Kanami's solo here always makes me break out in a super wide smile. She's so cool.
Great solo 🤘🏻
This song is a classic example of their songwriting/arranging genius. As usual, instrumentals during 2nd verse totally different. Akane is SO inventive with her varying and unusual patterns on the drums throughout the whole song, the "two part" guitar solo is just awesome, and the way the guitar solo drops off a cliff into a gorgeous vocal harmony ("take me far away...") - and best of all, the way the "far away" melody is reintroduced during the last part - but this time over the top of yet more Kanami guitar solo - almost bringing together all of the thematic material at once - and finally culminating in that final power chord outro that says to me "so how the hell did you like THAT!?"
Great insights Kevin, thanks for sharing! Fantastic song 🤘🏻
What an excellent comment. That's why i ❤ the Maidiacs so much. He says in a gruff manly way :)
This is their song that I first thought how can anyone see this video and not realize that Band Maid is the best new band on the planet. Period. Blooming is killer in so many ways.
Fantastic song 🤘🏻
Great reaction. One of my favorite Band-Maid songs. Great arrangement. They never disappoint us. Thank you for this reaction.
Thanks John, glad you enjoyed :)
This, for me, is just a perfect song, from the first to the very last note.
It is everything I want from a rock song.
Hard to disagree 🤘🏻
This, along with Rinne, was the most natural, free flowing songs by BAND-MAID. Even though I had never heard them before they seemed "familiar" in a way. As you say, just perfect songs.
@@patron40silver SVC said something like 'That old familiar riff you've never heard before.' Wish I could remember which vid he was reacting to.
Usually hate Mondays. But, MAID Mondays makes it more tolerable. Thanks GG
My pleasure Xagor, glad you enjoyed 😁
Cheer up, X. Every day can be MAID Monday if you try hard enough.
The lengthier solos just proves that we will always be left wanting more. Mission accomplished.
That's so true Paul 😂
You just main-lined the BAND-MAID gateway drug!
If you weren't addicted for a lifetime before... you are now. ;-)
I think I was, but now it's even more for sure 😁
This is Kanami's homework track. She asked the rest of the members to write something for this song and then somehow managed to combine it all into this wonderful track. I know Miku wrote the harmony after the first solo, but not what any of the others contributed. As for the next track.....Yolo is a hidden masterpiece....not popular possibly because of the title but it is a brilliant piece of work.....written I think by Kanami before BAND-MAID formed.
Thanks, added to the list!
I'll put my vote in for Yolo (the MV on their YT channel), which I also think is a masterpiece. Another song Kanami wrote as an instrumental, this time before the band's formation. Saiki liked it so much that they added words (they released an instrumental version of it also, as well as a Band-Maiko version of it). Really shows Kanami's early talent for songwriting.
I'll put a vote for YOLO too.
Tickets for the Day of MAID concert / livestream, May 10 @6pm ( JST ) are now on sale. It will be their first show in front of a live audience since Valentine's Day, 2020. Go to the official BAND-MAID site and support this impossibly hard rocking MAID band.
So good to see things start moving again after more than a year 🤘🏻
What??? Where will this be??What venue??
@@scottmcgregor562 They're playing the Toyosu PIT. It's a 3,000 seat venue in Tokyo. The gig is being live streamed.
@@harleyrichards140 I am expecting a phenomenal show. They have enough virtual gigs under their belt where they had to imagine a live audience for over a year. I love them for doing that. In this life nothing can be matched with Band Maid playing in front of a live audience.
@@harleyrichards140 I wonder if they will be allowing full capacity seating???
Love this song. Blooming and Puzzle favorite songs for me. Kanamis solo is beautiful, and her outro guitar work. But I love Kanamis guitar work, and songwriting. But yes, I love the way pedal work. Way pedal, and tapping have always been love for me. And it’s why I love Kanamis playing. She has said Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, EVH are influences. Kanami wrote a beautiful tribute tweet for EVH, praising his phrasing and tapping.
That's a technique that gained so much popularity in Japan. They seem to use it so much more than any other country
While you wait for the premiere, if you like Pink Floyd I just uploaded a cover of "Time" on the channel: let me know what you think ;)
Check out Giovanni if you haven't reacted to it yet. It has some prog vibe to it.
Will do, thanks!
And I have to agree with your observation of the way that they work and support each other as well as shinning at their own parts. It amazes me. I have never in all my years listening to rock that I haven't seen another band that does that as well as Band Maid.
One of the healthiest band dynamics I've seen in a long time
Such a lot of beautiful and incredible things happening in this song, and all that in less than 4 minutes. Somewhere I read that Kanami has a university degree in Economics - that may explain the efficiency.
I dropped out of economy college: maybe I should have stayed in? 😂
Happy Maid Monday! The tapping in the solo is really intresting. Also like how in the music videos during the solos there is a change of color to red like in "Manners"
#MaidMondayFever 😁🤘🏻
Thank you for your analysis of this song. I know very little about music so I enjoy you explanations about what is going on in the song. I really appreciate your explanation of MISA's base lines. I knew they were different than the base lines of other songs I have heard. Now I have a much better understanding.
My pleasure Tom, that's one of the main reasons why I do these videos. Glad I could help :)
What's as good as BAND-MAID when they're "Blooming"? BAND-MAID when they're in full bloom. The blue & red oni forces are strong :)
Not sure why, but reading this comment made me want to play and shout In Bloom by Nirvana 😂
@@akaalexanderking Haha. Didn't you know, kurt wrote that song about B-M before they'd even formed....possibly ;)
@@GaryHolloway-810 i believe Dave Grohl had a premonition that Akane might come along - although I'm still waiting for Saiki to do a swan dive into Akane's kit a la KC!!!
@@Kevin6059 Haha. Yep & i've not seen them destroy their entire kit yet either :)
Ahh yes the force is strong with this band.
I would suggest "Alone" for the next one.
Noted ;)
@@akaalexanderking Alone was the first song they wrote and arranged themselves. Worth a look.
True he hasn’t reacted to “Alone” that song is a band maid classic and few people react to it. That song has one of if not the best Kanami guitar solo
Now I'm even more curious
@@akaalexanderking They kept wanting to write their own music but management said no. They were finally allowed one song on the album they were recording at that time. That song (Alone) was so successful it earned them full creative liberties. It kind of sits between the sound of their earlier music and their current sound. You can see the shift in lyrics and a heavier tone.
The song “Choose me” has two Kanami solo. 👍
Next Monday Ok?
Noted ;)
Glad you liked it BLOOMING is my fav BM song for at least a year.
Great song, can see why!
Cool reaction.👌
Another Band-Maid masterpiece.😀
Thanks 😁 glad you enjoyed
One of the things I find unique about Band-Maid is their "circumstance". Bare with me here.... Because of Miku's late introduction to the guitar, she plays the basic song structure. As a consequence or "profit" from this, this allows/ or gives MISA more "room" to do what she does. It's almost like we have a bass player playing rhythm guitar and a guitarist playing bass. I've been thinking about who MISA reminds ME of as a bass player, and that would be Steve Harris of Iron Maiden... only because they like to play high on the neck whenever they can.
Again, Back to Miku's guitar parts. Because of "what" she plays, this allows Kanami to "doodle"/play leads in ALOT of their songs. Kanami is one of my favourite songwriters and in my group of favourite guitarists (I've been a big Band-Maid fan from 2015), but I think Kanami underplays her worth.... She is very humble.... which is why a lot of her solo's are short. It seems she projects her band mates at the expense of herself. I LOVE a long (normal length) guitar solo from Kanami. She is such a good/great guitar player, but the way she writes songs it seems that she puts the other girls before herself. Which is very noble... but I wanna hear more Kanami. I'm just a Kanami FanBoy.
Akane.... well her "cred" rose when Jimmy Page wanted to have a photo with her backstage at some Japanese Music award show. AND NO. HE DID NOT SAY THAT HE THOUGHT THAT SHE WAS THE INCARNATION OF JOHN BONHAM. Nobody knows what they talked about other than compliments and maybe some advice...... but, her playing reminds me of a "controlled" Keith Moon, and Chad Smith (Big sound, Small kit).
Couldn't agree more, that's such a weird circumstance that gave life to a wonderful thing. "Necessity is the mother of invention" :)
Different, Bubble, Choose Me (MV has bettee mix than live), Dice, Yolo, Dragon Cries. At some point I think it would be cool if you did a track by track review of their new album Unseen World. On their official channel..Cross live is a hidden gem with interesting key changes. Flying High (no MV though) is a very popular hidden gem among Band Maid afficiandos.
Great idea to do "Unseen World". BAND-MAID should've made the standard album release 1 song longer & added "Youth". It's too good a song to be a bonus track :)
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Yes! My favorite song!! It’s the BAND-MAIDest song ever BAND-MAID.
And Saiki is on DMX level with some great bars in the verses
Hope you'll enjoy the reaction my friend 😁
@@akaalexanderking I’m starting to know you by now so I’m sure I’m gonna have a good time 👌🏻
I always thought of Dice as the BAND-MAIDest song but can't argue with Blooming either.
2abug i'm beginning to think you really like BAND-MAID.😉
If you're like me, 2abug, the next BAND-MAID song you hear will also be your favorite BAND-MAID song.
BANDMAID🤘😎🤘👗🎸🇯🇵
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nice. My favourite !
Hope you'll enjoy Lewis 😁
@@akaalexanderking Whah Whah Whah !!! As someone who prefers the more metal tracks, as soon as I heard this followed by the insane tapping with bass lines to accompany it, it instantly became and still is my favourite BM song. Saiki's vocals are fantastic and you get to hear Miku's guitar in the mix. Some fantastic riffs especially the start of the second verse. Of course Akane's drums are of the charts on this. You need to listen to this 5 times in a row and choose a different member each time as there is so many good things to hear. I am pleased you enjoyed it.
So true, you can pick up something new on every listen 👍🏻
Jimi Hendrix influence in the wah use, EVH in the tapping, and a little Carlos Santana here and there. Kanami brings it all together very nice :-)
There's so much to like in this song, but switching the speed-up for that sick bass drop in the second verse always gets me
Alone would be a good one, they fought to get one of their own songs on an album and you can hear them proving themselves to the label! And the rest is history... so you get to put yourself in that mindset of "ok, show me what you got...... I see"
YOLO too - Alone has kind of a different sound to a lot of their songs, but YOLO is just kind of its own thing. The way it's put together is real interesting, and there's a lot of space in there despite all the stuff going on - let's just say you might be into it!
Noted, thanks for the suggestions 😁
I would suggest "Bubble" for the next one, not many people react to that one is a fantastic song. Nice video as always.
Thanks Rafael, noted ;)
Ah yes! This is one of those that will randomly give me goosebumps.
The majority of their fan base is in Europe and the US AND we miss them. Miku is the primary Lyricist with Saiki now contributing, this song is Miku. In Japan Miku is highly respected for her lyrics. Miku now has a signature guitar the Zemaitis A24MF-FP "Flappy Pigeon" limited edition. You can see it on Herman Li's podcast with Miku and Kanami.
There are 100's of all female bands in Japan, so you need to pick up the pace!!
Trying my best, will get there eventually ;)
Thanks GG! Gotta say that you're one of the few reactors I listen to all the way to the end! Couple of suggestions for next Monday: YOLO or Wonderland. They are both extremely well-written songs that would be great to hear you analyze.
Thanks, really appreciate it! Noted ;)
P.S. Your name on YT is one of my favorite italian authors 😁
Fantastic solo!!! This one, Alone and Daydreaming probably my favorites from Kanami!
Again impeccable drum work from Akane. Miku and Saiki harmonies are no surprise at this point, it is always such a bliss listening to them together.
And do we even need to talk about MISA, always so good, if she is supporting or if she is standing out!
You will probably get a lot of requests for the more mainstream songs so im going with the hidden gems, and there's a lot of them!
Shake That - I Can't live without you - Liberal - Order - One and only - Yuragu - FATE - Before Yesterday - Matchless Gum - Wonderland - FREEZER.
Some of these are early BM, not all are super complex but they are really good, there are many more! Even the ones not written by them, are so well performed and sounds so good!
Thanks GG.
Thanks Jorge, nice to have some hidden tracks as well 😁
Blooming BadAss! You too, GuitarGent. ;-)
Ahahahah thanks Tom 😁🤘🏻
For the next monday, my suggestion would be Alone. It's the first song written entirely by themselves, on the official recording at least. Would be very interesting to hear your take on it. And do not worry, Band-Maid was doing Band-Maid things since the beginning so it's a great song.
Thanks Sergey, very curious about that one 😁
If you want to listen to Kanami's long guitar solo, you should listen to the instrumental track.
BAND MAID usually doesn't do the flashy, long, unnecessary solos of the mundane metal/rock bands out there.
BAND-MAID Priority
1, for song 2, for band ..last, for ego
Agreed 🤘🏻
In my opinion, this song is one of the masterpieces.

My #1 favorite Band-Maid song! My #2 is... all their other songs. :)

Band-Maid doing Band-Maid Things :-)
And that's all we need :)
@@akaalexanderking Nothing more to say.
Along with "Play" and "Domination," this was one of the first three BAND-MAID songs I heard when I first discovered them. The vocal harmonies, the galloping drums, and MISA's distortion solidified me as a huge BAND-MAID fan. When I got home the next day, I listened to as much as I could find.
It's funny how Kirk has become associated with the wah pedal, but it's for sure with good reason! As primarily a bass guitarist, when I think of wah pedals, I think of Geezer Butler, Chris Squire, and Cliff Burton, three of my early heroes. I saw a pic of MISA's pedal board and thought she used one too, but it turned out to be a volume pedal.
Volume pedals can add SO MUCH to a performance, can't they? It's amazing how much they can influence the overall sound.
@@akaalexanderking, I've only used a volume pedal at guitar shops or at the house of the one person I know who has one. I'd probably invest in one if I was younger, more skilled, and had people around me who wanted to make a go of music. I can see the utility of them, though.
Nice!. I loved your explanation about chromatics. I didn´t know. Thank you. This song and Rinne belongs to their album Conqueror, maybe their most varied showcase. Of that album, in their official channel you still haven´t listen to Bubble, Glory, Dragon Cries, Endless Story and Wonderland. For a change of pace I vote for Wonderland. I´m veery curious to listen your analysis about the rythm section and the vocal layers in this one. I absolutely love your Maid Mondays!!
Thanks Juan, very glad to hear that. And thanks for the suggestions 😁

As I request (I can't remember if I've asked before of not) I think you should check out Hanabie. I watched some reaction videos for Band Maid from a vocal coach, and something she consistently said was that Saiki has "percussive voice". It's not a term I've heard before but I can see what she's talking about in regards to Saiki, and I think this song is a strong demonstration of that.
Pretty rare for Kanami to use the wah, but I dig it. The strongest early experience I have for it is Eric Clapton when he was playing with Cream. A girlfriend told me it sounded like someone was choking a duck, and honestly I can't disagree, but I like it anyway.
And I always have a moment of confusion when I hear someone mention a chromatic scale, because it reminds me of chromatic dragons from D&D. Bit of fun mental dissonance there.
A choking duck 😂😂 hard to get that image out of my head when I'll listen to Metallica now ahahah

Nobody does rock as well as Band-Maid.

Nice reaction , I see that your video is very thin and we can see everything behind it in the video , like your drums n cymbals and your right arm , is there a way to put something solid behind were you post the video on the screen so we dont see other objects , just asking .
Hey Dennis, thanks :) that's usually just a thing I do for copyright claims, but in fairness I've never had issues with Band-Maid. I'll try to remember for the next one 👍🏻
I’m not sure if you’re aware but more than just composing and arranging the instrumental section, Kanami also takes care of the vocals lines. Bluntly put, for 90% of BM’s catalogue, she basically writes up the entire project first, then the others do their own little edits before she rearranges everything into a complete project again.
Some fans don’t like it when this is brought up but I feel credit should given when due esp. when it’s someone like her who often overworks herself to poor health and has still refrained from taking credit, not even for a single track from the 100+ out now.
Also, Misa and Akane started contributing mostly around Conqueror as stated by Miku herself on a radio talk show around Conqueror’s release date.
Kanami places the song first and her insistence is also the main reason why the spotlight among the members is so well distributed. But due to the same reasons, she often gets overlooked by reactors/reviewers and new fans as her lowkey nature as the lead guitarist makes matters worse, considering Rock/Metal listeners are used to flamboyant lead guitarists.
What’s more unfortunate is that I’ve seen the same trend in many pro reviews in magazines as well.
But what annoys me personally is I can’t fault any of them either coz for whatever reason she isn’t listed in any of the song credits.
And from the little snooping around I’ve done, it’s most likely her own decision.
Probably a combination of wanting to stay lowkey and making everyone feel included and united.
That said, I did like your analysis and you atleast mentioned her guitar sections.
It’s just, she is among my fav songwriters and this whole issue occasionally riles me up so I end up venting it somewhere. Hope you don’t mind it too much 😅.
I don't mind at all, actually I enjoy the passion behind your comment 😁
@DLastOne2go Well said. I agree with everything you mentioned. Kanami is too modest - I think she should take a page out of Miku's playbook.
Thank you for pointing it out. Kanami's so selfless, and puts the band and their music over her non-existent ego. It's just the way Kanami is and each member respects and appreciates just the way they all are.
Whether she likes or not, she's gonna leave her name in the music history one day.
If you haven't heard Thrill... might be time to timewarp all the way back to the beginning. :)

This strikes me as odd.....most of the adulation for this band, these written comments, all read and sound very similar.
ALMOST as though they were written by the same person....and unusual grammatical errors by people with English-speaking-sounding names. Claims that can’t be taken seriously - LOTS OF THEM.
I looked up a name or two online, and can find no evidence that they actually exist. BeenVerified, Twitter, Facebook- that’s very strange.
Now who would do that ? The same puppet-masters pumping music into the speakers at live shows for these musicians to strum their guitars to ?
For money?
Gross. If true, GROSS.
The only thing they can’t manipulate? The music really isn’t very good.
You aren’t fooling anyone. Go make an honest living - you’ll feel better. I hope.
