    I was front row right of center at the show in Orlando Florida. November 29th. Steve was 10 feet in front of me most of the time. Amazing show !! I was so glad to see this tour because since it's release Passion & Warfare has been my favorite instrumental album ever. To see it front to back including a handful of my favorites off some of his other albums was great. I also saw him last April on his Generation Axe tour & back in February 1987 on the DLR Eat em and Smile tour with Billy Sheehan. Missed some in between then and last year but i'll never miss him again when he comes through Florida.

    Why do I like Steve Vai? Hmm... Amazing musician, yes. But also a very cool down to earth kinda guy that is approachable. I think he is a mastermind when it comes to marketing. I would love to meet this guy and have him sign my hand made guitar amp signed by many other top selected musicians. I am making history ;-) Vai is one of my favs... Thanks for the post!

      Who has signed your hand made amp so far Ron ?

    • @RonTimmonsM1
      @RonTimmonsM1 Před 7 lety

      Scotty D James Taylor, Steve Lukather, Joe Bonnamossa band, Brad Gillis, Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Kerri Kelly, few others.I thought for sure Billy Gibbons would sign it but he wasn't into it... I was somewhat let down on that one... my ultimate goal is Steve Vai, Eric Clapton, Paul Gilbert, Eddie Van Halen...(the whole reason I ever started playing guitar) Eric Johnson would be cool and of course Joe Satriani... oh yah and where is Andy Timmons these days... I always joke around and say we are related because we are from same place and have same last name so it would be cool to meet that guy but in all reality Steve would be over the top ;-) I have pics of the amp maybe I should do a video... I have quite a few followers it's amazing solid quilt top maple, based off a fender 5E3 hot rodded with new old stock tubes from the 50s made in the good ole town where I live... which happens to be where the greatest music store on the planet resides Sweetwater. I love this town for music .. musicians are more approachable, it's more laid back easy going and less worries. Of course I'll go anywhere for a good show;-) do you have any autographs?

    • @scottyd2262
      @scottyd2262 Před 7 lety

      Out of everyone that signed it. Id have to say that Joe Walsh is my favorite. Man that is sooo cool. Surprised that Billy Gibbons wouldn't sign it.... What's up with that ? Ive got a Stone Temple Pilots signed guitar.. A Kerry King signed BC Rich and a Washburn signed by Paul Stanley. Don't get me started on Ace Frehley......
      I spent $430 on a VIP meet & greet and he wouldn't even sign any musical instruments. I took my pick guard off my Les Paul Traditional to the meet & greet (if you could call it that) he wouldn't sign it
      Talked via his bodyguards and was rude as to people. Waited over 3 decades to meet him. Now i wish that i never did..... I was paying off a Ace Frehley reliced Budokan at the time. After meeting him i got another 100watt head instead & he lost a longtime fan. He was the reason that i started playing..
      Ah well..... I really like my new head !

      Ironically, the 1 Whitesnake tour he did was the only tour where he played primarily 7 string guitars. Ever since then (early 90s) when he started touring as a solo artist, he rarely ever even brings any on tour. When he does, its played for like 1 song. Considering his vast musical catalog, there are very few songs where he even used the 7 string in the studio.

    Steve Vai, besides being one of the greatest guitarists of all time, is truly one of the most nicest, and humble people i have ever met. Met him years ago and he was very kind, then recently he found out through a friend of a friend that i have been sick (kidney issues), he took the time out during his most recent busy tour just to Email me personally to tell me to keep fighting he commended some books for me to read and was just soo supportive. Pure CLass. Can never say enough NICE things about this man! BTW I am getting better, so much better that my band has started recording our second album. David Tomkins lol he's not playing tricks. He uses the 1's and 3's in studio all the time. Mostly the 1's live

      Dave usually plays the 7 string rhythm parts live. On the last tour (Story of Light) I only remember Steve playing a 7 on Weeping China Doll.

      But i mean the full name of the guutar because i was thinking about buy one like that :3

    • @tweevers2
      @tweevers2 Před 7 lety

      That name is 'Girly' used for gravity storm...there are only two 'Girly's in existence...this one in the video is 'Girly I' and there is a 'Girly II" both are hand painted by Steve..."Girly I" has a rosewood fretboard (scalloped), 3pc neck, fernandes sustainer, single coil and stacked humbucker at the bridge. Tremolo is Lo-Pro Edge, chrome.
      "Girly II" has a maple fretboard (scalloped), 3pc neck, noiseless single for the neck, middle and bridge position. Other hardware is the same as on Girly I. But this guitar has some active circuitry, I guess. There are two red lights where the sustainer witches regularly are and there is a compartment for the electronics on the back.Steve said that the pickups on both are custom voiced DiMarzio single coils.

    I love steve and dont mean to slam him but i have always felt his talent and knowledge is greater than his actual guitar tone. I just feel he needs more of a signature sound like say Ty tabor or Brian may.

      what are you talking about?

    • @michealravilob5607
      @michealravilob5607 Před 7 lety +1

      I have been watching his video's and I see mild elder abuse at times. He put together a series of videos documenting one of his not too distant tours. Think of the xmas special the Grinch who stole Xmas.. the scene where the dog is pulling the grinches enormous sleigh. There is a clip to Thomas pushing Steve's gear thru the airport after a 18 hour flight. The poor old guy was struggling and Steve and his son gallop through the airport telling each other they love each other . He makes snarky comments to Thomas here and there about a multitude of things. I understand the guitar tech need to do these types of things its his job. These vidoes area also very strange...his son is on tour. They kiss and tell each other they love each other 20 to 30 times a tour. I guess Steve's father relationship was rough.. probably why he spent so much time trying to be as good as he is. The son needs to step up and help out Thomas... it's and old guy and a young guy.

      Micheal Ravilob however you think you saw it, it still is Thomas's job, and he gets paid extremely well.
      Calling it elderly abuse is disrespectful to Thomas: He's doing his job well, and you're saying he shouldn't be doing it anymore on his own, like he has been for 40 years.
