rebuilding a BLS at the moment piston 1 had a break on top compression ring. Worked on cars for a long time only thing im worried about is the sputter bearings as can't find any info on where they sit and what one goes to the top of conrod and what one goes toward bottom, one has a copper layer the other is normal looking im sure copper layer goes towards top of con?
Copper layer is from wear, you'll need to get new bearings! Replace them on all conrods with new bolts. BLS tend to wear these and spin them destroying crank and sometimes engine!
@@brolyfe8018 thanks for letting me know, I knew the stretch bolts had to go but no idea the copper stuff was actually worn as its worn perfectly even, on the ball

why do you drill out the pistons?
Drilling out the pistons is to reduce compression ratio and to stop them melting! Have melted a few standard pistons!
