Goodreview, I have thek1 max, it is an amazing printer. The creality print slicer needs more work! I hope they continue to improve it. I've tried the Orca slicer Italians comes up with longer print time than the creality says so I haven't printed from it YET. It would be great if creality would come upwitha cannedroutine to fully open up clipper instead of us risking brick ingredient themachine. Thanks for sharing us!

I just bought a K1 for $349 from Micro Center. It’s my first printer and it’s working great! I do laser engraving so I’m familiar with certain things. It’s been a good experience so far with Hyper PLA and Inland PLA Pro. I’ve only used creality print, but I’m trying to learn how to make things using Onshape.

Great video. Now that rooting / full Klipper access is available, I noticed some people diving in and fixing the limitation that Creality puts on input shaping. i.e; only measuring on _one_ axis and using that value for *both* X&Y. It would be interesting to know if having accurate input shaper values for X & Y has an effect on the VFA artefacts that you mentioned.

    • @NoizieWorks
      @NoizieWorks  Před 6 měsíci +3

Hi Steve 😉, i've had some good talks with users and the consensus seems to be that it helps but the vfa is still problematic. I have 1 viewer replacing idlers, bearing on all rotating/sliding parts and the only thing he hasn't done is replace motors and use smaller pulleys. If you look at their new K1C they put smaller pulleys on the motors. Some say the combination of the motors and the bigger pulleys are the source of the vfa problems. Safe to say it's a hardware problem at this point.

Regarding VFA, the community folks working on the Klipper Rooting have discovered that Creality only calculates the ringing frequency on Y and simply applies the same value to X, which would account for the results you mention. Using a full-fledged Klipper configuration would allow you to fix that. Just thought I would share! Thanks for the video!

Both are now rooted and ready to rock with Fluidd. Here's hoping I'll have some time this weekend to test them out because I need to sell off a couple of my older printers to justify these. Do I need both? Probably not, but Amazon provides me 2 full months of use before I decide.

Couple of questions Noizie, I recently got a k1, it came with the new parts, getting it locked in, have you tried Orca slicer? Would you be willing to export some of your Presets for PLA/ABS/PETG just to compare speeds, acceleration, etc. etc. for my own curiosity. 2nd, what flow test are you using to get your Volumetric flow measurements if you don't mind? I am more of a resin guy, I have a custom neptune 2 with klipper, really trying to lock in temps and speed with this XY machine. Really feels like I have to pump the heat up a lot more than usual! Yeah for testing it in it's standard config. Honestly i don't feel the need for the moment except if you realy want to use another slicer with wifi integration and all that. People also use it for better bed mesh but i found it to not be a problem anymore. Maybe inputshaper calibration would benefit from it as it still seems that they have no clue how to properly combine x and y compensation.
There is also a lot you can screw up in klipper so it's going to be for the few %.

[* Z: "Zed" from the Greek letter Zet'a (unless you were raised watching Sesame Street, like most Americans! 😉).]
Great review; I've been looking for reviews where the reviewer was willing to be critical and yours is one of the best. I have been tempted by the Bambu offering and might have been willing to swallow the price but the closed software ecosystem and the fact that a significant part of the value comes from the cloud & phone app has put me off.
If down the line Bambu decide to copy DJI then there might be no further updates or support for their old models and if they decide to start charging for their cloud services then you're going to either pay or be Sorry, Out of Luck. Not good.

Got sick of the "not sponsord" reviews that get flooded in the first weeks, it's that or they lost touch with the consumer.
About Bambu, i'm afraid that when the market get's flooded with dirt cheap alternatives the sales are going to drop so much that they will have to look for other money like the "cloud".
Starting small by hiding new features behind a paywall and then a 2.99 or so subscription for cloud service and so on.

Nice friend you have lol! First of all check the psu if it's set to the correct voltage setting, it wouldn't be the first printer set at 220 if you have 110.
You can find the new extruder for cheap on ali 😉

@@NoizieWorks Thanks for the tips! He's used it so I think AC voltage should be correct. I need to fully disassemble it anyways. Did I mention the bed is within 3.5mm level? And I still find pieces of shattered glass in the frame, since the original glass door broke on him during shipping and he had to pay for shipping for a replacement. I feel he's got all the early adopter kinks and to quote him "it's yours, I don't want to deal with it anymore"😂
He's now running exclusively P1Ps so I can relate how he feels.
Hopefully I can get the Linux crashing thing solved soon or I might even need a new MB.

@@NoizieWorks OMG it was on 230! No wonder the LED strip flickers like crazy when hotend wants power🤣
Thank you so much, I wouldn't have thought! I firstly checked 24VDC rail and it was 24, then I turned the hotend on it drooped to 19.3 ~ish, that's when I realized the AD\DC unit is doing something.

I think the K1 is different. After they got initial issues sorted out, it seems to be one of the best out there… I understand your sentiment though, my Ender 3 V3 SE has been annoying the living poopoo out of me.

I bought the K1 Max to test ... absolute GARBAGE!!!!!! I have 9 other printers I have recently added to my fleet and they smash the Creality K1 MAX out of the park for print quality, some are less in price, some are custom, some are bed slingers even .... Honestly for me this is a nice looking printer, very pretty, in fact one of the best looking designs I've seen yet but its all show an definitely NO GO! mine is going back, the VFA's are OUT OF THIS WORLD, to the point of every print goes in the bin! .... sorry but I've been in the 3D printing world since 2014 with a plethora of experience so I can honestly say be careful if you buy one of these.....its a gamble ... some seem ok and maybe passable ... the rest are just SH*T

one thing that was giving me really bad VFA was choosing the standard pla in creality print. The second i chose the hyper one even though its not hyper filament all the artifacts pretty much disappeared, though i was comparing it to the sample prints they provide on the usb, which were coming out good but everything i sliced looked like ass.
So if the test prints aren't up to your standards then i"m not sure what can be done. I just saw that the test prints were coming out good and so i read through the gcode and copied the settings and rooted to solve the dumb input shaping issue

That is how creality works.. put out unfinished printers, wait for community to fix it, send out the stolen IP on new versions.. nothing for the early adopters. Why I will never buy from again.

lol, as opposed to Bambu Labs who only lets you print via their cloud so that they can steal your IP that way 😂 They are Chinese companies. China doesn’t have IP theft laws. As far as they are concerned, once something is in the public domain, it’s fair game! If you are going to buy products from Chinese companies, you are going to have to live with it.
