  • Hello friends, thanks for checking out Sawyer Squeeze cleaning/backflushing Tips and Tricks. In this video I demonstrate How the Sawyer Squeeze backflush process works in 4 different ways. 1. With the Sawyer cleaning plunger. 2. With a CNOC Vecto or Smart water Bottle and a Sawyer Cleaning Coupling. 3. With Smart Water bottle and Sport cap. 4. Using the Sawyer tap filter adaptors. You just need to remember to backflush sawyer water filter often.
If you are looking for the best water filter the Sawyer Squeeze is a Legend. It is a Hiking Water filter, Backpacking Water Filter, have it as part of your Hunting Gear, Survival Gear or in your emergency preparedness preps like your Bug out Bag. I believe that the Sawyer water filter fits the bill. I love the simplicity of the Sawyer Squeeze and the Versatility. Also, it can be used with a number of bottles and bags, and it can also be set up as a gravity system. We all want clean drinking water, especially in an Emergency Disaster. This water filter is a great survival tool to have on hand when that boil alert comes in. This is an excellent product to add to your emergency preparedness or disaster preparedness plan. Filter and little blue coupler fit on to garden hose tap. No need for all the other parts.

I would not recommend the water tap method. Most city water has between 55-75 psi pressure that can damage the Sawyer. You would need some kind of pressure regulator to do so safely.

Yeah but how do I get all of the water out of the filter so it doesn’t mold????

Blow/shake as much water out of it as you can.
Then mix a solution of about 1 tablespoon of plain bleach to a cup of water and push that through the filter like you were filtering dirty water.
Shake/blow as much of that out as you can, then stand it up to drain/dry for a couple of days.
Been using this method to store my Sawyer over the winters for about the last 5 years or so. Still works like brand new.
One thing though: the first time you use it afterwards, run a couple of pints of clean water through it to chase out any leftover bleach residue. It won’t hurt you, but tastes like swimming pool...yuck!

They say your should tap the filter in your palm and do the procedure again. This will get a lot more dirt out.
