Well, of course we watched this whole wonderful video. You guys are absolutely heart warming. Bless your hearts. You might remember me. I designed many of your Florida license plates. They bring in much needed revenue for saving places and for all sorts of things. I designed license plates from Alaska to Illinois, to Vermont, to New Jersey and Florida, and many more. I curved the writing on the your plates too. It's a bit different, but it worked out well. Like when I drew Abraham Lincoln's portrait on the Illinois plates, I wrote "Illinois in quill pen." I was the very last person to do artwork for Jackie Onassis. I met her a few times in Manhattan. I gave John-John, (John F. Kennedy Jr.) A poster picture of me with the Governor. He told me he was so appreciative for me cheering up his mom. Anyway, thank you for this video. My dear husband, of 40+ years, watched the whole thing on our huge flat screen TV. Felt almost as good as being there again. We were there visiting my mother-in-law, who lived in the Villages for a long time. She just passed away last year. We visited my sister there as well. There's just too much to tell. Oh. I also, in the 1970s, drew for Sophia Loren, and Loren Bacall. I'm in my 70s now. Had heart surgery and my gallbladder removed. My husband had to give up living in the Villages due to his epilepsy. Seems his epileptologist told us the Florida sun is just too strong for him. That makes me sad but I want him to stay well. God bless and thank you again.

I know I’m late to the game… this video is now 2 years old, but this is by far my favorite video to watch while I’m stuck in my office working. Very relaxing, and scenery is enjoyable. Wow! I just love the homes in Spanish Springs with the carports, window awnings and shutters. The curb appeal of the homes doesn't involve seeing multiple garage doors first! Everything looks so 60s and 70s...traveling through time in a golf cart! The town square is beautiful - so many shops. The cart trails are magnificent! Thank you so much for the tour! (my hubby & I are considering a move to the Villages so we've been binging your videos - in no particular order LOL!)
Great video, sorry to hear about Jerry's father passing. I lost my father at age 16, 45 years ago, but so happy to be here for my wife's and our three sons.
The first time we visited The Villages was back in the early 90’s when only the development north of 441 existed. We were not impressed with the homes so we eliminated The Villages from consideration when we retired in 2007. We retired to Brevard, North Carolina. We decided we wanted to move back to Florida, and visited The Villages in September 2020. We could not believe what we saw! What a change! So we bought our current home in Hillsborough. Now we wish, we had moved here sooner!
We had the same experience, Judith. Back in 1996 or so. Weren't impressed with the homes and weren't ready to play only nine-hole executive type golf courses. But the newer areas are so beautiful and the whole place is just amazing. Too bad we couldn't see into the future back then.
I am still with you Jerry & Linda. I watched to the end because I knew about the Villages, but I was raised and always lived in Daytona Beach, so I'm just along for the views.
My husband and I did an Open House visit several years ago on the Historic Side. Don't let the outside fool you. Yes some of the houses do look like double wide mobile homes. When you get inside it is beautiful! Previous owners had completely redone these homes. Upgraded kitchens with stainless steel refrigerator, pull out cabinet drawers, etc. Exceptional lighting fixtures. Beautiful carpeting even great flooring. If you can get a Turn Key house it would be a great find. You can also get site built homes but those would be more expensive but the advantage of no bond might make up that difference. Also I think everything is all electric ....no gas appliances.
I didn’t realize that I could add a comment until you mentioned it in the video! Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your videos and tours of the different villages and neighborhoods. I’m not quite sure yet what the difference is between a neighborhood and a village, but my guess would be that within the villages there are different neighborhoods. I am recently retired and in the beginning stages of thinking about a warmer climate for at least part of the year. I have watched many of your videos, and I’m loving it! My wife's parents use to live in Orange Blossom on Kiley Ct. 2 houses from the golf club and pool on the hill. We always loved going there in the summer and winter. All the pools were always great and well maintained. Thank you for taking us on the tour of the old area. We enjoy all your informative videos and Gizmo is such a cutie, happy 13th birthday. We love living in the northern section for multiple reasons but mostly because its more quiet and less traffic in our area. Our home was built in 2001. We purchased in 2019 after our Lifestyle visit in 2018. 💕👏💗

Interning tour and welcome to the Historical side or as we call it the Hysterical side of the Villages. We live in Country Club Hills, one of the three Villages over here. We are different than most of the Villages - many people call us trailer-trash, and maybe we are, but we like it. We don’t have the big expensive houses of a lot of other Villages - well actually with the housing boom, maybe we do. Lol! But we are different than all the other Villages. We are not a CDD. Never have been. So we have never had bonds over here, and we don’t have any maintenance fees. The VCCDD takes care of all our common areas, Rec Centers and amenities. We have the nicest country club in the Villages with the nicest pool with waterfall and hot tub. Actually, we have two hot tubs and considering there are only three hot tubs in the Villages, that’s nice. And our pools stay open until 11 pm cos we have pool lights. We also have golf cart access to the most and best diversified shopping in all of the Villages (Southern Trace comes in second) cos we also now have BJ’s. Spanish Springs is our town square and it’s 4 minutes away. Many people won’t come over the bridge as you guys did, and that is fine with us. We figure we’re the best kept secret in the Villages.
Loved every second of this( as we do every carting video). My parents first bought in the historic side in 2007 & moved to Polo Ridge in 2010. We have very fond memories of those days! Thanks again! Keeps us Villagers hopefuls going on cool, rainy days of April in New Jersey!
Thank you for taking us to the Historic side! My parents held their lot for 2 years before building their 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 car garage on Kiley Court. They had a happy retirement and made many new friends, met Mr Schwatz. I even met Mr. Schwartz! My dad, being a real estate man from NW Indiana, had nice conversations with him. I spent a lot of time there - my children loved the OB Country Club pool. There is a brick with my dad's name on it at Veterans Park. Wonderful memories! My parents are interred at North Lake Presbyterian Church so my kids and I still visit often but it's bitter sweet! Again - thank you!

Here ya go! LINDA'S MEATLOAF CANDY (That's what Jerry calls it😁) 1 1/4 lbs ground beef or chuck 1 medium onion chopped 1/2 tsp. Salt 1/4 tsp. Pepper 1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce 1 tsp. Soy sauce 1 Tbsp A-1 steak sauce 1 Tbsp BBQ sauce 1 tsp. mustard 1 egg 1/2 sleeve of Town House crackers or Ritz TOPPING: 1/3 Cup Ketchup 3 Tbsp brown sugar Mix all ingredients. ( except topping) in a large bowl. Mold into a loaf. Mix ketchup and brown sugar to coat over the top of the loaf. The sauce goes on before putting it in the oven. Bake in a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish for 1 hour at 350°. (sometimes I add 1/2 stalk of finely chopped celery and or a packet of dry Lipton onion soup mix). Let it stand for 10 minutes or so. Enjoy!😋 Linda

Loved this tour through the Historic side of The Villages. I have done 2 short term rentals on the Historic side. I would not hesitate to buy a home there. No bonds on homes in those Villages. Some of the homes are site built and are less than 6 years old. Thanks Jerry and Linda!

I spent a lot of time there - my children loved the OB Country Club pool. There is a brick with my dad's name on it at Veterans Park. Wonderful memories! My parents are interred at North Lake Presbyterian Church so my kids and I still visit often but it's bitter sweet! Again - thank you!

LINDA'S MEATLOAF CANDY
(That's what Jerry calls it😁)
1 1/4 lbs ground beef or chuck
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp. Soy sauce
1 Tbsp A-1 steak sauce
1 Tbsp BBQ sauce
1 tsp. mustard
1 egg
1/2 sleeve of Town House crackers or Ritz
TOPPING:
1/3 Cup Ketchup
3 Tbsp brown sugar
Mix all ingredients. ( except topping) in a large bowl.
Mold into a loaf.
Mix ketchup and brown sugar to coat over the top of the loaf. The sauce goes on before putting it in the oven.
Bake in a 1 1/2 qt. baking dish for 1 hour at 350°.
(sometimes I add 1/2 stalk of finely chopped celery and or a packet of dry Lipton onion soup mix).
Let it stand for 10 minutes or so.

Loved this tour through the Historic side of The Villages. I have done 2 short term rentals on the Historic side. I would not hesitate to buy a home there. No bonds on homes in those Villages. Some of the homes are site built and are less than 6 years old. Thanks Jerry and Linda!
