This woman is a hero
A very brave woman to speak out against ‘the system’. If all of her allegations are true, it is more concerning that the most vulnerable in our society are not being cared for in ways they should 😢
im so glad someone has taken them on.. my dad was in Altnagalvin for 12 weeks back in 2022 and ive witnessed everything that she said happen one day i walked in on a “carer” worker lecturing my dad on how he told him not to get out of bed even though my dad had dementia when i challenged him on it he sent the sister down to me and her response wasn’t much better than his..one day i walked in and my dad was restrained by a table jammed under the seat he was sitting in and against the locker. he was back in again had a feeding tube up his nose a tea person came in luckily i was there asked did he want tea he said yes would he like a biscuit he said yes at no time did she look at the notice on the door were it said nil by mouth when i confronted her about it you would of thought i was at fault.needless to say we couldn’t wait to get him out.. when he got home he said to us never ring an ambulance for him again but unfortunately we did have to and he passed away but fortunately on a different ward.. good luck for September i hope to god more people speak up.
Jesus. Horrendous. It's widespread. We must unite against these demons.
My granny also had Alzheimer's and was let down by altnagelvin hospital. They never listened to my mum and left the barriers down on the side of her bed and left her unattended, of course she fell out of the bed and banged her head, not long after that fall she died. Total negligence, and this was 24 years ago, not recent. I still remember she had that bump on her forehead at her wake. My mum never got so much as an apology from any one at the hospital
i have no doubt if they were to make people aware there was an investigation going on they would be in undated with similar stories shocking…
Spot on. Wishing you success in September.
Thank you x
Great job by the interviewers, asking the difficult questions aswell
Agreed. I owe Bear & Scully a debt of gratitude 😊
SAve Our Acute Hospital. checking in. We have battled to save our acute hospital now for 18 months... and we will see it stabilised and staffed safely for our population,
FAIR PLAY 2 THAT LADY 4 SPEAKIN OUT AGAINST THE HIGHER POWER ,, 2 EXSPOSE THE NEGLIGENCE IN HEALTH CARE WE ALL DEPEND ON THIS SERVICE AN NEGLECT HAS NO PLACE IN IT ,, IT'S HEALTH CARE NOT HEALTH DON'T CARE ,, IT'S A PITY THERE WASN MORE LIKE HER ,, WISH HER THE BEST 4 HER CASE WITH THE TRIBUNAL ,,
I've been suicidal in the past and unfortunately had my care managed by the western trust. Their crisis system is a disaster and dehumanizing, at one stage after being treated in resus, I was brought to grangewood only to be discharged within a few hours to go home and make another attempt. They don't care, patients are treated like cattle just to be processed. Those responsible for patients care face no consequences for breaching their duty of care. I eventually had to pay thousands privately to get mental health care because I couldn't depend on the western trust. The Dept of Health and the Trust cut their bed capacity by 50% in the 2010s despite rising demand for services and record high suicide rates. Professionals on the frontline have just become totally numb to the people they deal with, if management doesn't care, why should they? There are hundreds of people who have similar experiences with the system, some of them not able to ever speak about it because they were successful in ending their life.
Jesus. It's horrendous. It's not just one or two people. It's thousands.
Inspire and mental have paid advocates whose role it is, is to speak on behalf of those with disabilities and or mental health.
Which is sickening because they don't, or, if they do, they know it falls on deaf ears . These people are chummy with the pay source. SICKENING.
It's like the victims sector. A few groups which has a small percentage of the victims population accessing it controls all the decisions.
Exactly
Another woman soon to join her as.a. Nii supported assembly whistle blowing on belfast. Trust 09 to present day corrupt activity..dda act aug 21 malafeasance act dec 22
cruelity act...welfare negligence ongoing to downs deaf son .
I worked in these charities and I must disagree with how the interviewers stance. The systems are corrupt. The charities role is to keep the sector I check as is government.
I agree. Their PR claims to be the voice of the learning disabled & mentally unwell. Yet when's the last article or podcast where they EVER criticized the state? Doesn't exist. £150k ish salary to stay silent. And keep people suffering, dying, in despair.
Joan sounds like a professional whinger, envious of people in power and their good salaries
Yeah, better to let "people in power" lie, steal & abuse . Much better.
Everything she's says is true. Most workers on the ground would agree whole heartedly with her, its upper management that are the issue, the decision makers, and then middle management are scared to speak out!
Do you realise how your comments come across? I pray for you and hope mental health never touches you or your family.
Just like Alan Bate’s, speaking up about the oppressors and those on huge salaries protecting their own interests whilst vulnerable people die, went to prison, lost their livelihoods, you seem to be blinkered, wonder why that is?
Stand in those female .shoes first..
