    We are sorry about the poor sound quality on this video. It was a rather windy day when this filming took place.
    Part of the HGV driving tests requires you to demonstrate you can reverse an HGV both safely and competently.
    It involves reversing a truck into a simulated loading bay. This video will give you a heads up about what it is all about.
    Your instructor will show you how to do it will undergoing practical training.

    Absolutely fantastic. Here is the proof that you can only explain something in a simple and coerent way if you understand 100% of the subject. Thank you for your help.

    When doing the reversing exercise, are you allowed, at any point, to re-adjust your position, by driving forward slightly, then continuing to reverse. Or must you continue reversing all the way to the last set of cones, for better or worse?

      Nicholas Terry you can up to 2 shunts.......so make it worthwhile

  • @chcaul
    @chcaul Před 7 lety +1

    He mentioned seeing daylight between the two cones across the front of the vehicle at the beginning of the maneuver. That's not what my instructor told me this morning. He told me to put the nearside front wheel next to the cone. Can anyone clarify if this matters ?

    • @seanpargeter25
      @seanpargeter25 Před 7 lety +1

      You should keep the trucks within the confines of the "reversing are" marked out area. That includes the cones. The area is measured not taking into account what you have mentioned.

    • @chcaul
      @chcaul Před 7 lety

      Thanks very much Sean. I'll make sure I stay within the marked out area to be on the safe side.

    • @Sammyboy1991
      @Sammyboy1991 Před 5 lety +1

      The stopping in the box at the end is actually the easiest bit I think. You have a little marker on the back of your lorry which you can see in your mirror. As soon as that marker touches the yellow line that's when you stop. The hardest bit I think is the start bit.

      @@Sammyboy1991 Passed this and the C+E! Got an assessment for a job on Friday so here's hoping I can do it again :) My training trailers all had a mark but do all trailers have a mark for reversing or do I I need to set it up at the start without one?

    • @Sammyboy1991
      @Sammyboy1991 Před 5 lety

      @@horatioredgreenblue2130 I'm not entirely sure if they all have the reversing markers. Only the training vehicles, but I may be wrong. I don't actually drive for a profession yet, I had my cat C test on Friday, but I failed! I have a re-test though on Thursday coming up, so I am hoping I pass second time around.

    • @horatioredgreenblue2130
      @horatioredgreenblue2130 Před 5 lety

      @@Sammyboy1991 Good Luck! I needed a resit for both C & C+E. Found it much easier the second time around. The training takes a lot out of you and with the resit you just rock up having had some downtime. Guessing the trailers at work don't have the marks - Will just aim for about a foot from the side of the trailer in the mirror and hope!

      @@horatioredgreenblue2130 Yeah I'm pretty confident I'll pass this time. As they say, the best drivers pass 2nd time. Although I past my car driving test 1st time lol.

      And I have one more question, do I need to indicate when my left lane is changing to bus lane shortly so I need to change lane to right, on my last lesson my instructor said drive to the end (start of bus lane), don't indicate, and there was a busy traffic, so should I indicate because theoretically I am all the time on left lane?

      Lol! Thanks for your comments and sniping. You have us all wrong. I don't really care where you go for your training. We are a really small company in Surrey...yet CZcams covers the entire UK and beyond!!! Most of our viewers live too far away to train with us. It's all about helping you pass your test and getting your licence. Where exactly are the other training companies on CZcams doing the same???? Sometime I wonder why I bother. Yes try Coates and I help it all works out for you.

      If you have to use 1 hand you're going too fast. That's how they see it
