day, when the myth was about a building that was years old with planes flying overhead multiple times per day.
