I'm thinking about moving it to the Alamo and the Texian Revolution. Mainly as an excuse to get some of the sweet Boot Hill line of minis, but also because my buddy has the Sarissa Alamo set. Just a few years off and it should work perfectly!

A vivandiere was a woman officially attached to a French regiment to supply food, drink, etc often pictured with a brandy barrel on one hip. They went on campaign and there are incidents of them helping the wounded and also picking up a musket and fighting.
The 'necronomicon' inner binding is a common style in books at the time, though not always red.

I preordered this and the North Star French set. As I have plenty of suitable terrain and monsters available, and as I enjoy JMcCs games, the only question was about whether I wanted to go near Napoleonics. I was pleased when the figs turned out to be less about soldiers, and more about Napoleonic BPRD.
"La Revolution" on Netflix is a good inspiration for this. I'll be rewatching "The Duellists" in prep too I think.

As much as I love Sharpe, the setting of the book holds little interest for me.. but the mechanical changes sound great. I think I'm going to have to pick up a copy to see what I can integrate into Rangers and Frostgrave. The swingy combat has consistently been the main complaint from people I have introduced to those games. I was also surprised when Stargrave didn't have a return fire rule given the prevalence of ranged combat, so perhaps I will pilfer that rule from Silver Bayonet as well!

Earlier in the wars Britain and Spain were enemies. A lot of the time Europe's response to Napoleon created allies of convenience rather than friendship. Personally I see the game as black ops with missions to recover artefacts in order to increase a nation's power and standing within Europe. Lots of plausible deniability.
